Man you Texans go fancy. Up here in Canuckistan everyone tore that stuff out decades ago, all solid wood or stone now, i started out as a youth working with that kind of mouldings so it's been nice when a customer asks for old school look's. Rare though.

I understand why you pocket join, having that Castle machine is very nice, I have Kreg Machine, it's not as fast or as good as the Castle, but it motivates me to pocket join a lot, I also glue up, the caveat is, GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, you know what I mean. Nice work by the way.

I’ve been watching this channel for years. You’re a skilled carpenter and craftsman. It’s obvious that you care very much about your work. I tried so hard to find people like you when I was remodeling my home, and it was impossible. I even shared your videos with the carpenters I hired to install wainscoting and they did NOT do as good of a job. Frankly, I don’t think they watched the videos.
Anyway, thank you for making these videos. I’ve enjoyed them for a long time.

Absolutely, tape measures are great for setting a baseline, physical fitment for marking and final cuts is the most accurate method for final cuts and assembly. I like building custom furniture I don't like rebuilding the same thing over and over but you have totally inspired me to start learning and doing some fancy trim work, I'm gonna start with a complete home re-model. You have given me so many ideas to brighten up my home and to make it feel more cozy, the goal is to make it feel like I never wanna leave. About 10 years ago I started my woodworking journey and got addicted, I've always worked with my hands, went from electrical and HVAC to being a master automotive technician with an L1 specialist certificate, I will always have a passion for custom automotive work but I'm equally passionate about anything wood related. Now that my home is paid off I will be building a hangar style garage with a lift in it in the back yard with an attached metal shop and next to that will be a 15 × 30 woodshop.

Measuring lends itself to three more possible chances for error.
    1. Reading your tape measure wrong
    2. Writing your measurement down wrong
    3. Marking your work piece wrong
Marking in place is the only truly accurate way to measure
