Abraham Lincoln once asked General (Winfield) Scott this question: "Why is it that you were once able to take Mexico City in three months with five thousand men, and we have been unable to take Richmond with one hundred thousand men?" "I will tell you," said General Scott. "The men who took us into Mexico City are the same men who are keeping us out of Richmond."

I'm having vague memories of having seen this as an 11 year old back in '72. Really well done for it's time.

I know that in the 70s we used to watch films such as this on different subjects.

Its so sad that the peace was distorted in the South after Lincolns death and another century of Jim Crow in the US 😢

I remember this being tinted yellow to give it effect as if it were filmed during the Civil war.

The documentary film Culledon is well worth watching. All in black and white film 1964.
    A sort of documentary
Awesome and slightly terrifying as a kid - I was 6 at the time
Watched it a couple of times - lots of Americans etc were quite shocked by the film.
