I had a 28 Skater with 300x's that ran 117 on fresh water. This boat takes a nice set with the 450's and runs hard. Would like to see one with the new 500's.
Great boat, I had a 24 Skater that had 2.4 engines, best boat I ever owned. Looked like the 28 had a slight porpoise and every time it drops down a little it will scrub speed. Early morning when it’s cooler might get you to 140 low on fuel. What a fantastic combination.
Thank you ...... And Brother, that was Amazing... felt like I was there in the boat... With you,Bro keep on,keepin on. Cant wait till 140 mph... And ur next video..
I know this sounds crazy but he's only pulling 6000 rpm. Max rpm I believe is 6400. May need to lower prop pitch to get maximum torque, may result in equal or just little more speed. From 136 to 140 sound like it should be easy but it can get really hard to achieve 4 mph. This is running so sweet at 136.
I have a 200 Merc on my 23 foot boat, and it only goes about 44 mph top speed, but with 10 people and 2 dogs, and 2 coolers it still goes 41. Sooo. I just love mercs.
When the 24's came out in the 80's lots of folk got hurt or killed. John Delia ran one in the NPBA and he mastered it . His Pops ran a Chris Cat name Special Edition. 100 mph outa da box wit two Bridgeports bro, fuggetaboutit
It will do 145 mph if you gut the boat and sit on a couple of milk crates . AWESOME ride ! Gives me goose bumps of happiness ! A little grey means , Highlights of Wisdom !! Thanks for the ride . St. Thomas , Ontario , Canada .
Good job with fine tuning that setup. I had a 32b Skater w1/4 canopies. With custom 38 pitch Merc. Racing151/2’’4 blades I dialed in 125. Had Merc. Racing build 39 pitch 15 1/2 diameter 4 blades she went 128. Try a little more pitch? Oh power was 575 mercs w/bravos
Looked like it was ready to take flight. And I know this is an old video, but when you were thinking your being heavier was slowing it down, what you weren't thinking about is that the boat probably burns 10 to 12 lbs of gas during every run. So the boat actually gets 10-12- or more pounds lighter after every run. I bet something in the engines warmed up a couple of degrees after that first run which will easily slow it down a mile or two per hour.
Cool and really fast, one question, why don´t you use a hotfot pedal for more control at the helm especially on these modern engines with digital throttles on them, then you can have both, hand when you are cruising and pedal when you are pushing for top speeds ?
My first boat 30+ years ago was a 25 ft. Cougar MTR with twin 4 liter V8 Johnsons modded to almost 400 H.P. each and I could barely get to a 100 on a good day. These modern hulls are so much lighter and better engineered.
How old is that hull? Any steps? It’s too wet, calm water and not much wind. You got all it had today. Not one of you knows how to strap a lifeline vest or the importance of eye protection. Still enjoyed the effort. Thanks
That is freaking awesome! Super stable.at high speeds. I have been in 2 boats in my life that concerned me. A buddy had a 15 foot Skeeter with a 200 Black max on it. It was crazy fast for what it was. Another buddy had a Vision bass boat with a 200hp Suzuki Exante that would peg right at 100mph. That was something else.
That's serious speed, I wonder what hp you can get out of the 450 if you put a fuel tech, holley , custom ecu?? Apparently you can mod the mercury ecu???
I want one with the 500R ! How coolmwould thaat be! Just the sound of that boat and engines is amazing! I wonder how much fuel he burns at 136mph? Who cares you are hauling ass Maximum fun😊😊😊
Propped correctly with the bottom ends at the right place this little 28' Skater should be doing at least 150mph. My brother-in-law recently bought a seconhand (16mths old) 39' MTI Carbon Ed. (11ft longer and much wider than this little cat) with 450Rs (>200hrs on the motors) it did 136mph GPS with props it came with but he got GPS 144mph afer lifting the engines 2cm and super-cupping the clevers to an extra 1" of pitch. Keep tuning guys as you should easily get 150mph. PS: the 39footer was setup for long distance / touring / adventuring so had huge fuel tanks and ~350kg of fenders, ropes, storage containers, Radios, Nightview IR and heat detection cameras, spare props, engine spares, etc. Top speed at purchase with tanks full and all that gear was only 132mph. Rumour has it the bigger 44' MTI's are good for ~135mph and they are nearly a ton heavier than the 28 Skater, just goes to prove you can tweek a bunch.
The tunnels on the 28s make the stability a concern at them speeds. I do agree that raising the motor will pick up MPH but the boat WILL become unpredictable at some point. The thinking that just because boat "x" did it means this boat can is misinformed. The 340, 390 and even the new 440 achieve the speeds you mentioned on a very efficient "cushion" , HP and setup is not the issue here its stability and testing. I understand your point and to be fair I DO think there is a fair amount more in this vessel but it would be like putting a GSXR motor in a mini bike and think you can outrun a street bike.
Sunoco sells 94 Octane PUMP Gas; they're known for having the best pump gas & race gas in the USA regardless so of course their 94 Octane Pump Gas would be worth looking into considering its also 1 octane higher than any other available high octane pump gas sold in the USA. I'm sure there's a Mercury Outboard ECU specialist in Florida somewhere that could match a custom map ecu flash to your specific outboards when paired exclusively to Sunoco 94 octane pump gas. Also one could order specially forged propellers from Italy or something. 🤷🏻♂️ Outboards are a pain to eek performance out of. Idk how people have patience for that type of performance tuning.
Okay I'm thinking inch-and-a-half /2in/3? off the windshield ,round the edges get rid of the cleats and center bow trim, double coat ceramic treatment on the hull, make rear seats fold down, and make the top 8 in on fronts removable. then fabricate pointy-nose cones for the flat front section of the 450s and knife-edge the very front of the lower units and polish them with water repellent ceramic coat like the hull, have the hack boys tweak the rev limiters on the engine control management to up the rev limiter 100 or so....put on a couple of those crazy variable-pitch props that add a couple degrees pitch on the top end around 5800 utilizing centrifugal force.oh... and keep your head down... I wonder if compression cones around the props would work to contain energy loss around the outside edges of the screws...or maybe quad props w contain/compress surroundz....orrr Get on the CNC machine and the lathe and fabricate us a trick ass set of bolt on shaft overdrive units for the lowers....aaaannd I wonder how the 450s would like some 105 race gas with a shot of nitrous right around 5 grand....? 🤔Hmmm
I know it's inboard vs outboard. But look at Hellrazor winning the robinvale 80 at 139 mph. With two skiers hanging off the back...here's the link czcams.com/video/etR6fbZ39XI/video.htmlfeature=shared

The level of disappointment in him is just as insane as 136mph is
That boat looks too smooth going over 135mph awesome video

You'll definitely get 140mph with the new mercury 500r
Thank you ......

Solid run. Great boat. 😎

Yes but how does it handle out on the ocean?
Love this boat ❤
It will do 145 mph if you gut the boat and sit on a couple of milk crates . AWESOME ride ! Gives me goose bumps of happiness ! A little grey means , Highlights of Wisdom !! Thanks for the ride . St. Thomas , Ontario , Canada .
Nuts man, nuts! Nice cat! Keep up the good work on these vids!
Wow there has got to be less than 1% of that hull actually in the water. So freaking cool! Its almost a ekranoplan!
This man is a trim expert.
Curious what props you have and the amount of slip. Next thing to try are the 500Rs.
The sound man, the sound!!!!
The guy everyone wants to hang with but such a grumpy old man lol! Sick boat
That's an amazing plane on that boat.
Sounds like a fallen airplay going by. Awsome.
Would love to ride asking in something like this. unforgettable Scary fast boat.
That boat rides so smoth wow
Good job with fine tuning that setup. I had a 32b Skater w1/4 canopies. With custom 38 pitch Merc. Racing151/2’’4 blades I dialed in 125. Had Merc. Racing build 39 pitch 15 1/2 diameter 4 blades she went 128. Try a little more pitch? Oh power was 575 mercs w/bravos
I LOVE Mercury outboards!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 28 skater with 450s before
About time, as it is 28 years since Charles Burnett recorded the same speed in a triple 2.5 EFI powered Skater 28 in Britain.

you never drove around all day with a pedal have you? right calf starts cramping after 2hrs...lol
My first boat 30+ years ago was a 25 ft. Cougar MTR with twin 4 liter V8 Johnsons modded to almost 400 H.P. each and I could barely get to a 100 on a good day. These modern hulls are so much lighter and better engineered.
Correct, this is all about hull and motor transom design. And prop design and maybe transmission. Power is least important.
How old is that hull? Any steps? It’s too wet, calm water and not much wind. You got all it had today. Not one of you knows how to strap a lifeline vest or the importance of eye protection. Still enjoyed the effort. Thanks
Now, this speed on a boat that I can fish on with 7 people at about 80 grand would be perfect.
Wow what a beautiful badass boat
totally awesome..
Thanks bra
thats insane!
Nice beast❤
He is disappointed not getting to 140 , while I would be happy to get from 39 to 40 on my 15 ‘ Bay boat ! 😂
136mph past my best fishing spot on the river, wish I could have been there to see it
I've been excuse me we've waiti g for this moment priceless
Are those v8 outboards?
That thing is so aired out! Wow!
Wow amzing bro power the best

Me when FWC pulls up to check my catch lol.
Шикарный звук двигателей!
You Left Cinema RIGHT
My dream boat. this is super.......
Warren nice boat
Love it.
Keep pushing vids. It's good to see you
That's serious speed, I wonder what hp you can get out of the 450 if you put a fuel tech, holley , custom ecu?? Apparently you can mod the mercury ecu???
motec has an aftermarket ecu that can be tuned it's not available in the US yet tho
Just one time in my life! I would love to take that ride! 😂😂😂😂😃😃😃
Aatounded at the stability of a boat banging 135+.
I expected some shaking yet dead nuts stable the whole ride .
Prefect Trimming and no chop
Thats the stuff Dreams are made of! Bad Azz ride gentlemen.
I want one with the 500R ! How coolmwould thaat be! Just the sound of that boat and engines is amazing! I wonder how much fuel he burns at 136mph? Who cares you are hauling ass Maximum fun😊😊😊
Shalom très bien
I like the speed ++++but with protective glasses; I would love to be in this boat! 😯😁😏

@@zachcrouse7977 😂😅
@@zachcrouse7977 You are correct. The MTI 440 w/ the same 450R's hit 136, and is much more stable than a 28'.
Tell him to put a tunnel tab on the back of the boat like the race boats run and it should pick up a few mph with the extra stern lift.
What a sweet looking boat! Twin 500 R's would break 140! And talk about stability at speed....Wow!
Ripper.. dam.
Pretty much a ekranoplan at those speeds. Flying on the ground effect only thing missing is the stabilizers.
Would 2x Merc 600's be an option on that boat?
no
REMKO....That would be nice but but their only $ 77 Grand Each....I think this Boat is Nice the Way it is....👍👍👍
I want o...., I need one of these !!!
I think you need to install an emergency pop-up spoiler so you don't do an end over
the boys!!!!
where was that .. go to palmico river .. that was reggies secret spot lol
That looks absolutely terrifying, yet so much fucking fun at the same time.
Yeah 🎉

BOA ESTABILIDADE EM ALTA VELOCIDADE.
You need **REALLY** smooth, still, flat and calm water to do this. If you hit any wake or waves that speed, you're toast.
He needs the new MERC 500R set up 👍🏼👍🏼
Scary fast. An Airplane with the same weight would probable be flying at 80mph.
Ia very good friend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Seems to be quite a bit of boat in the water scrubbing off speed? Yes?
was there wind noise. didn't even notice at that speed.
Badassssss!
If he's upset he didn't hit 140, hang a third outboard off the stern.
Love the vid and the Skater with the 450s surely is stable with the 136mph..Skater Nation 🔥
These 450R's are 2.6 liter inline 6 engines. The Mercury tower of power! Very similar to the RB26 Nissan that is such a hellraiser in the Skyline.
The outboards on the boat in this video are 4.6 liter Supercharged V-8
Okay I'm thinking inch-and-a-half /2in/3? off the windshield ,round the edges get rid of the cleats and center bow trim, double coat ceramic treatment on the hull, make rear seats fold down, and make the top 8 in on fronts removable.

Get on the CNC machine and the lathe and fabricate us a trick ass set of bolt on shaft overdrive units for the lowers....aaaannd
I wonder how the 450s would like some 105 race gas with a shot of nitrous right around 5 grand....?
🤔Hmmm
I just wish Skater would build a 28 inboard with a 572 blower motor , Iam just not big on out boards they just don’t have that big block sound .
bro should've waited for the 500s lol
Good information 😢
Time for the 500r
I know it's inboard vs outboard. But look at Hellrazor winning the robinvale 80 at 139 mph. With two skiers hanging off the back...here's the link
czcams.com/video/etR6fbZ39XI/video.htmlfeature=shared
change out that wind screen and get a wind tunnel test done
Slap two of those new 500r’s on there and let me have one of those old outdated 450’s for my jonboat!
Time for 600’s
Bryah
If he puts 500s on it he will most probly go over 140, maybe reach 145. My fav Skater would be a trip 500 368.
Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
Water was a bit flat. A little chop will gain you a few MPH. Weight definitely always matters though. Everything matters at this speed.
If I was driving, this would be about the point that some fishing boat would come out of nowhere and scare the shit out of me. 09:17 😅
My 17' hydrostream with blackmax 150 does 75mph
Браконьерить на такой лодке хорошо, не один Рыбнадзор не догонит. Окей👌🤗
those are the customers to run from. never happy.
>Needs 900HP to go 135MPH
Meanwhile I'm going 135 in in my 140HP Hyundai Elantra
I guess he needs two 600s cuz the props ain't cutting it!
