Superdual X - Just clocked the 1000k mark and done heavy off-road in Australia. Absolutely brilliant bike, had two flats (my bad luck) and the centre stand worked a treat making changing very easy. My last trip I hit a rock on a steep incline hard and bent the centre stand slightly, but better to do that than damage something far worse:) All in all loving the bike, great on-road and excellent off. I got the comfort seat as the standard is not great.
I have the SD T (bought in 2017 and a second one in 2019) and I am fully happy with the bike being a reliable and fun partner on long distance on-road and off-road tours. Light adventure bike with lots of skills. Just the bike I was searching for for ages!
I have had mine in Australia for over 2 years and 15,000kms and it haven't missed a beat .And its spent at least 80% of its life off road , Mud ,Desert sand , rocky High country , river crossings " a fantastic bike " I'm only 5,5 and I ride it fine I do agree about the centre stand a pain to get down, other than that a fantastic bike.
Fantastic feedback, thank you!
Motors for the Masses all good mine has been riding most of the time with smaller bikes like KTM 300 , 500,s WR,s in enduro style riding “ and it’s coped a beating “ and I do ride like hard , I will be buying the SWM RS 500 next year
How did you find the ground clerance on your trips offroad? Looks too low?
@@FernitoAM , it’s not to bad ( just log crossings is an issue if they are large ) but then your properly using the wrong tool for the job 👍
I have one and it does come with a rev counter on the multi function dash. Mine is 15kg lighter than std as I removed the centre stand (3.2kg) replaced the battery with a lithium one (3Kg) and had a custom 2-1 exhaust made (8kg). I agree the bike is a bit tall but I'm only 171cm and manage. I considered a DR650 but by the time I added the extras that come with the superdual it was more expensive. Overall I am really pleased with the bike.
Would you say the 15kg saving makes a big difference?
Kostas Jezuz it certainly does. The bike is more flickable and handles better
hi, could you give me any info on the 2 : 1 exhaust, and did you have any problems with fueling ? Cheers
I've had my SWM SuperDual X for 9 months putting 5K on the clock. Love it. Great bike at a great price.
Dodger Mohr - Motorcycle Adventure hey mike this bike come with the tube or tubeless
javedali shaikh Tube.
hi!
Hope you're well,
Could you tell me how you find this bike on the motorway? in terms of overtaking from 70 to 80mph, and wind protection?
also, how is the fuel efficiency?
Thanks!
When manufactures call there bike 650 when there is really a 600 motor in the bike (or any other seemingly incongruous nomenclature with regard to engine capacity) it often refers to the class that the bike can race in. For a example, a 600cc bike will be slightly under 600cc so it can race in 600 class even when the engine has wear. Using this logic, a 610cc engine can't race in 600 class but it can in 650 class....which it what it says on the side of the bike, '650'. You might say, 'I've never seen a 650 racing class'. However, in some countries there could be such a class so manufactures usually nominate there bike size in brackets of 50cc when the bike is more than 200cc. A 175cc for example would race in 200 class.
Really like the channel.
There is one more and may be the best light adventure bike ... -- AJP PR 7 . It is full on rally replica and most capable off road adventure bike . Made in Portugal with full Husqvarna heritage.....
And costs like new tenere 700.
Ummm the AJP is not anywhere near the same price as the tenere.... 🤔
@@aaronlees2204 Yea, I know it's more expensive, but it is much lighter and has excellent suspension. Nothing to work on, or improve. The parts are top spec.
Ajp is another super easy to service motorbike. The 2020 model compontents are very good. But well the t700 will sell like hot cakes but wait for the service costs...
@@sebastianescudero8712 On Tenere Yamaha is bolting cheap parts......compared with AJP has all top spec parts. I love Tenere , but it is just too heavy.....
Does have a rev counter, kind of. A bar graph up the right side of the instrument. You can also get a digital RPM if you toggle through the displays.
Great review. I've been looking at these bikes for a while now. They're about $10,000 here in Oz and there are lots of trails to ride. Think you're review has tipped the scales in favour of purchase. Also liked the comparisons.
Seems to be a perfect light bike for trails & stuff. Going to test ride it shortly.
As an "adventure bike" rider and a trail rider I followed this bike for a few years before it came out. Was all set to buy one but at the last minute bought a 2011 Tiger 800xc. After test riding both, the Tiger was smoother and a more accomplished road bike for touring. I would still love to get a Super Dual to go with it as an off roader :)
I've been looking into this bike for a while ,thanks for the review ! There aren't many single cylinder, light weight adventure bikes that have enough power to eat up miles both on and off road out there, and the price is right! Now, if only it was 15 kilos lighter, then it would be the perfect bike!
As stated somewhere above; get rid of the mainstand, get a lithium battery and a lightweight replacement exhaust et voila....minus 15 kg's!
See comment above mate..that guy saved 15kgs!!
Great overview of the bike. and good that you were honest about the "problems" you found being extremely minor ones. gas cap cover, center stand, etc. I would like to hear if your dealership did take on the SWM bikes, and if you have a follow up on how the bike has performed. also, if you have sold a lot of them, maybe you can tell us what your customers have said about their experiences with the Super Dual. I looked at a lot of the other bikes you mentioned, but wanted a 70/30 bike. Other bikes are more for street and long adventure/touring. Yes, I bought an SMW SD-X this week.
I don't think SWM have a UK importer at the moment since 3cross folded last year.
Love your style. The more I see of you guys the better it gets. I also don't understand how companies get away with the engine size thing. Call it as it is.
Because red is Italy's national racing colour from the beginning, much like British racing green, French blue, German silver. And for that reason whatever bike/car from Germany is painted silver or a shade of silver.
I like that - except the centre stand, but at least it does have one. I struggle getting on and off ( particularly off ) with all bikes with panniers, and end up standing on the foot peg when getting off the bike. However, for £7k - £7.5k I feel I could live with it ( especially as the luggage is quite often a manufacturers extra ) However, what were you talking about when you said the Himalayan is ugly? I think they look great ( utilitarian, but great ) So much so that I bought one. And, it's probably the most off road capable of all the bikes you mentioned, especially as it's cheap enough to drop whilst going off road, and I'm speaking from experience lol.
Fair enough. I did feel RE was worth a mention. It does serve a good purpose but 25bhp...not really fair to bunch in this bracket. Looks wise....marmite I guess.
@@motorsforthemasses Yep, a bit of a stretch to put it in with the other bikes. Maybe if/when they bring out the 650 twin Himalayan there's a lot of rumours about. It least it would be a 650 as they'd use the engine from the new Interceptor.
it has a rev counter... :) i have the 2018 model.
And i have the Mitas-07 tyres front and back. and it's a great ... GREAT offroad bike! i took it on some heavy stuff.
Getting a great deal on a new 2018 SWM Superdual T but apprehensive as it's been discontinued in India. How's maintenance?
You guys have the best job ever like the look of this bike, very nice, great video as always 👍
greetings from northern Greece, Pella-the heartland of Macedonia---Nice videos...fun to watch and I like you have a big couch at your place of work, even though you are no couch potatoes ... :)
Ive got one....love it, but i would wouldn't I.......it replaced a 25 year old aprilia pegaso and it's everything i wanted it to be, quick nimble, cheap to run. The husqvarna underpinning is reliable.
How many miles per gallon can you get out of it, please?
I was not looking for one and ended up with one in a trade. I would agree with this review but not so picky. The center stand is different but not a problem. The bike gets great gas mileage. The suspension is quite stiff and easily adjusted to its softest settings. I'm 6' 200 lbs. I ride sport bikes and throwing this into corners is a gas. ENJOY! Now where can I get those saddle bags?
So much time complaining about peanuts but not talking about the simplicity to replace the sparkplug or how easy is to find the air filter. Those things matter too....and it is normal that it moves at a certain speed because of the paniers.
loved the rant about manufacturers not giving the right cc as part of the model's name 😆
Himalayan is not ugly, it's spartan style as it comes behind the name & the needs of mountain passes bike.. You guys should visit Itchy Boots channel to figure it out ..
After being bitten by Italian build quality and reliability twice ( thank you Gilera and Aprillia ) I relented and had a careful look at the Superdual. The biggest drawbacks to the SWM are short service intervals and lack of dealers, not ideal for what is a small adventure bike that you will rack up the miles on. In the end I could not bring myself to buy one.
Fair enough
Husqvarnas were more reliable when built in Italy than the ones built by KTM. You expect pre-EFI bikes of Gilera and Aprilia to be reliable?
there all same servic nm dif
At 5ft 10'' a 21'' front wheel is a killer for me. I had a BMW Sertao and even lowered it and it still felt too tall. I now ride a BMW X Country and with a 19'' front wheel it's perfect -just my opinion. This is a lovely bike though and the Husky engine is the same as in the CCM Spitfire so well proven.
*BMW engine :)
I think the Tenere 700 dollar for dollar crushes the swm...
Which is kind of a bummer.
These go for about 10k in the USA and i feel like they would be great at 6-8k
lol not in offroad thats a touring bike
12k
VIABLE platform ..good price .. Need better marketing ..just like the VOR 530 I had ..sweet bike but didn't take off ..have an ATK 605 ROTAX BIKE 99% COMPLETE ..BUT TRYING TO FIND PARTS FOR SUCH .THATS MY ONLY FEAR ON THESE..IN THE FUTURE..IM MORE DUAL APORT EMDURO ..THEY HAVE BASICALLY THE HUSKYS FORM 2000 -2010 ARENT THEY
15:50 talking abouth the center stand... "If youre on your own.." why would you need pillion pegs? Fling em! Or at least stash them in the pannier in case you get lucky at the local pub, in which case, get her an uber.
Good plan lol
Loving your review, tks a lot from italy!
👍👍👍Nice review once again. Thank you for sharing. 👍 does anyone know anything about the CMC TEKKEN 250 and why they are not selling in UK ? I think would sell like popcorn like the LEXMOTO ADRENALINE 125... just maybe 🇬🇧
what's with the birds beak on the front on all of these bikes ?
I am looking at the SWM or the Yamaha T7 the SWM is nearly half the price of the T7, I want to keep my next bike long term and not sure of SWM long term reliability
half the price of T7? how come? it's 3/4 of the T7's price where I am from
611cc's..a 611 sounds cool I think! It's relative low weight and high power compared to 47 -50 hp 650's means I can forgive it's name as it's punching above it's size.great review tho I think the T may be a better road bike while still having some off road ability and possibly a better bike for blighty..adventure bikes are like chelsea tractors..very seldom see much off road use but the "adventure" title sells them for that world adventure very very few people ever get round to!!
"it's" is different from "its".
This is one of my LAMS possibilities (Victoria Australia). SuperDual X with a smaller throttle body. Suits my lanky frame.
Nice review I've, just purchased the T you couldn't test!.......😁
Why was the Honda Africa Twin not mentioned in the comparisons?
2022 do they still make it?. The 650.
i like single cylinder adventure bike damet!
Brembo are allso making Byrne, and nissen brakecalipers, so why put a pureblood pro caliper on a dualsport bike?
Hello Motors for the Masses, is this bike suitable for a complete beginner with zero experience? If not suitable what would you recommend in this style of motorcycle? I'm about 1.7m tall, with a 0.78 inseam. Can the bike be lowered?
As a newbie, something like the Honda CB500X might be the lighter, easier choice?
Getting a great deal on a new 2018 SWM Superdual T here in India but apprehensive as it's been discontinued in India. How's maintenance?
If you do get it please share your experience
Your center stand shenanigans were just dumb...nit picking
Lower it by stepping on the base plate than slide your foot backwards to the ‘whatchamekalit’ 😝😁🤣
Cheers
BB 🍻
Norton are still made here. Just down the road from me
Just an interesting question, I work in a bike garage in Liverpool, we currently deal with Clements moto (zontes&motorini) n Ajs, am I right in thinking SWM is imported by 3 cross? We are thinking of taking them on as well as mash and Peugeot
Hi,
yes!
This Swm to a Kawasaki klr650. What do you think is better
The RE isnt ugly !!! Its quirky ^^
You could describe it as that
How about this bike for a long travel? I'm talking about 25k to 35k travel.. this bike can be good enough?
Maintenance guys oil changes , valve adjustment?
Enjoyed the review these bikes are just now showing up in the U. S.
Great price point here also @ $8995 usd
My big concern here is dealer network as of now I think there's only 30 dealers nationwide
To clarify though these bikes are Italian built with Chinese money they have quality components but the real question is will they be durable in the long run
No mention of service intervals or the ease of routine maintenance (oil change, air filter, valve clearance ck)
They have Husqvarna based motors etc from their BMW era, so they should be durable enough
in a real jam a Husky or KTM part might cross-over.
Apparently made in Italy. Chinese money.
I would, one problem I would come up against is my short white hairy legs, do like that Husky lump.
What is that hose going over the dash?
You forgot to compare it to a Honda CB500X. The Kawasaki and Suzuki are great road bikes, but like a BMW GS1250GS, they are fat, heavy pigs that can't handle any serious adventure biking. Dump them a couple times and you'll haul them to the nearest dealership for a trade-in.
Are there many dealers?
When the review of the swm aceofspades 125........? 😉 You rock guys!
How High is that seat 890mm, clucking bell.
890mm isnt hight ... its altitude ...
How is the zontes going.
The T310? Very well received. A great bike!
How can you compare the KTM and Husky ( witch are essential the same bikes) and would out perform all the other bikes you show including the swm , yes they are more expensive but you get better fully adjustable suspension and proven enduro bike performance and pedigree , against what is essential a Italian designed Chinese built bike , yes it looks nice and it comes with boxes that help the “adventure bike looks” as with the crash bars! They look very thin and very close to the bike to offer any proper protection? So I’m thinking they are more for “ the look “ then function , but the price is good and most of them will never go off-road probably , build quality and how long they last is yet to be seen.
Not that Chinese built bikes are a problem these days; so many are superbly built...but this is Italian built. The funding comes from China, but they are built in Italy. Time indeed will tell on how well they last over time but are the KTM's and Husky's really worth £3k more? The crash bars are in sections and bolted on, not just a flimsy one piece frame for looks...but again, awkward to test without launching at some rocks etc.
Oh...don't forget it has the Husky engine too.
Motors for the Masses : well most of the parts are outsourced from different manufacturers , everything else is made in China for costs and it’s assembled in Italy and they say the engine is derived from the old husky motor. I wasn’t bashing the stuff coming out of China their quietly is well improved from years ago .
But comparing proper enduro bikes to the swm is pushing it a bit...
Metaldogrides They we’re comparing rival bikes. The Ktm/husky are enduro bikes where is the Superdual is sold as an adventure bike. However I can state that the bike is more than capable off road excluding single track. It’s a modern day Husky Te630 that has been made into an adventure bike.
So duz DVLA charge you over 600 cc road tax😟????from dave
600 or 650....still over lol
it's 599 so it's the cheaper tax bracket, half the cost of my Pegaso that was a 650. Don't know why manufacturers put these odd numbers on the bike. Triumph started it with the 509 and 595.
@@Brwmbfoz67 according to the records on DVLA for this bike it’s 600cc exactly. But.....the next VED bracket is OVER 600cc so it is £67/year not £93/year that a 650cc would be.
I know it’s a year old.....But I’m looking 😉
@@motorsforthemasses wrong
I Always ASK myself If dem exists in 3 or 5 years If euro 5 comes.
I think not.
I also get peeved when they call it a 650....
416 lbs. for off road riding , no thanks.
You two, make I larf 😂😂
3X are no more
Indeed. They kept that VERY quiet. Watch this space as to who will take over...
😂 was a Crack 😄
Himalayan ugly?...it's utilitarian at it's finest and more capable than the others at what it's meant to do . Mad the pair of ya ..if it's just about it being all fancy smancey ride a unicorn .
Himalayan is maybe one of the ugliest bikes of this type, seems like was made maybe 30 years ago! Fact 😝
650 when it's a 600cc and 2 tail pipes when it's a single. Hmm
4 valve head, it's not unusual to have one downpipe per exhaust valve. Most bigger singles have this.
The 2 tail pipes for a single is or was common.
REH is ug-lay? Hardly. And I suppose you think you're handsome! 😂
Wow! Great transition from object to person....no idea how you came up with that? Beauty is subjective.
You guys are creepy
Hideous.
Made in china ..🤔🤔🤔
