My buddy installs a couple of these units for less than $3000. It’s quite the deal for the quality that you get.
My dad was always loyal to the Burnham brand, having them in all our rental properties (both steam and hotwater systems). When my parent's house needed a replacement for their Series 2 that cracked (30 years old), I could have went with a direct replacement. I decided after research to go with Alta Combi (200C model). It has so many great features as you note compared to the other units out there. Plus, no outside wire is required. My installer and I decided on separate pumps for 5 zones with a Taco relay box because we had rebates from the utility company in RI. Plus we saved a ton of space in the basement too by hanging it on the wall. The price for the unit was actually reasonable since I got it online shipped to the house. Where it was costly was the install since we had to do all new piping. System is quiet and the DHW heats up nice and quick. Lets see the long term how it holds up.

Nice job ! I installed a Burnham Alpine wall hung boiler for my nephew 12 years ago, its still running good and he has no complaints about the boiler,

Noticed that the fresh air intake is open inside the cabinet. Wasnt that a problem with the "manufacturer that shall not be named " and cross contamination?

What backflow preventer is this that you are using? I wanna check it out. Love that it doesnt need a drip vent
It’s called a double check valve and not a reduced pressure zone that you’re implying
We always have bought the auto fill with backflow from caleffi. Always trying to see if there's a better way. Love the videos, I always try to learn!

Im not Mike but I can tell you from 30 years in they all have their pros and cons.

Mike did you or Daniel read the venting requirements for this piece of equipment? Or do you normally go against the manufacturers venting requirements?

I read and followed the venting requirements. Minimum is above the snow line for us in NY. And they want 12” separation vertically and horizontally.
@@DCHVAC it says you must use 30” of cpvc and 1 90 in between boiler and pvc vent pipe. Charlotte pipe also says not to be used for venting. The burnham guy in my area also showed me his install of the Alta and he also did not put it in. So everyones doing it

isnt that primary secondary manifold spread too far? I thought it was supposed to be 4 times the diameter of the pipe or less? If its 1.25 inch shouldn't it be 5 inches or less to be effective? Its nice the control panel folds down and all the electronics seem to be covered in plastic so nothing gets shorted out while servicing.

There is these electric European ones, there is no difference to temp or water pressure. They normally install them in Hotels. I have installed a few in high end homes they cost a fortune. But you don't need gas, you don't need water pressure vs temp, they are induction like induction hot plates they give you perm water pressure perm temp and when you cut the hot off the electric is off. I bookmarked one but can't find it again.
