You are amazing, this was so very helpful. I was given spironolactone viartris 25mg for my androgenetic alopecia, and I was wondering if my hair will grow back with this or does it help stop hair loss only?

Is there any contraindications of spironolactone in case of sinus tachycardia?
Hello Alaa, you need to let your doctor know before starting spironolactone if you have any heart condition. Your doctor will determine if it is suitable to be used in your case.
Will it cause period issues, low sex drive, or thinning hair?

Iâve come off of spironolatcone in December and my weight has ballooned in 3 months I have gained a huge amount of weight and fluid retention đ Iâm in the fitness industry so I eat well and exercise well so and my diet hasnât changed

Hi Star butterfly, I canât seem to find a lot of data in regards of this. The way to find out is to to talk to your doctor for another prescription and try it out. Hope that helps

Hi Kahdidja, you need to consult your doctor in regards to this. Dependent on your treatment and how you react to spironolactone.
I took spironolactobne about a year ago, and havent i inform my Endo that i stopped taking it, can i return in using it now again? we still havent meet up to now. Thanks

Hi Ivana, do you mean for stopping male characteristics? This is a very specialized field which I am not familiar with. You need to consult specialized doctors in this. The side effects of this medication is Gynecomastia, so I would imagine, it may be used. and again, not giving you any advice here. You need to speak to a doctor who has experience in this field in regard to this.
What kind of milk to use cereal while on this spironolactone
Hi Tina, potassium is the thing you watch out for, if the potassium is high in the milk, then avoid it. You can read it on the milk label.
Does the acne come back after stop taking spironolacton?
Hello, potentially, however, you might have passed the phase of having acne, so it might not come back anymore. Talk to your dermatologist more on this.
If I quit using it for years, is it still dangerous if I am willing to get pregnant or for the baby?
Hi, you have been off it for years. It would be all out of your system by now. I suggest you Speak to your doctor to preplan your pregnancy which is always a good idea.
hi soonky!my father_in_law taken spironolactone 2xaday his bp is to much lower of 80 over40 his age is 86 according to his doctor he has plenty of water in his lungs.what i did was i lower his taking of this med.because of his lower bp.we don't have contact with his doctor because of corona virus lockdown.what should i do pls help me.i'm from cabadbaran agusan del norte.thanks for your time!

I only take half of 25mg a day for hp. I donât have edea i donât swell my hp meds. Amlodipine.5 mg. Side affects is swelling of hand and feet. But i never did swell at all from it. So i donât think i need spironolactone at all. O will be talking to her about coming off it. It breaks my face pretty bad around my jaw area. I hate it.

Hi Yanni, you will run the risk of lowering your testosterone which will cause all sorts of other problems and even have enlarge breast, unless that is what you are aiming for. Speak to your doctor about this. Your doctor will need to prescribe this for you.
Hi i take this med four liver as I have liver deasise and waiting a transplant I been taking this med four 18mths and I'm loosing alot of my hair can you help please
Hi Nicole, hope you will get the transplant soon and all goes well. Your hair loss my be caused by the liver disease not spironolactone, as spironolactone usually helps prevent and slow down hair loss. Consider using wigs. You can get cheap wigs on Ali express. :)

Hi, I noticed the diet restriction on meat. I love meat and going on this medicine for hormonal acne. Help!
Hello Peau, hm.. I havenât heard of you need to go on meat restriction..did your doctor say to do so? is it potassium/ salts substitute that you are talking about ?
@@soonkiethepharmacist my doctor didn't say anything on diet restriction, but curious I Google the food restriction because what happened to my father in law, he die from Warfarin because no one educated him on the diet restriction while on that medicine. I think I will ok because is not a high dose. So far, my blood work is ok and my app. is in 3 months. Thanks for the respond.
Oh no! Thatâs so sad... I am so sorry to hear that. I am surprise that no one educate him about warfarin. Here we go through vigorous counselling about food intake when people start on warfarin, and need patients to follow very strict blood test monitoring and food restrictions to make sure they are safe. Thatâs a shame to that the medical team there did not do that for your father in law. I am sooo sorry for your loss. warfarin is very different to spironolactone. Watch your potassium intake for spironolactone. Donât take any potassium supplement. Avoid too much bananas and donât use any salt substitute. If you have irregular heart beat, feel tightness in your chest, breathing difficulty, or feel unwell in anyway, see your doctor immediately.

Can you stop this medication suddenly?
Hi Jrod, if you are already used to taking the medication consistently for a while, you need to speak to your doctor for a plan to slowly wean it off. Donât stop abruptly. Fluid retention can happen, blood pressure can rise.
Can you drink alcohol whilst taking it :)

This medicine is also known to feminize male fetuses thus leading to feminine men or gay men. There are other meds that do this to male fetuses. And likewise to female fetuses.
