Truly a compelling story. Great actors, set quality outstanding. This tells a far greater and truthful depiction of WW2 on the German side than any other show. America was divided on the subject or Germany even after the war had started. This show doesn't hide from that fact as many do.
The overwhelming majority of Americans were firmly against Nazi Germany. In US and UK there were some dissenting voices, but to portray the businessman as helping to significantly finance the Nazi regime is false.
What's to hide? There were always isolationists, and always will be. In the end, the US exerted the right of its ships to navigate the seas.

Have you watched Generation War (original title "Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter")? If not, you have to! It shows the war and the Eastern Front from the German side, it's great but way shorter than this Das Boot series, it only runs for about four and a half hours in total

It’s hard to like a traitor even when he is aiding your side…. I wish poor Benedict Arnold would have reconsidered. I read that after the war when he lived in London, a majority of Brits couldn’t stand him for the fact that he was a traitor… even though he helped the Brits quite a bit…
It certainly is a shame that you edited out the rest, as that was fantastically well done, and in a sense even more interesting.

I loved the original Das Boat but I think this one was better but I still liked the original the whole series was put together brilliantly top marks definatly a 10 out off 10

This is only 1/2 the series. I cut out all the French underground scenes & did only the U-Boat scenes.

What happened to episodes 5-8?
each episode is actually 2 episodes that I edited into 1 because 1/2 the show was edited out seeing it was all about the underground, I only kept the submarine parts.
5 & 6 is 3 & 7 & 8 are my episode 4.

Nazis were concerned that Enigma cipher will be cracked if it was handed out to Americans. If this series takes place at year 1943 it was already cracked. Nazis were totally clueless about it during the whole war.

The U-Boat depiction is superb. The rest of the movie is tedious garbage to watch.
One thing they did have and that was a lot of morphine.

Really?? A German submarine captain 'intending' to turn his boat over to the Allies?? Great acting, great special effects- both of which are ruined by an absurd storyline which has no basis in reality. They just took the plot form "The Hunt For Red October" and adapted it to WW2.
