  • Welcome to Classics Are Better, where we work on, appreciate, and check out CARS and TRUCKS from the 1950s to the early 2000s.
Today we are checking out my newest addition, a 1968 Chevrolet Impala! My Grandparents unfortunately both passed last year and left this to my Dad who decided to pass it to me. My Great Grandmother actually chose all the options and ordered this car new from the factory back in '68! It's been in my family and only in TX its whole life. My Grandpa had added some gauges, a tach, & distributor at some point back in the day, but other than that its all original with 62,414 miles!!
Goal today is to rescue it from rotting away in its resting place & see what we have to work with. Going forward I will document getting this big beast back on the road. Last time I drove it was just around his neighborhood like 15+ years ago in high school, my Gpa would start it up every month or so in the late 00s, but I think it has been sitting under that car port and treated as a storage shelf since probably around 2014/2015 or so.
Thank you for watching, please like and subscribe, and keep on wrenching! Hope to have more videos and content soon! www.ClassicsAreBetter.com

@@CLASSICSAREBETTER one job at a time is right. In 19, I started planning for the Resurrection, then got retired at new years.
Late 19, made arrangements to get some of the body worked roughed out for starters, then 2020 blew up. Then I see your vid, and I went out to where it's stored, along with my 78 Malibu, 75 Monza 2+2, 79 Monza Spider coupe, and I started to update notes on step by step plan. I'll get there if I plan it step by step, It's a one family car and I got to get her back on the road. Lots of memories in that car. I'll be checking your progress. @@CLASSICSAREBETTER Red with black interior. Bucket seats. Console powerglide TH400 transmission.
the latest dilemma is the previous owner got this beastly engine and bolted on "what fit". Short water pump. AC on passenger side. odd Alternator bracket and "made to fit" power steering pump bracket. I re-cored the radiator and reinstalled to discover all of that. Getting her back together as is to get things running well. Will order and replace the water pump, pulleys, belts and accessory brackets in the coming month. Have pretty much decided to leave the AC on passenger side (not knowing if it works yet) as is a lot of work to move and I am not fond of having the hoses all across the engine.
