    Matt,
    Thank you for your very knowledgeable and clear videos on sharpening. Can you do a video on parabolic blade sharpening and share any wisdom you have on them?
    Thank you!

    Hi! Are you still doing instruction videos on sharpening like these? If you are then i'm really curious if you could make one about sharpening parabolic blades compared to regular blades

    Sorry to resurrect this video from the abyss but I’m looking at setting up a tech bench and sharpener for at home. Atlanta skating scene is truly not great, far away pro shops with wonky hours is really a headache trying to keep my daughter ready to go. I was so spoiled at her age living in the Midwest. What sharpener would you recommend under $2k?

    Hi Matt! Couple of quick questions. Did u consider getting the Blackstone figure skate holder? I have that one. It seems somewhat similar to your Wissota. Also, what edge checker do you recommend? I know you don't use one but I my eyesight isn't as keen as it used to be. I have the Blackstone version but there are a bunch out there, as you know. I'm considering the Blademaster edge checker that can be used with skate still in holder. Thanks for any info! Sidenote: congrats on your move! Big change! Also, enjoyed watching your dad when he played for Chicago, really good player. Thanks!

    Hey Matt, just discovered your channel. Great stuff. Getting back into skating after 45 years off. QUESTION: Can you recommend a great Skate Tech in Southern California? Thanks!

    How did the manufacturer of the blade expect anybody to sharpen them?

    Hi there, question for Matt, how close do you get to the drag pick when sharpening? I've seen mine about 1/4" and recently a pair of new JW CA done almost 1" away from the drag pick. Is that right?

    • @RedmondsCorner
      @RedmondsCorner  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi AJ. When getting your skates sharpened make sure the tech gets as close to the pick as he/she can. The issue is with an inexperienced tech they might leave a “dent” next to the pick because that is the initial contact point. Don’t worry if the tech lightly touches the pick. Collateral damage trying to get close!
      Thanks for the question!

    Hey Matt. What do you think about home sharpening machine like the prosharp home or sparx for pro figuireskaters?

    • @anthonyfussell
      @anthonyfussell Před rokem

      My experience is, it does a great job if you know how to set it up. After awhile you start getting a “dent” near the toe pick from the wheel contact point. Contacted Sparx, their only solution is to flip the skate the other way. 🙄

      @@anthonyfussell thanks for the reply. My other problem is that Prosharp home rounds the heel...
