- Biography by Ron Wynn: Violinist Noel Pointer studied classical violin before he signed with Blue Note as a jazz musician in the early '70s. His releases of light instrumental pop and fusion also included guest stints by vocalists. Pointer moved to United Artists in 1978, and his Hold On LP had Patti Austin as the featured singer. He later included contributions from the Jones Girls and Patrice Rushen on future releases for UA, and then moved to Liberty in 1981. Pointer recorded with Norman Connors and did sessions for several other artists. He resurfaced in 1993 on a Shanachie date, Never Lose Your Heart, which would prove to be his final album -- Noel Pointer died from a stroke on December 19, 1994 at the age of 39.
Noel Pointer mother Mrs. Louvinia Pointer was my music teacher in P.S. 21. I remember Noel joining us at our yearly concert. What a joy!

Is that Ultra Center with Japanese jazz artist John Luzaika? Around 1987? I was there too. I remember the guest artist Tiwi Reyes one the female original of New Minstrel.

There was a lady at Technics Organ store in Alimall Cubao that played this music complete and right on each note. That's why I knew and fell in love to this music. She is awesome, I was just a kid then. Maybe you have heard her play too.

OMG, East St. Louis is my hometown as well! This is so random...but I love it! I grew up on 12th & Bond...the projects. At 12 or 13 y/o my dad moved us to Springfield Illinois. But I still call E.St.L home...always will. Great to meet hometown family. Stay safe-Stay healthy. Peace friends.🌷
@Patricia Washington BTW, I soooo remember St. Teresa's Academy...B/c across the street was "Pirtle's Confectionery Store" Pirtle's had the best ice cream on the planet! Mr. Pirtle would dip & put a "half pint" of ice cream on a sm/med cone...And dang-near a "pint" of ice cream on a large cone.🤣
My favorite flavors were: a scoop of chocolate on the bottom & a scoop of butter pecan on top...OMG, I can still taste it to this day!🤣

Did anyone from East St. Louis attend the "1st (Annual) Family Fun Festival" at Jones park this weekend? Was unable to attend, but my relatives (who did) attend, say it was a beautiful event. Hosted by Jerome King & family from the southend.

Noel Pointer!!! This is my dude from back in the day. Saw him quite a few times LIVE!!! My claim to fame is while in concert at Blues Alley in DC. He stepped on my foot while coming off stage to play in the audience. He told everyone I had big feet...LOL He's also related to Milira. Another great artist from back in the day. Check her!

Technics Organ, store in Alimall Cubao. A lady musician played this beautiful piece, complete down to each note. She was awesome and pretty too. I was just a kid then, grade 5. Fell in love to this music and learned to appreciate a beautiful woman at the same time. 🔥 💖
