Don't feel bad man, every fast mover pilot secretly wants to grow up to be a real(helicopter) pilot one day. ;)
🤣🤣🤣
Used to know a test pilot, who flew both rotary and fixed wing. Rotary requires a lot more skill.
@@deang5622 weeeell, don’t know about ‘more’ skill, definitely a different skill set! 😅
Hands down favourite helicopter of all time! I have to say Miltech has managed to wow me on this one. I am glad you are enjoying it too!
Yeah, it’s excellent! Two brilliant utility craft from Miltech. Osprey also very good 👍🏻
As much as I am looking forward to the DCS version, Miltech will definitely scratch the itch for now!
Love it, another great video, cheers Chris !! I worked with 7 Squadron during my RAF service as a comms operator with TCW out of Brize Norton. Flying around Catterick in the left seat doing the comms for the pilot was amazing !! Happy times. Cheers, Daz, Leicester.
That sounds like plenty of fun! Never had any front seat time though I’m more and more tempted to train up. Even if just privately!
Loved this video & love this channel; keep up the great work! My father flew Chinooks at Odiham (with 18 then 7 Sqn) through the 80’s, including the Falklands war; before that he flew Sea King, Wessex, Whirlwind, Hawks, Meteors, & Vulcans… He enjoyed rotary most. Once he landed a chinook near my grandmother’s house in the Lake District & they popped in for tea before heading home!
Amazing, those were the days where crews could do training and pop in to see their parents along the way! 😁
Very well done Chris 👏🏻
(For a jet jockey 😂)
😂 I’ll take that!
Excellent Chris. One of my favourite choppers. Keep it up ! Stunning video.
Appreciate it, thanks 👍🏻
Brilliant fun video as ever. Please remember to land before stopping when you get back in the fast jets... :)
Along with my son, we've been having loads of fun flying 2 of these around. The built-in missions are fun too. Having watched the real Chinook pilots practice hooking the underslung loads many times this it's a decent approximation of the difficulty. Roll on MSFS24 when all this works a little more seamlessly.
Valid point! And thanks 👍🏻
you have made me want to buy it and I would have never considered it. Cheers mate! :)
My deepest apologies! 😅👍🏻
One of my all time favourite aircraft. Fun video! Now though I'm craving a video where you try and do one of the included missions.
Haven’t checked those yet! Thanks for the nudge. I’d better do some more fast jet though…
@@cgaviator Can't go wrong with more fast jet content, that's for sure.
Great video as always, thanks Chris. Like fast jets, I have never been into Rotary, although my instructor is and loves them .
Anything that needs me to coordinate my hands and feet I find really fun!
You made that look easy! I remember seeing them do aerobatics and they seem to hang an twizzle around in the sky! Not bad for a flying bus.
Yeah, great to see it move!
This video made me almost like the big wokka-wokka! Almost. Although my antipathy towards the big bus dates back to my time in the air cadets where to keep up occupied one afternoon, at an RAF camp, we were made to refuel one of these using a hand pump and 55gal drums of fuel. That took for flipping ages. Haven't really taken to them since.
🤣 That’s hilarious! And cruel!
Bit like your introduction to RAF Brize Norton when you get posted there. You have to report to the Station Warrant Officer on your first day. 1986 was the year, fresh out of RAF Cosford trade training and my first day at Brize, got taken down to the mahoosive Base Hangar where the VC-10's and Tri-Stars went in for maintenance, we were told to "polish" the fuselage of whatever was in there, I thought they were joking, nope !!
Must be worth a Mach loop trip! Enjoyed this 👌
Thanks… but it’s pretty slow around the Loop! Not saying no though! 😅
Overbanking would be a touch exciting, the photographers might enjoy it 🙃
If the sim lets you be the big orange hands man waving in the back, then I'm in! 🚁🦀
That’s a great idea! I’ll have to mention it to Miltech!
Thank you Chris, Awesome video
Pleasure 👍🏻
Video quality is looking great!
Seemed to hold up well. May have to crank it up even further! 😅
A man of many talents!
Misspent youth… and adulthood! 😂
You'll get invited for an "interview without coffee" with OC Ops Wing if you keep parking on the hangers 😆
Shorter commute! 😂
Absolutely epic!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Those maneuvers definitely took some skill!
Some misspent youth… and adulthood for that matter!
Great flying Chris, the rooftop "Landing" reminded me of US Special Forces lol. Also, have you ever considered making a community discord or something of the sort?
I have considered it, but there are so many discords, and I wouldn’t have time to run one
Lovely stuff.
😁
I don't need more addons, Chris! 😵 Nah, jk, another great video! (harddrive space is a real issue though 😥)
Don’t I know it! I use addon linker to save my addons to a separate SSD! 🤦🏼♂️
Nice one Chris
Thank you kindly 👍🏻
One for the algo. Great channel.
Thanks, appreciate it 👍🏻
The Chinook is, by far, my favorite "Choppah" in MSFS, at the moment. 😉
But personally (and the following is just a thing to note, for those who may not be aware), I feel that it's best, with the "Auto-Rudder-Assistant-Thingy-Setting" turned OFF. 😃 I know many like to have that setting turned on, which is totally okay, as the rudder controls in helicopters in MSFS can be (and usually are) quite "twitchy", if you don't have pedals (and generally, if your sensitivity settings are not adjusted).
But turning the assistance off, ofcourse, "loosens" the rudder controls, which, in my personal (and humble?) opinion, makes something like pedal turns more "drifty", which I prefer. 🙂
In itself, the Chinook is actually amazingly stable, and really doesn't need rudder assistant. Again, not that having assistance set to on is wrong or "stupid". But I just wanted to give the advise, that having assists on, means "harnessing" the Chinook, which is a huge shame. 😉
Makes sense. I believe my rudder settings are off. I love using my MFG Crosswinds! 💪🏻
Wokka Wokka! Great video, Chris
Thanks, appreciate ya!
The roof top excitement was real !!!!
It was stupid amounts of fun! 😅
I'm sure for most of us flight simmers flying helicopters in our SIM of choice is a guilty pleasure. Huey in DCS is mine 😎
It’s a tad worse for a fast jet mate to fly on the dark side! 😂
@@cgaviator true, you'll be disowned at the next re-union if you're not careful 😆
Nice paint job! Again, this is a module I'm looking forward to in DCS, but you can't go on "exercise" with it over NATO ground. Although the Afghanistan map is big news, together with logistics and the C-130 in development. 👌🇬🇧
Yeah, that’ll be epic! Instant purchase for DCS!
The software needs to model a couple of air crewmen winch weights - they would be looking out of the rear door talking you in, to assist you getting wheels onto a building
2nd point - its not vibrating enough - only ever flew in a Wessex and Sea King rotary wise - they vibrate a lot. Can't see a wokka being any different.
I agree! I had many flights in Sea Kings and some in Chinook, and the vibrations are clearly missing.
Too true! Though I’m not sure if frame rates would suffer if all the pixels were shaking all of the time! 😂
Will definitely get the Chinook. Just waiting on SU15 & the Miltech patch to bring multi rotor support.
Not heard of said patch, I am interested to see what SU15 brings. Hopefully nothing broken!
@@cgaviator In Miltech's words -
'With the release of SU15, Tandem Rotor Configurations will be officially supported by MSFS. We have been working on the new Tandem Flight Model from day one of the Beta, and since then we have been able to recreate the flight characteristics fully natively.
An update will be released shortly after SU15 to implement the new FM.
Among other things, this new Flight Model will include refinements to the engine model to better match the performance values of the CH47D. More dynamic simulation of transmission friction and variables that affect the Rotor RPM under abnormal circumstances. A more realistic simulation of VRS and Ground Effect. And may open the doors for individual control of rotor trim.'
@@D25Bev outstanding! Thanks
A low level cross country in the Chinook would be awesome
Defo, I think I may need to learn the checklist. Good stepping stone ahead of the DCS chinook
❤thx❤
My (guilty) pleasure! 😅
Strange beasts. I flew from Penzance to The Isles of Scilly in one, very strange feeling at lift off.
I’ve had my fair share of pickups and drop offs. Good bunch, the lot of them!
Awesome
Thanks 👍🏻
Finanlly! Someone who knows how to have fun in a helicopter!! 😂
All about the fun!
Just got this great model for my flight Sim, as a newbie I am not sure how to get all the different views that are in your video, like a walk through of the interior etc. Any help much appreciated 😊
I set up custom camera views that I can access via my stream deck as well as using the drone camera view control via Xbox controller so I can get the cinematic panning shots outside during replay using Sky Dolly
I am binging on the Westland sea king at the moment.
In what sim? By who!? 😳
Lol the title is great
😂 gotta warn my fast jet viewers that something off piste is happening! 😂 Need to head over to your media outlets and see what you’re working on next! 😉
I wish we knew the realest date for this on Xbox. I can't wait any longer
It’s a real shame there are delays between platforms
I'm guessing this requires far less rudder input than a standard egg beater?
Yeah, very easy to fly!
West, between Newbury and Wantage is where you need to go.... I know this because theyre low level at the back of my house on a regular basis, esp. at 1am....😂
Nice 👌🏻
@@cgaviator especially in the field at the back of my house, we're in Odiham's LFA and it gets used well 😂
careless torque costs lives
😂
It's beautiful although it's not able to perform two-wheel taxiing ... like the real thing. Cyclic and collective can't raise the front wheels alone.
I can’t remember if 2 rotor dynamics came to MSFS after this. Would be nice to get it working
@@cgaviator twin rotors should have been introduced with SU15. Let's see if/what Miltech can do now ....
How much is realistic from to 1-10 ?!
I don’t know, never flown one! But it sounds the part and looks the part 👍🏻
When is this out for Xbox?
Hopefully this week🙏🙏🙏
Here’s hoping for the Xbox guys!
It’s so painful watching other people fly it I’ve been on their discord every few hours for the past three weeks 😭😭
Love the video though nice to see the quick stops and wing overs to see how she performs😀
“Let me know in the comments what I’m doing wrong and what I’m doing right …”
You’re flying a helicopter - that is wrong 😅
I’ll have a word with myself!
Maybe it’s different in person but all the video and photos I’ve seen of this just look really unrealistic compared to most everything else I’ve seen for MSFS. I guess we got spoiled with the IFE F-14 but this model just seems so smooth and fake ? No panels or anything ? Chinooks are always so wrinkly in real life. Cockpit looks nice enough though.
It’s very much personal preference. Some people say there’s too much wear and tear, others not enough. I believe the more detail you add, the more polygons are used and the larger the frame rate hit. Tricky balance.
thats what she said.. 1:52. sorry
😂
Only one thing to say to that - Wokka Wokka
Or is that two things!? 😅
Modelling of buildings and roads at Odiham is wrong.
Hangar design is also wrong.
Pity.
Oh well, luckily I’ve never been so can’t notice! 😬
