just out of curiosity do you have to use the wax?
I tried this (from a different tutorial) the candles don't burn and there is a risk of the cup going on fire in the microwave - mine have brown scorch marks on them 😳

You didn't blow it out at the end, they don't work. They don't stay lit. Rob from Man vs. Pin did this and they don't work. Don't lie to your fans and have them try to do all of this when it just doesn't work.
ForeverFalls243 Honestly I blew it out (or waved my hands) to get that footage. Promise. I did not lie. But, I also didn't further test the candle, because I wanted to keep it for decor. Trust me, when I knowingly fail at or mess up a project I let my viewers know. Hence the Pinterest Fail videos I have (& I document my mess-ups in various tutorials). :)
Alrighty well, I believe this doesn't work only for the fact that the waxes are different types. Don't get me wrong I love you and your channel I was just making sure everyone wasn't misinformed.
ForeverFalls243 Rob also didn't do them correctly and kept fucking them up, not to mention the fact that he didnt buy fresh wax, he just melted it from a candle.

Of course u can melt everything on the stove top. It would just take longer to melt than the microwave
i watched thread banger do this but the flame stopped burning as it got to the wax... why do you think that happened?

I think it's because she added wax to each individual crayon which helped with the melting and Rob didn't use enough wax but just used the wax itself from the candle? Wait, what? I'm not sure anymore! 😫
beautbabe2000 It doesn't work none the less. The wax in the crayons is differen that's why the flame can't melt the crayon wax. You'd work better with food coloring

I saw another video of candle making and they said not to use crayons because it clogs up the wick and it'll stop burning. Do you find that that happens or does it burn just fine? Cause I wanna make some of these.
Probably the crayon because of the higher oil content. Wax burns slower

Yes any crayons would give the same results and you don't have to use whole crayon for such small amount of wax just a bit of crayon shaving would do.

As far as I know they do in maine. If your kids have new crayons. then i would & will be making candles from the broken used up ones. You are right though.

How come the paper cups not catching fire in the microwave?
Because, you can heat food on paper plates. :)
While this is true after a few minutes paper does tend to catch fire.
If paper catches fire in your microwave then I would get a new
microwave!
dt LO It is only certain types of paper that will catch fire if heated long enough.
Wax paper, parchment, cooking bags and paper plates are safe.
However, when you have a stack of papers it is possible for them to ignite. Also, if the paper is crumpled into a tight ball it may ignite, whereas a loosely crumpled ball won't.
I looked up the info after i asked the question.

it works better if you use an old glass mason jar or glass cup because they help the wax to melt faster and you can clean them easily so you don't have to throw it away after you use it. just dont put it in cold water when you finish using it... the jar will crack... and pick it up with an oven mitt, it tends to get hot

Followed the instructions perfectly, but end result was my 8 year old daughter in tears ... I spent $40 to make 4 candles in 4 hours that looked nothing like your result. She and I were so disappointed as we followed video instructions to the "T". I'd advise do more research on wax temperature and incremental layering. Crayons are not meant to be used as candles as they melt at a different temperature this results in each layer melting into the previous layer. Finally, crayons burn much much faster ... so don't expect to burn a crayon candle as instructed in this video.
What kind of wax did you use?
We did this craft in high school many years ago with crayons and straight paraffin wax. Turned out just like this vid. (except we used a liquid scent)

Probobly didnt do it right
That's so horrible I used mostly things from my house. We put it in the oven on 250 F and put real candle sticks in it. Maybe that made a difference. I think it was the paraffin that did the trick.
i dont think that was it my candles didnt work because of the wick i used mine that didnt work were Yaley wire wicks

That probably smells like shit. Burnt crayons smell bad.
Truly Infamous and adds some nice toxins to your air as well. Use beeswax instead.

So helpful. lol I had a black out on sunday and I had all the ingredients so I made it. I had a fire stove which you could light with matches and I welted it with that. Very helpful!
