They will probably do other troops like Barbarians take over and that way they can announce new cards and at the same time give content like new ladders and test new ideas like the goblin queen ability. They can test all these kinds of things on a new ladder.

I eventually stopped playing the game consistently and then stopped outright for a few years. I came back like a year ago and it wasn't that bad. Then they added level 15. Still one pf Supercell's worst decisions to this day. I stopped playing again because making "passive progression" skippable with a credit card swipe was too much of a clown move for me. Then I decided that maybe level 15 wasn't so bad and came back to see the evolutions. At first I thought they were kinda cool, then I saw that a f2p player (like myself) would have to wait something like 6 months to get ONE. Yeah that's definitely 100% fair and cool. I really wanted to enjoy the game but it's just so hard. I wanted to fall in love with the game again but Supercell is making it impossible. I won't even play this new goblin update, it's too much of a mess. I just wish there was a 2016-2017 version of the game somewhere. I miss that era. No tower troops, no evolutions and only "level 13". I would definitely play that. I think people liked what private servers had to offer because they existed together with the base game. You want to play a strategic game? Play the original. You want to just relax and play a random mess? Play the private server. There was a choice. Now the original game became the private server and there's no choice anymore. Aight, imma stop yapping now. What do normal comments here say? Card levels are the kicker though, either the mode wouldn't be ranked/tied to tangible progression or you'd need levels. Level 15 has been a nail in the coffin for competitive CR and I sadly doubt it'll get any better.

For me i don't think the problem is the game being goofy, it's just a shame that as a f2p player it's hard to access new features, it's like we're getting updates with a 2 month delay whereas the people who pay get it instantly, its almost like a patreon where people who pay get content earlier

My main problem with Clash Royale is how they introduce new stuff rather than building on the existing things. Ex. not adding new cards (for a long time), not adding new star level skins, etc.
I actually liked the goblin road. It was a different janky mode that I had fun with, and if clash royale actually balanced the main game and then added in these spinoff modes it could be a way to have some fun things while also having a competitive vanilla game.
Ken, i just made a video posted yesterday talking about the games current state w/ the same perspective. Not sure why more people still expect it to be as great as it once was, but at the end of the day it’s fun, it’s goofy, and people need to let loose.
I gave up when champions came out But you got me interesting in clash royale again Not enough for me to play it, but enough for me to wonder where the game is gonna progress and your goofy decks bring out how crazy the game has become and I love it
It’s nice to hear an opinion that isn’t just “everything sucks this is terrible”. I understand why people are upset, but there is some good, and a while ago, getting any new cards was incredibly rare. Getting 3 brand new cards on an update is great for diversifying the game, even if you can’t unlock them right away.
my problem with the game is with the monetization side of things, not the crazy gameplay changes, you can have evolutions but just make them actually accessible to everyone (and elite level is the worst thing they’ve ever done)

Actually fully agreeing with Ken here. Clash Royale had become kinda goofy, and it shouldn't be taken seriously. I personally quit because I was bored of the game, and thought the season passes weren't worth it anymore. And without a season pass, you can barely advance in the game to actually unlock all these goofy new cards.
Really liked your take at the end Feel like supercell in general has started to cater to casuals way more. Goblin Queen Mode, Brawl ranked having modifiers, clash of clans balance changes, etc. Not necessarily a bad thing but for CR those type of updates don’t work as well imo. I actually ended up enjoying the update I found the goblin queen mode and the new cards quite fun though ofc the balance is ass. And it’s kinda unfortunate features like private tournaments or clan wars continue to get ignored
