Art Bell Talks About George Noory On His HAM Radio

  • I found this obscure audio file on some peer to peer file sharing program several years ago. I've not seen it since, so I'm glad I held onto it. It's late night radio legend Art Bell talking about the guy who replaced him, George Noory. I get the feeling Art is rather disappointed by what happened with Coast to Coast AM after he stopped serving as the show's full time host. I don't blame him. I, too, am disappointed. I find the new version of the show to be an exercise in mediocrity with George Noory as host. Come talk about it with us at CoastGab.com

It’s an old way of life living on the outskirts of AM radio Art would have one million listeners on his best shows. Joe Rogan can do almost 45 million on a podcast. I know it’s apples to oranges Art was the best at what he did. Art will be missed and remembered always.

@Mr G It means, you can depend on Noory to show up and not be a diva and quit whenever he does not get his way. Art quit his Sirius show because Sirius refused to provide a "FREE ONLINE STREAM", for Art's Dark Matter show, as if Sirius' business model is based off of free streams. Art quit Midnight In The Desert like a month and a half after its launch and lied and made up a story about a "stalker" shooting his gun at Art's house even though the police blotter made no mention of that event because Art quit and to add insult to injury Art lied to his loyal listeners.
After it was announced Art died, I was waiting for Art to make a Facebook post saying that he quit being dead and now he's back.

He was always thought provoking, and awakened my spirituality. Noory is just terrible. He has the most boring guest, like the numbers lady, and let's people ramble incoherently for as long as they want. They destroyed that show.
I know Art Bell, and his now deceased wife, Ramona very well.
I've been to Art's house out in Pahrump a few times. I really miss Ramona, she was an awesome, sweet lady. Use to talk to Art a lot when he was on top of his game, prior to Noory coming on board. He was truly the king of the airwaves in nighttime talk radio. Sad to see him rarely broadcasting. I've talked to Noory several times as well, and when he first took the reigns of the show, he did ok.. but in no way was he Art.. can never replace that on-air talent.
I still have a couple T-shirts that Ramona gave me, not show shirts, were actually personal shirts from Ramona and one from Art.. they remind me of the trips I took out there. Miss the guy on the air. His voice, his operation method of the show, everything. Great piece of history gone because of network greed.
In fact, lol, that full legal limit Alpha amp he's talking on, I've operated that actual amp and his radio from that very shack.

The times I stayed at their house, I swear she had a little crush on me lol. She’d always do casual flirting, in front of Art of course. She didn’t hide it, it was more of a joke and never taken further.
I was around 27-28 the first time I stayed there.
So, in back of that Ham radio station he has, it’s on the north wall, end of his big mobile home.
Turn around the other way, there was his full Premiere radio console, all of the controls, satellite uplink transmitter, and a full incoming phone system and a ton of other stuff that the public never saw.
Directly behind the window in that room, is the outside of the mobile home, and as I recall about 20-30 feet outside was a huge K/A band satellite uplink he used.
I could go into infinite detail but won’t. It doesn’t matter now.
First time I ever shot an AK47, was at Art’s House. He had a nice underfolder and that started my love affair with the AK platform rifles.
Good times. Wish Ramona and him were still with us. I never did meet Erin or his baby. I’d moved on and left the company i was with that associated me close with Art, and all the others from Premiere Radio and everything else.
I do know George Noory (snorey) as well as Ian Punnett and a lot of the people associated with that show still till this day. Still do business with others who’ve moved on since then as well.

George Noory will always - often several times per show - ask a question that proves he was not paying attention to what his guest was just saying. He is obviously too busy listening to or reading something else while his guest is talking. Drives me crazy. And with his huge ego, he tries to act just as knowledgeable about intricate subjects as his guests... but it is often quite apparent he is just parroting a previous guest's ideas. Usually about holographic universe theory or Ouija boards. I sure miss Art Bell. On a side note, I would expect that people talk show hosts like Clyde or George would exaggerate experiences and maybe make shit up a little to draw in an audience.

I knew he was a sensationalist hack the more and more I listened to him, but I drew the line when he was saying people that died from ebola are "coming back to life" as zombies. I asked him questions as to why he's passing it off as "fact", he dodged my questions and just called me an asshole, moron, troll, ect. Claimed "I didn't know him", I said "I know what you say, so if this isn't you, are you being intentionally dishonest or are you playing a character?" No answer to that of course, his blind followers tried to make me the asshole, so I just called him for what he is. I think Noory is boring too. He interrupts his guests frequently and is sometimes downright confrontational. There was a time I wouldn't miss a C2C show. Art is a pro, had great guests and compelling topics were offered up every night. I notice that Noory is the only one who signs off and lists off the names of people who have contributed to the show and leaves out Art's name. Crystal Gayle didn't write a beautiful song about listening to George. "Midnight in the Desert" I read yesterday that Art is coming back to radio in July 2015 over the Internet and that's the name of His program, Midnight in the Desert. Yay!! Welcome back Art.... goodbye C2C.

Art listened intently to his guest and asked great questions. George Noory is so lazy, he has his guests prepare the questions for him to ask. And then he doesn't listen to the answers! He just moves on to the next question!
    Example?
George: "Hello Pope Francis. How are you?"
Pope Francis: "I am fine my son. Before we begin, I would like to use your airwaves to issue a very important message to humanity. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, will return to us at 12 noon on Thursday in the parking lot of the Walmart on Main Street in Phoenix, AZ".

I haven't listened to too many coast to coast recordings, but so far I'm not finding George very engaging. He seems to ask questions like a robot, one after another, never really exploring the interesting answers given by who he is interviewing. He rarely challenges people. I sometimes wonder if he even listens to the answers given or if he's just waiting to read the next question. Art on the other hand always seems alert and ready to dive into any answers given, exploring thoughts and ideas, even challenging people if what they say is clearly BS. I think Art is better purely because he's 'one of us' and lives this stuff, where as George seems like some professional taking over a job he doesn't really have an interest in. That being said, I don't hate Noory. I still enjoy listening to him, but it feels like something is missing.

      @tabletalk33 Před 9 lety +5

I have been noticing the same things. Bell was MUCH better, more engaging, more interesting, had a richer and more explicit and intelligent delivery, and was quick to probe deeper into things, into the unknown. I also noticed that Noory doesn't even seem to be listening to or thinking about the responses of his guests. He's just going through the motions.
I assume that his staff have prepared everything ahead of time and he just reads the questions and goes through the motions.
I smell corporate control to rein in the show and tone down the anti-New World Order stuff, and the more way out, socially disturbing stuff which threatens the powers that be. These would be stuff about the Illuminati, Bilderburgs, police state, false flags, criminal bankers, phony wars, breakaway civilization/UFO's, etc., which the rich and powerful want kept under wraps.
But it's not working. People are spending more time on the Internet and finding out about this stuff. We don't need C2C for that anymore. I think C2C has seen its dying day.

So sad that the show has turned into a "touchy-feely, so how does it make you feel?" bunch of 21st century millennial philosophy nonsense. Even when the guests seem as though they'd be interesting, Noory's interviewing style makes things more about himself and his own self-centered ideas. His questions are absolutely inane and when the hour or two is over (if I'm able to make it all the way thru) I'm virtually always left with the feeling of "well, that was an utter waste of time ... I listen to c2c now and then when they have a guest that makes it worthwhile, but I definitely enjoy the George Knapp episodes more, along with Richard Syrett. It's crazy when you actually stop and think about how many levels Art was above GN. The humor, the ability to ask the right questions, not being outright rude to the guest while managing to give the audience a sense of whether or not he believes what they're saying.. it really seems like these are intuitive things that people either have from birth or develop thanks to their unique upbringing. Some people simply don't have it, and while they can learn how to host a radio show and even appeal to certain people, that's nothing compared to what Art had. The evidence is in the comments section of any of Art's episodes on YT. It's all "Art felt like a friend", "Art kept me company" etc. I don't think you can just learn that in some radio course. I only wish I had been into this kind of thing and had discovered the guy earlier. Now, all that's left are conversations from years past.

No one can replace Art Bell. George knapp is a good host on Coast to Coast though I like him a lot. I find that he more motivated and interested in what he's doing. George Noory isn't bad. He say's you can text him when ever you like, I texted him to ask a question to the guest and 10 minutes into the show he asked the question.

I miss the days when Art didn't use call screeners. Never knew who would phone in or what they would say. Coast To Coast just seems corporate now.

RIP Art Bell. He could have an interesting show talking into the Mirror. He was talented, and Interesting at the same time. I remember, as a teenager of him talking strictly the paranormal and he broke it down as if he were there. Also him talking to callers, so and so, from east of the Rockies, or West of the Rockies. Art made you feel his presence, and he had a big time, occasional guest on his program, every now and then, also he was a guest on a few TV shows that featured the paranormal. That and other paranormal tidbits, that made Art Bell awesome, like the Satanic image smiling after the World trade center collapsed on 9/11 on his website at the time, that's vintage Art Bell. Giving you the paranormal, without any political BS. Thats what made Art Bell Special, and flat out, Awesome. George Noory, not so much, and not as Interesting, with a program that falls flat compared to the Great Art Bell. RIP Art Bell!!!!!!

Noory will never be another Art! Noory's show is terrible.....coast to coast made a big mistake hiring him.
Hey Art, you are truly missed and we still love you!

I don't think you people know this is an amateur radio link. You are not going to be able to 'clean' up the audio very much, ham audio is limited to about 3 Khz max and there will be noise on the link. I think it was a repeater, because there was a CW identifier that went off at one point.
It'a amazing how little the public knows about ham activity, even though we are there at your beck and call when there is a flood or fire or earthquake and your precious cell phones are dead.

Poor George Noory is given no mercy; come on Art Bell is an absolute master of late night radio. You can't expect lightning to strike two times in a row. George tries but all that alternitive health and numbers lady stuff is not my thing.

C2C AM with George Noory is the Van Halen III of radio programs - just absolutely unlistenable.

Coast is trash now the only hope I had for the show left with Jon B wells. George Noory taking over Coast was a plan to kill the show off imo. The closest thing u will get to the old coast is Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis much better than what coast is now.

Yep. Most people will be migrating to the Internet for video interviews, documentaries, and all the other stuff that they look for. We don't have to settle for what Noory serves up. That's the good news.

Clyde Lewis is an arrogant turd who calls disagreeing callers "asshats" then hangs up on them. No comparison to Art whatsoever.

At least Art doesn't yell at disagreeing callers and call them "ass clowns". Art's a true professional host. Lewis will NEVER be in the Hall Of Fame with him.
