About this Izmir travel vlog:
I was lucky enough to stay in Izmir for a month. It’s one of the best Turkish cities and provinces. This vlog covers the cities Ephesus and Izmir.
In Ephesus, I got to see a lot of interesting historical attractions, such as:
- The Great Theater of Ephesus
- Library of Celsus
- Curetes Street
- Terrace Houses
- Temple of Artemis
- The Basilica of Saint John
I saw some Izmir attractions also:
- Kordon
- Konak Pier
- Kemeralti Bazaar
- Kizlaragasi Han Bazaar
- Izmir Clock Tower
- Asansör
- Kadifekale Fortress
- Kültürpark
- Alsancak
I also tried some of the local Izmir cuisine. I got to eat a Kumru sandwich, which is local to Izmir. I also tried some Turkish snacks called Boyoz and Bomba. Delicious!
About Ephesus history:
Ephesus was an ancient Greek city on present-day Türkiye's western coast. It flourished as a prominent cultural, commercial, and religious center in the ancient world. Established around the 10th century BCE, Ephesus became famous for its Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city was also significant for its strategic location, serving as a vital port for trade routes between the East and the West.
Ephesus grew under the rule of various Greek and Roman empires during the Hellenistic period, experiencing periods of prosperity and architectural splendor. The city reached its zenith during the Roman period, becoming the capital of the Roman province of Asia.
Ephesus was renowned for its monumental structures, including the Library of Celsus, the Great Theater, and the Temple of Hadrian, showcasing its architectural prowess and cultural richness. It was also a center for early Christian activity, as evidenced by the presence of the House of the Virgin Mary and the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians in the New Testament.
However, the decline of Ephesus began in the 3rd century CE due to factors like earthquakes, silting of the harbor, and shifting trade routes. By the Middle Ages, the once vibrant city was largely abandoned, eventually becoming an archaeological site that attracts millions of visitors annually, offering glimpses into its glorious past.
About Izmir tourism:
Izmir, located on the Aegean coast of Turkey, is a bustling metropolis with a rich tapestry of historical sites, vibrant culture, and stunning natural landscapes, making it a compelling destination for tourists.
The city boasts a fascinating history dating back thousands of years. It is evident in its well-preserved ancient ruins, such as the Agora of Smyrna, Kadifekale Castle, and the Roman period ruins at Ephesus nearby.
Beyond its historical allure, Izmir charms visitors with its lively bazaars, delicious cuisine, and picturesque waterfront promenades. The vibrant Alsancak district is an entertainment hub featuring trendy cafes, restaurants, and nightlife venues.
Furthermore, Izmir is a gateway to the stunning Aegean region, with its pristine beaches, idyllic coastal villages, and scenic landscapes awaiting exploration.
Whether it's soaking in the rich history, indulging in culinary delights, or basking in the natural beauty of the Aegean, Izmir offers a diverse array of experiences that cater to every traveler's interests.

Your pronunciation of Turkish places are so good that sounds like without accent i love it bravo:)
Hahaha I do my best!
We are happy that you love our country. I discovered you with your Ankara vlog on November 10, I was very impressed. You are really professional and very nice. It is very nice and valuable to see you in our country. Have a good journey.🤍
Nice of you to say so! I’ve got more videos on the way!
I want learn English so I watch your videos.Your videos are very nice and very useful for me. I live in Diyarbakır.There are many beautiful things in Diyarbakir, the city of Turkey, such as the city walls.
I hope they are helpful! I didn’t get to Diyarbakir this time but I hope to on my next trip!
Another quick fact;
Before Kültür Park, there had been Greek neighborhoods in its place.
However during the struggle of liberation of İzmir, a great fire broke out which destroyed a huge chunk of the city.
Having seen the destruction, Atatürk ordered the rehabilitation of the land and building a park right in the middle of the city.
There are some horse statues in and around the park.
They are an homage to the working horses that died during the construction.
Statues as well are erected by Atatürk’s instruction as he was a great horse guy.
Thanks for sharing that too! It’s a pretty nice park. I enjoyed walking around it on sunny days
Ok quick fact.
The fountains at Konak Square mark the original shoreline as it is mostly landfill today.
The clock movement of the tower has been looked after by the same family for the last 150 years.
And I used to live right across the top floor entrance of the Asansör.
Gorgeus view, lots of tipsy sunsets…
Good info! Too bad I didn’t know earlier. I would’ve used it
There definitely was an extreme prejudice against Artemis and the temple of Artemis after the christening of the Roman Empire. Some of the stones of the Temple of Artemis can be seen in Hagia Sophia.
I was really happy to see it! I found out about the stones in Hagia Sophia afterwards. I wish I would’ve mentioned it in the video!
Excellent episode! One of my favorites. Great job!
Good to hear! Thanks for watching!

Thanks! I really enjoyed Izmir! I hope to go back in a different season!
Thanks for visiting my hometown Izmir💖 And yes it’s gigantic& so much fun✨ You have a special talent to catch the right moments to enjoy the things, just like drinking Efes in Efes hahaaa😁 Appreciate that.🎉 Have fun

I’m glad to see you too! Thanks for tuning in!
I am a Turk and if you are curious about Turkish history, there is a way to see it. You can go to Çanakkale and see the martyrs' cemeteries there, but I cannot guarantee that you will not cry because I have not seen anyone who did not cry.
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
You should visit Bolu too mate, if you come again Turkey you should meet with your fans :D.
I’ll put it on my list! I did get to meet with a few fans, which was nice. If you check out the video I did in Antalya which I’ll put out soon you’ll find out haha
Choco-boyoz is great idea😅

@@TravelLordOnLoc turkish pastry weak in izmir, that two are the best of worst. Locals love them, some how. I rather inner and northern anatolian pastries.

So interesting! And cool that they were selling tape cassettes in the market. 😊
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Totally cool. And what’s with the cats? They follow you everywhere. You’re the cat whisperer!
Haha! There are cars everywhere in Türkiye!
There were more than a hundred cats in the backyard of my old house in Istanbul. Of all colors, of all types, of all psychology... I watched the original of the musical Cats for free, that is, for years... especially during periods of their sexual arousal.
we would also like to see you at International Ephesus Opera and Ballet Festival 💃🏻
I would also like to see myself there hahaha I will look into it but have a few things to do in the near future so not sure if I can make it…
Great video!! you should visit to Niğde and see Gümüşler Monastery. :) thanks for video.

Great to hear! I appreciate that!
❤
Thank you!
Efes (Ephesus) ((Apasa)) is amazing. Welcome to İzmir (Smyrna) ((eİsmr)). I watched you at İstanbul. (Constantinople) ((eİstanpol)) You will love my country Anatoli(Anadolu) very much.🇹🇷 Artemis (Cybele) should be amazing in that times. There are some bad Greeks who want to own and occupy our country's lands due to faulty education systems. Our ancestors have been whisper us for a long time that we are an older civilization than the Greeks among the ruins . Respect to everybody. Peace
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you like the videos!
My friend stay long time in İzmir in Turkey
I stayed for a month!
@@TravelLordOnLoc What do you like in İzmir can you explain please ?
❤❤❤
Thank you!
@@TravelLordOnLoc We thank you for doing this Turkiye videos. 🥰
@@mlsphotobybrentwoodgraphic3124 I still have 5 or 6 more to edit!
👍
Thank you!
👍🇹🇷
Thanks!
If you like to pronounce "Türkiye" with a little less accent, you can think of the way you say "cure" in English and use that vowel sound for first syllable of Türkiye.
Wow thanks for the advice! Very helpful! I’ll try it out!
I wish go to the Antalya, Turkey . Aspendos teathe some likes Efes.
Else to be seasides and great food !!! Konyaaltı beach likes to Europe. Both of history and sea, marina ,trees like it
I have a good video about Antalya that I’ll post soon!
Haiyaaaa please come back Malaysia 🇲🇾 travel and eat more delicious foods yaaa 😮😮😮
I’m in Malaysia at the moment! I just have a lot of videos I already shot over the last few months that I didn’t post yet. I will have more Malaysia videos soon too!
You should go Cappodocia🎈
I did! I have a video posted about Nevsehir!
Well, as a Turk I must say that you really disrespected our kitties there, they NEED to be petted sir!
Great video as always, though
Edit: I made this comment before I saw you pet that calico but still, all those kitties left unpetted in the Terrace Houses and Efes... My heart and affection goes out to them
Hahaha I do my best! There are so many though so it is impossible to pet them all
@@TravelLordOnLoc Hahaha, fair enough. I'll let you off the hook since you are the perfect travel vlogger
Very interesting videos. Few important corrections. Turkey is not in the middle east alough close to Syria in SE region. Also in one of the videos you were unable to recognoze feta cheese which is ataple in that part of the world. Little more research about the place, its customs and food would help. Also in one of the videos you described an ottoman hat as Fez which is different and cylindricle with a tassle and red in color. Alcohol is not prohibited in Turkey and is not only made by asyrians but also by Turkish people in Madrin.
Thanks for the info! I’ll look into those corrections!
Selam, sana Martin Bernal'in Black Athena kitabını öneriyorum. İlginç bulacaksın 👍
Thank you! I’ll check it out!
I thought it would have been better if you had used the name of Ephesus in the title of the video. I wish you a good trip.
Thank you! I might update the title. I was thinking about that also!
I hope Türkiye videos bring luck.@@TravelLordOnLoc
kadifekale yoksulların yeridir anneannemler mecburen orda oturuyor manzarası çok güzel evleri yavaş yavaş yıkıp yerine izmir'in hollywood'ını yapıcaklar
There were some cool neighborhoods built into the mountain there. And yes the views are amazing!
do you have to pay all of that seperately?
Which things do you mean? I pay for all of the things in the video
You did not the show the Odeon and the Latrine in Efes; both had important functions in governing the city: Odeon is the parliament where issues were publicly discussed and the Latrines are the public restrooms for the elites of the city where the decisions were actually made :)
Yeah I missed a couple things, but what I saw was well worth the trip!
Brother, you traveled at a very bad time. Normally, the places you visited would be very lively. Winter in Izmir is for a few months, it rains constantly and the wind blows. During this period, no one usually goes out. Festivals, open-air concerts and cinemas begin in spring.
Yes, I traveled in the fall/winter to experience the 100 year anniversary and November 10th. I hope to go back in the Spring or Summer. I still really enjoyed the places I visited though!
It is not original sandwich 😢
It’s not?!
I think it would be better if you show the surroundings rather than yourself while talking in your v
I try to do that but there are a lot of editing choices that determine what’s shown. I switch the views to edit out spaces, stutters or mistakes in my speech if I can. Also I try to edit out bad angles, weird lighting, etc. Sometimes it helps with pacing as well
Disagree 😂 I enjoy seeing him!
as a person who had lived in izmir he looks better than boring and ugly buildings :)
greek Turkey loll
Thanks for watching!
Are you an academician or historian or something like that? We like your videos and contents but know nothing about your background. We need more information for being convinced that you are not from CIA 😄
Hahaha you’ll learn more about me later on! I just do research on the topics haha
