My mom bought a similar device to cut hair when I was a kid. I didn't work because the blades were dull and just tangled and pulled the hair out from the root. She thought I was over complaining until she saw the bloody scalp and bald spot she had made, then she reconsidered.

Because in the US there's several chemicals and Flavourings used in the products that have been outlawed in many other places due to health concerns. The man that invented the Flo-Bee hair cutting system lived in Kittery, Maine. I let him try it with a Kirby vacuum cleaner and it blew his mind. Too bad it was the ONLY vacuum system to make it work properly. Kirby vacuums are $1500😂

When i was a kid we had this one Kirby vacuum that would only get pulled out for the dirtiest rugs and mattresses.

The Flowbee was (is?) a real product. I remember the commercials from the 1980s (the audio in the video is not from the commercial). It worked on the principle that if it sucked hair and cut it straight, if you applied it against your head at various angles it would eventually cut each hair to the same exact length. The hairs which are left a little long due to a single straight cut, get cut to the proper length in later passes.
I remember it from the comedy skit they did about it in Wayne's World
problem was it couldn't cut wet tissue paper to save it's life, and also if all the hairs are the same length you just look like a fucking dork, even worse than if your mom covered your head with a pot and cut along the edges.
Those commercials were ridiculous. It was mocked even back then.
