Vivian Leigh is one of the most beautiful actresses of all time. Her lovely face doesn't need make up to show her beauty. It's just genuine classic beauty.
The way they spoke is the way they acted, it's so beautiful, love it. Love her.
She wanted so badly to be known for her acting ability more than her beauty.
I think she proved it well enough with 2 Best Actress oscars. There is only one Vivien Leigh and she was breathtaking in her performance and beauty.
The way she accepts her award, with such grace, without any sign of selfinesh..her dress, so simple..HOW different of some others who makes a show of themselves accepting the same award!!, GREAT VIVIEN!!
You don't ever see speeches that classy anymore, not in acceptance speeches, and definately not in day-to-day conversations.

gone with the wind has been a favorite since i was five years old. even then i knew i wanted to grow up as beautiful and charming as vivien. Too bad neither of those things are found in very many places.
What an actress and what a role! The film's length was just short of 4 hours, and she appeared in most of the scenes, which were shot out of sequence. This is arguably the greatest Best Actress Oscar win ever (Meryl Streep in SOPHIE'S CHOICE must come a close second) for a role which is the pinnacle of screen roles, the "ne plus ultra" performance.

Leigh's ensemble is my favorite Oscar dress, ever. It's so classy, elegant, modern and simplistic--she glows no matter what she wears. Plus, it's really rare to see floral prints at the Oscars today, not to mention a big fur coat.
I think the two most beautiful women to grace the silver screen were Vivien Leigh and Audrey Hepburn. Both were enchanting actresses.

He hadnothing but kind words about her years after hear death. He said she gave him his most loving and his most terrible memories. He was happy in his old age, but he never forgot about her. He was very happy with his life as every old man should.

i agree totally its shame that her manic depression got so bad she really was a type actress that doesnt come around to often: Talented, she just had everything i suppose her being beautiful just makes her even more lovely to watch.

For everyone saying it looks like she's 'acting' here--it's because she is (kinda); back then, the Oscars were broadcast "live" on radio only, so there was no need to have multiple cameras and close-ups. The only camera during the live ceremony was the one providing the static shot of the podium. After Leigh won her award, she went backstage and did her speech over again, in closeup, for newsreel footage to be shown in theaters. Notice how the sound quality improves during her closeup shot.
She speaks so well and is truly a remarkable credit to her race.

You have to hand it to Olivier for being so paitient with her. He knew about her illness before they were married. The fans like to blow things out of proportion. He did make sure she was being taken care of while he moved on. He soon fell ill afterwards.

How sad that another of the evening's winners, Hattie McDaniel, was not allowed to sit at the same table with the other "GWTW" nominees because of her race. Also, Hattie was not permitted to enter the ceremonies from the front of the building. Yet, George Clooney applauded Hattie's Oscar win as an example of Hollywood's liberalism?

Compare this to Natalie Portman's speech at the Golden Globes. I like Natalie, she is such a good actress and maybe she thought a joke was OK. But, again, compare this to it.
