March 25th 2024 was the Penumbral eclipse of the moon. Blink and you miss it. Well I did anyway. Jerry tried to tell me to hurry up but I was too busy bathing my crystals in salt water and basking them in the moonlight.
I put the camera in Aperture Priority with spot metering and then used exposure compensation to get the picture. I nailed it. Now if only I can learn to read a timetable... To be fair it wasn't a total eclipse and you had to be on the horizon with nothing in front of you to see it clearly. But it was pretty unimpressive. Still we had fun.
My dad passed away 5 years ago today. So I thought I would add a little clip that makes me cry every time I watch it. He was a rock and the backbone of the family. Miss you Mum and Dad...

Learned some new stuff about crystals today, nice one Roberto, your Dad looked like a really nice guy, you look very much like him, so he lives on through you. Always a difficult time on days like this, but Jerry is a great help.

Yeah I inherited old moon face 😆 the got me all sentimental on his anniversary. After my mum passed Jerry and his other dog Charlie played a big help. Dogs truly are a blessing from the Gods. And smart too 😆 I still don't know how missed it haha

Howdy Bob. Moon photos over the Arizona desert and Grand canyon would be awesome. I love those big rock formations you see in Western movies.

I don't know how you manage it Roberto but whenever I think that I really don't need the 100-400mm, you always seem to include it in a video and show me that I do need it! Good shot of the moon, eclipse or not. At least you saw it, blanket cloud here and couldn't see a thing.
Tough day for you but clearly happy memories.

Moon shots are fun but can become a bit old hat, I thought to add some more energy to the video. Lol.. thought I'd give my old man a good laugh watching down on me. I was thinking of downgrading to the 75-300 for portability actually. I don't use the bazooka much. Still that extra reach is nice

Thanks for sharing memories of your dad. I know they are precious to you. He seemed like such a kind person. Was Jerry his originally?
I didn’t know we had an eclipse but I saw how big and orange the moon was on my drive to work Monday morning. I love that you have crystals. Hopefully they give you some sort of powers now they are newly re-energized lol

In Japanese🤣we say Domingo, Lunes, Martes, Miercoles, Jueves, Viernes, Sabado. I must have 100 photos of the moon, I don’t know why I keep doing it, but I prefer to photograph it when it’s not full, I get more detail/contrast.

I had to translate my Japanese Seiko watch 😆 same here with moon. Groundhog Day every month. In Suda Americano they say the Jaguar ate the moon 🐆

@@robdido LOL, I never heard that before, I was born in Argentina but I’ve been in the States for over 50 years. I just did some research and apparently it was the ancient Inca (Peru) people that interpreted the blood moon as the jaguar attacking and eating the moon, here in south Florida we blame the alligators for eating the moon.
