- Hello and welcome back to Football Daily where today we are analysing a massive day in the Premier League title race that saw Arsenal lose at home to Aston Villa and Liverpool drop 3 points at Anfield for the first time since October 2022 against Crystal Palace.
What went wrong for both sides? Can they right their errors in the title race and put Man City under pressure? Who is to blame for these costly defeats?
As if that wasn't enough we also heap praise on Bayer Leverkusen following their 5-0 win against Werder Bremen that saw them win their first Bundesliga title and their first trophy since 1993. Does Florian Wirtz deserve to be in Ballon D'Or contention? What's next for Xabi Alonso's side?

Massive credit to villa , that second half was perfect
I’m no Villa fan, but even I think the title is a bit of a slap in the face to them!
Nothing new. We get heavily disrespected by the media, done the double over arguably the leagues best team and get no plaudits for it
Came to say this too. They are always very complimentary and offer a genuine insight to Emery/ Villa which other channels don’t
But the title surely could’ve been ‘How Villa destroyed Arsenal’s title hopes’, it’s not like Arsenal hit self-destruct and gave goals away like the end of last season.
I'm a Liverpool fan, I disagree with the point that it's almost more acceptable, or less drastic that we lost compared to Arsenal. They drew against Bayern in the Champions League midweek, we just lost 3-0 at home in the Europa League to an Atalanta side that are sitting 6th in Serie A. They also lost to Aston Villa, who are undoubtedly the best side outside of the 3 title contenders in the league, whereas we lost to a Palace side that have been meandering around at the bottom end of the table all season.
Arsenals result feels like a wake up call, ours feels crushing.
Also, I've said this before when we've been in title races with City and it now applies to both us and Arsenal, if this was any other era than the current one against any side that wasn't a financially doped team managed by the best manager in the world then losing a single game in your final 10/15 wouldn't be the end of the world. We regularly saw sides win the league with mid to high 80 points tallies. This Arsenal side and our Liverpool side of the last 5 years are two of the best teams our two clubs have ever seen in terms of points tallies, but they're competing against a side that has cheated to be in the position they are. It's bent.
As much as I've said all season I'd rather Arsenal win it than City it would've been harder to take in some ways if Arsenal did (or do) go on to win it, because then it's more about them just being better than us. When City win it, I genuinely just feel empty about it. They're an artificial club.
As a City fan who hates Liverpool, comments like this give me life, god bless your pure soul you made a strangers day, enjoy the last couple of games with klopp love!
oh nearly forgot 115 charges and counting, you’ll never sing that.
@@joey7184 I'm sure you've had a great time in your long, long 3years of supporting City. Look forward to seeing whoever you jump to when it all comes crashing down.
@@TJW-YT funny now we're seeing all the salty comments come out again as soon as we're doing well again (not even changed, just you two have bottle points) but it's always the money isn't it, never the mentality. Don't forget we've too have had big injuries, key players out, played every 3 days and are now going for a 4th prem in a row following a treble hangover... I'd say this season Arsenal have had the best squad in terms of a combination of availability and depth, and you had just as good a squad in 2021/22, but hey it's always about the money isn't it, like all high spending teams utterly dominate anything right?
@@sfb4144 No, I think you're just noticing them now. The comments have always been there. Your club cheated to get into the position they're in, there's nothing more to it. Small, plastic club with no history that is propped up on dirty money. It's not about being salty, we weren't in the title race last season, we didn't even make top 4 and yet we were all still saying it then. Everton, Palace, Forest, Wolves, Burnley fans aren't in the title race, yet they're all saying it too.
There's 115 reasons why your achievements are meaningless.
No team has ever won four top-flight titles in a row in England, so it really would be something for the history books.
A few have done three in a row. Huddersfield 23-26, Arsenal 32-35, Liverpool 81-84 and Man United twice 98-01 and 06-09
*How Villa Destroyed Arsenal's Title Hopes
Is the title you're actually looking for.
The Club Legends of Football Daily
(Villa fan) now the dust has settled, I don't think the league is over for arsenal or Liverpool, any thing can happen
Unay Emery has had one of the best seasons of any European manager
Think this title is bit disrespectful to Villa.
You’re looking for reasons to be offended
It is true Villa are irrelevant team. And the way Villa capitulated at Etihad is disgrace because it was intentional.
@@HenryChungFootballnah it’s a clickbait ass title
Disliked for the title, the disrespect shown to Villa is disgusting
Elite content
18 (top of the table) lead changes this year, it ain’t over til it’s over.
Very interesting
Wrong title should’ve said how unique emerys villa broke arsenal
Do we think 4 City titles in a row jeperdizes the validity of the Prem?
The narrative is always “Arsenal lost” not “Villa won”
I thought villa played well
But ofcourse arsenal through it away
And destroyed there title hopes
Fair play to Tuchel being the manager to finally break Bayern's domination over the Bundesliga
I’m watching this after both Barca and Atleti exited the UCL. So La Liga not looking as strong today as they did when they recorded this 😅
Foden has to be mentioned in balon d'or conversations man. More g/a than Bellingham, possible treble winner
Credit to villa but I think arteta gotta take responsibility for this one. Why move Kai into midfield when he’s been great at the 9 role. Plus being that villa play such a high line you’d rather have his speed and martinelli as well. Starting Zinny was a mistake and then taking off white instead of him in the second half was even more egregious.
Except Villa don't play that high a line against every opponent. We use it where we think it's necessary so although I agree Arteta's team selection was part of the issue its not the whole story.
Liverpool missing the chances they had was shocking!! It was a real life getting FMed.
VVD last 4 games has dropped off massively and it’s not being talked about enough. This is the supposed best CB in the world
Madrid drew at Bernabeau and now need to win in Manchester to progress, doesn't feel that good of a result for them.
Do a full video on Champions League when there is A champions League week of finals
Forget Man City or Chelsea and always remember that the real plastic club of England is Arsenal FC!
Their supporters always leave the stadium before the game is over even when they're in a title race!
The more plastic fans in world football!
Is it a coincidence that Arsenal played their best football of the season when both Jesus and Zinchenko were out injured?
Why did the manager have to bring them back in starting line-up, I don't understand. They should be waiting on the bench...
Zinchenko has been a liability for ages.... Rice had a poor day in office and should have been replaced by Partey....
He basically underestimated Villa and made a choice to try and conserve energy for the Bayern match.
This video aged 'well' 😂
If city win all their remaining games they will finish on more points than last season not sure what you mean by they're more gettable or not as good as last season and can still win a treble
The key word is IF - plenty of football to play still.
Made how Liverpool lost to palace but arsenal are the only team to get on the title
Lose one game in 2024 to 4th best team in league -> title hopes destroyed !!
Villa are a good side they're not 4th by fluke, good team and good manager. Theyve done the double over us and we havent scored against them! Give them some credit. The race isnt over and we still have hard games to play! We are 2 points behind, nothing has been destroyed yet! City can still drop points
Thank you as a Villa fan. And I agree with you the title race is far from over. I also think you learn more from failure and that this can be used to strengthen the mentality vs losing it. It begins tonight, I really hope you do well against Bayern.
Remember when Dougie said that Emi Martinez was the 8th best keeper in the premier league? He’s at least the 3rd best (just like emery)
Bit of a joke to talk about the title race but not discuss the team in first place
Perhaps Arsenal destroyed their title hopes by sacking Emery?! - UTV
Guys you can stop the how are you formalities if ur gonna admit it’s the 2nd time you’ve filmed straight after 🤣
Yay Leverkusen !
Leicesterkusen perhaps?
Yayverkusen
wonder why Arsenal is in the title and Liverpool isnt. Channel fell off so bad
Because we did a Liverpool title race title last week, genius!
(Dougie)
@@FootballDailyTitles of said videos:
Title over?
vs
How Arsenal destroyed their title hopes!
Stop pretending guys. It's blatantly obvious to us viewers, please don't take us for fools.
@@FootballDaily bore off dougie weve just been spanked by Unai i cant take it
@@therealking6202 yeah coz Liverpool only had a draw vs united away by being unclinical; arsenal just got completely outclassed at home and LOST and now have big ucl matches to deal with in a very tough run-in compared to Liverpool. It makes sense
@@sfb4144 84' and a throwaway 87' goal is... outclassed? How you people cannot see the clear and obvious negativity you associate with Arsenal is amazing.
Painful to watch you holding those mics.
La liga has the best football in my opinion, idk why people can’t accept that but the premier league is definitely the best league and more competitive.
I agree, I think all the leagues have something special to commend them.
Damn am I really the first comment?
Martinez' save on Trossard was not a "beautiful save" FFS. Trossard hit it into his foot. Emi knew nothing about it. Did you even watch the clip?!?
This is an abysmal take, Martinez is moving across goal and sticks his foot directly into the path of the shot. It’s a very good save.
@@AW-ux8sr FFS did you see where Trossard hit it? He had a gaping net to his left. If he hits it there and Emi makes the save, then it's a fantastic save. He didn't. He hit it right at Emis feet. Jesus man.. It was a horrible shot, it was not an "amazing save."
I agree it was pathetic lame finish from Trossard. I didn't think I would say that about Trossard because he is the best finisher at Arsenal
@@therealking6202 Trossard had the freedom of the shot which was reflexed, point blank and on target, Martinez's foot moved to block the shot. Martinez didn't have to dive but It was a reflex and a good save. If you watch Martinez regularly you will see how good he is with one-on-one situations. Despite my comment you always give the goalkeeper the benefit of the doubt if the shot was on target; therefore excellent save.v
@@user-wn3tg7gl2w 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the "freedom of the shot.". What a clown. Remember, Emi played for Arsenal. And we all saw him at the World Cup. You don't have inside information. Dude...Emi was sliding over. Maybe Trossard was trying to go against the goalies' movement, but he shot it right at Emis feet. Yes, Emi had to react....by letting it hit his foot. 90% of PL goalies make that save, guaranteed. It was nothing special.
Why dont you talk about the UCL games like wtf
