      The anemometer was critical. Often these reviews are subjective and to have a 'measurement' is very enlightening

    • @benoitverret6722
      @benoitverret6722 Před 3 lety +1

      Je serais intéressé à connaître l'airflow dans une situation ou l'entièreté du vent est dirigé vers l'anemometre.
      Mon point est que le Dyson pourrait (ou non) pousser sont air plus sur les côté et donc moins capté par l'anemometre.
      Par exemple, si tu es collé derrière une van à 100 km/h et que tu prend une mesure, il n'y aura presque pas de vent, mais si tu es sur le bumper avant de la van tu auras un vent de 100 km/h même si dans les 2 cas tu sais que tu es en mouvement.
      Le setup serait probablement de créer un cone avec une toile de plastique qui serait collé sur le tout du fan et sur un bout d'ABS de grosseur similaire au fan de n'anemometre pour vraiment acheminer l'entièreté du flow (appelons ça Sealed Air Flow).

      @@benoitverret6722 Désolé du délai de réponse. Je n'ai pas eu d'avertissements de youtube. Je me suis posé le même genre de question mais je me suis dit que la personne assis sur son divan est plus intéressée au airflow effectif l'atteignant. Nonobstant cette hypothèse, le Dyson a en fait une projection plus directionelle en raison de sa conception.

    Your review actually helped us to decide to buy both of the fans. We live in a high-rise in Chicago where the heating system does not get turned off until nearly June, and our air conditioners cannot cope with our cooling needs during spring time because of it. Based on your recommendation, first we got the Honeywell fan, and we love how quiet it is but it doesn’t have enough airflow for our needs. So later the same day, now we’re getting the Dyson fan (at a good discount and with a trade-in at Best Buy) to have higher airflow. We will put the Dyson in a room with a strong air conditioner and face it towards our apartment’s main hallway, in a location where it can be as loud as it needs to be. And we will put the Honeywell at the end of the hallway facing into our living room, where its quieter operation and lesser airflow will work just fine paired with the Dyson. So not exactly the point of the review, but thank you for helping us graduate from two old Vornado floor fans.

    Dyson is the Bose speaker of small, household appliances. Lots of overblown patents, snazzy designs, and slick marketing, but charging premium prices for cheap components and the performance is lacking when compared to far cheaper alternatives. Same goes for Simple Human and their $200+ garbage cans.

    I don't know how Dyson patented the Venturi but the Weed Eater Gator Vac uses this technology and has a decade or two before Dyson ever made the fans. Granted, it was used in a lawn vacuum but still... It's not the first time Dyson claims this as it claimed it was the first bagless cleaning system with no loss of performance even though both Rexair with the Rainbow and Filter Queen implemented the technology a good 50-60 years prior to Dyson machines.

    I guess my question is how good is the Dyson fan with dust? I know that you wiped the outside down but that doesn’t show how clean the inside stays and if the blade inside gets dusty, it’ll blow less and less. I love tower fans but they have to be cleaned a lot, and the tower blade is kind of big and tedious to clean. Also after about two or so years the tower fans always start making gurgling noises. So I wonder how the Dyson holds up over very long periods (I run the fan 24/7 365 basically. Love me some e white noise)

    I find that the Honeywell makes some very obnoxious whistling noise and very deep base thumping, somehow (I literally thought it was a concert playing somewhere in the distance, until I realized it came from the fan). So even though it's not necessarily super loud, it's some very unpleasant noises. Maybe something is wrong with mine, I don't know, but I'll probably return it, as it's driving me nuts 🙉🙈

    Airflow (meaning volumetric flow rate) is not the same thing as air speed. To make this truly apples to apples, you should list the CFM rating of the fans and they should be equal

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  Před rokem +3

      You are technically right. Might have lost this one in translation. However, here, CFM has no value has it’s not exchanging air (for example) or cooling air. The only effect of a cooling fan is the effect of air speed on the skin (convection). This is what the human body feels. It’s is to be noted here that all fans here are almost the same size and should have similar CFM but it’s the airspeed here that clearly counts. But thanks, I’ll make sure to use the appropriate term next time.

  • @lawrencegenereux8567

    I agree that the Dyson fan is a triumph of marketing over value, but there is one additional thing to consider. Air speed versus air volume. They are not the same. In an earlier life, I sold and distributed fans for a wholesaler. I learned that air volume is the critical concern for moving a lot of air from one location to another, I.e. distributing cool air around a room. Air speed, however, is the critical concern if you are using the fan for close personal use to cool yourself by perspiration evaporative cooling.
    In any event, I believe the Dyson fan is way overpriced, and appeals primarily to those consumers that want the unique rather than the most effective. Of course, your mileage may vary, and how you spend your money is entirely your business. Just consider your application, spend your money, and enjoy.

    • @TEKDAD
      @TEKDAD  Před rokem

      Totally agree but here (according also to your explanation) air speed (velocity applies). I would have talked about CFM (volume) for an ac unit or air exchanger.

    We got this for the toddler room czcams.com/users/postUgkxdzUap46p9ViXhKZf5mK_bXOb89EHxTqq because of the bladeless feature. Actually has a lot more power than I thought it would. Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. Overall, happy with the purchase, especially for the price

    I am returning my dyson fan tomorrow for the honeywell.
    The dyson's noise is louder, yes, but its also an unpleasent sound. It's a whistling type of sound. The way the air is generated at the bottom of the fan, and it is "whistled" up throughout the channels and out.
    That sound is higher in volume, but also in pitch. Its a high pitched whistling noise, and unbearable at speed 2! Speed 1 is the only useable setting on the dyson.
    I have a small tabletop version of the honeywell, and that is the traditional fan turbine noise you're use to hearing.
    Dyson has failed hard.

      We have 3 of these. One we bought because we were desperate during a period of intense haze from Indonesia and there was a shortage of air filters; 2 given by a friend's mom who just gave up on them. Apples to oranges argument is idiotic. Bottom line, you want a fan with strong airflow when you need it delivered QUIETLY. Dyson fails in both. Speed setting lower than 7 is a joke. You have to make an act of faith to actually believe there is airflow at speed setting 3 or below. All three are now in tiny rooms in my house because those all these fans are capable of making any difference .
