This game has been review highly and took over EVO this past year with its awesome visual style and fast paced fighting. I like the way it plays on the Switch, but it has a certain issue in handheld mode.

I'd honestly love to see many more games with a similar artstyle. I'm not into DB but whoever made the engine and those awesome animations deserves praise.
If arc systems made a Jojo tag team fighting game with this style of graphics I would buy that in a heartbeat.
Look up the Guilty Gear games, same company, same engine, etc...

I still don't know why people thought it couldn't run on the Switch. Did those guys see the PC requirements for this game? It's not very demanding. Which I think is a good thing tbh, especially for how pretty the graphics are.
Because those people didn't know what they were talking about. They just hear that the switch isn't as powerful as the other systems and they go assuming that It can't run certain games. Then you have the pile of idiots that follow the other Pile of idiots with 0 research put into the subject.
Those people must not have ever seen what this development team has been pulling of on systems since the Xbox/PS2 era.

I wouldn't say the switch can run something like Assassin creed odyssey cause of switches weak CPU and memory which is why stuff like NBA 2k19 is 30fps cause of the switches CPU, the GPU is good but CPU is a bottleneck. You have to admit the switch can't handle every ps4 game cause memory bandwidth and CPU and to make it work in portable mode that only has 400 gflops. But still it can run most ps4 games for sure

Even when Bandai Namco stated the game can run on Switch no problem, person's were still saying FighterZ can't run even though Dragonball Xenoverse 2 ran fine on Switch.

Still amazed to see this running on the Switch.
Even when this game drops pixels, its still beautiful.
From my experience playing it, it seems pretty stable in docked mode, and handheld mode has resolution drops when performing supers(Goku Blacks lvl 3) is probably the worst. Otherwise it runs great on the switch with minor hiccups. I don’t know if it’s just me but the game also feels more responsive in handheld mode than any other version of the game I’ve played.
Xbox is also responsive at a good rate but half the time xbox gets delayed prob 10 frames and than does the move
There’s simple control mode that works great with the Joy cons. You still have push two or three buttons together to due stuff. But you don’t need to roll the d pad or stick to do any of the moves
With the cutscenes, they try to replicate the animation of the show. That's why the framerate is lower there.
This game is awesome on the Switch, the artwork/graphics are perfect and game play is very smooth. 10/10 easily. I havent tried it in handheld mode yet but I dont normally play handheld so no biggie for me.

For some reason I was thinking this was another Xenoverse-style game...but a Street Fighter style 2D fighter? Awesome. If this runs at solid 60fps, I will probably pick this up on Switch instead of PC.
I still like how people complain about all fighting games on switch and Xbox but not on ps4 or pc. Shows where fighting gamers can enjoy the most out of their options.
A lot of people are getting the Hori D Pad joy con just to play this game.

Matthew Anthoni pro controller is nice and all but it is only good for when your like sitting at home playing the console. It would be nice for Nintendo to release a pair of joycons specifically for the fighting community.

When I play Street Fighter on the go, I always bring my pro controller, I never use handheld mode for fighting games, so this is no sweat. I'm glad this game runs so well!

But it keeps framerate at near 60fps during combat only dropping a bit when lots of things going on screen. Framedrops are noticeable during dramatic/destructive finishes and close ups with win poses.
Play in docked mode for a more stable fps, on handheld resolution takes a hit to keep fps high so its easy to see blurring and jaggies. Still a portable DBFZ is quite something.
Fun game right here! I’m not even a fan of the series or know a lot about it but I enjoyed it.
Play dbz kakarot. It tells you the entire story of dragon ball z. It also includes battle of gods and resurrection f dlc which isn't worth it but when the switch version of dbz kakarot comes out, you get both of those dlc for free. Saldy there's no dragon ball or dragon ball super or dragon ball gt story but it's still fun to play.
Fighting games with depth but a lower barrier to entry are called accessible fighting games. Fighting games can be simple (e.g. Fantasy Strike) or complex (e.g. Guilty Gear), accessible (Pocket Rumble) or dexterity testing (Street Fighter 4), or some combination of.
It sounds like you mean to say DBFZ is deep but more accessible.

My preorder of this just arrived today, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Desperately want a First Party Joy Con with a D-Pad. The standard buttons are really ruining my handheld experience on the Switch in general, and personally 1-on-1 Fighters are my favourite games. Have been waiting for Nintendo to release a D-Pad Joy Con, but I may have no choice but to go for the Hori pad, so I can play DBZ Fighterz properly... :-(
Most PS4/Xbox games can run on switch well. Games mostly use lower textures, lower/dynamic resolution, and are 30fps instead of 60fps. More options are great for gamers all around. I am worried for the switch with PS5/XBSX out now. Unfortunately it’s unrealistic to expect most games to continue to be ported to the switch when games are going to barley run on PS4/Xbox. Nintendo needs to make a new switch if they want third-party games to continue to support their consoles

Actually the analog sticks in the joycons are the best I ever used and I have controllers from all systems. Joycon analog sticks feels like mini joysticks, which other analogs sticks dont feel like.
Really nice let's play Jon(SW). Definitely need a decent D-Pad when playing fighting games but DBFZ looks too me like it runs n plays just fine.
It looks choppy because Arc System Works purposely lowered the frame rate (technically, they're actually skipping / holding frames) on the animations to simulate traditional 2D animations. It's the same ingame, except... the movement of the objects themselves around the screen are at 60fps.

It seems not a lot of people got that, but i picked up on that _instantly_ when ArcSys release Guilty Gear Xrd. That artistic choice was GENIUS, and I hope more studios adopt it, not just for video games, either.

The joycons sticks worked better than d-pads for me. I even play NES games with the sticks. I don't care about a d-pad at all. I even think it's extremely silly to make it such a big deal.
Stick isn't as accurate... You really notice in games like Celeste, Super Meat Boy, and Street Fighter

I'm just excited to have this game with me on the go. Looks pretty great here on the Switch.
More graphically demanding fighting games like Fighting EX Layer which also uses Unreal Engine 4 took a hit graphic wise when it got ported to the Switch.
Even Shaolin vs Wutang, originally on the PC, which doesnt use UE4 but uses Unity engine, took a graphics hit when ported to the Switch. But yeah both those games are require higher performance specs which is why.
I have it on PC and my gosh it looks great in 1440p max settings 60 fps.
If I were to get a console version it would be this for the portability.
People said the game couldn't run on the switch because it couldn't hold 60fps which is needed for fighting games to be competitively viable. Now it's out and it doesn't run at a perfect 60. So looks like we're still right

The limited edition physical has an instruction manual for basic movement on the back of the cover.
They should give the dlc free. The price is wrong. Nothing justify full price for a late game. It should be the same value than the others versions

Idk. I have it on my XBOX One X and it looks stunning on my 4k TV. The only plus I see is going handheld but I have Xenoverse 2 on the Switch and that game is incredible. Tough choices.

Matiaso the video recording feature is only active on games that have cpu overhead. Meaning there’s always a part of the switch that’s not being used and is ready to capture. Epic removed the feature in fornite to fully utilize the switch’s cpu, and now fortnite looks and runs better than it ever has on the switch

The switch is powerful don't get me wrong but the thing that's holding it back was CPU but's that for reasons we all know cause the GPU is very powerful for a mobile device with it being one teraflop of power docked and 400+ portable and a lot of games are being cut back cause of the cpu but with the weak CPU that's holding it back from like doom or fortnite achieving 60fps but if we had a CPU that can but somewhere or even better than the ps4 and Xbox one CPU than games would look so much like Xbox one level at 900p or 720p for a pretty demanding game docked. When they make a hardware upgrade in a few years than I think the CPU and GPU need to be leveled out to fully use one of each other.

@@rage2387 Not just CPU. I heard memory bandwidth is also a bottleneck for the GPU so it probably wouldn't look Xbox One level even with more powerful CPU.

Actually, I bought the Japanese/Chinese version, and there is content on both sides (inside and outside) of the boxart while the US version is just plain white on the inside.
I think these "how will it run?" Videos are super irrelevant for fighting games. Fighting games HAVE to run at a rock solid 60FPS. If they can't reach that, it wouldn't have been released
_So_ many people complain about the d-buttons on the joy-con, but I use the joycon grip on several games on my switch _including_ this one, because _I want the precision._ Most d-pads available for the Switch are _ass!_ Either they aren't responsive, or they are worse placed than the 360 controller.

I am a huge fan of Dragon Ball. I am also a huge fan of fighting games. I loved the third Budokai (the first two didn’t do it for me), Tenkaichi series, both Raging Blast games and both Xenoverse games. I had FighterZ on the PS4 and was utterly bored by it. I personally find the gameplay to be way too simple. Honestly, I would have liked a control scheme similar with Street Fighter with three punches and three kicks, or something along the line of Tekken with the buttons each controlling a limb. But that’s just me. I like more variety. Every fight I was in with FighterZ looked exactly the same every time. I wouldn’t say the game is awful, the visuals and animations are astounding, but I personally feel the gameplay itself is extremely shallow.
SteveGames you should see some high level gameplay, I recommend go1 vs leffen. There’s a lot of depth in the game when you know how to utilize it
Shallow and Competitive FighterZ don't really go together. I just don't think you experiment enough with the combos; there's a reason why there's memes about people sleeping when they're getting combo'd
Justin Wong talked about how easy the game was too and then got completely bodied. You can't just dip your tow in the water and say it isn't deep.

Play against some vets you won't think it's too simple after receiving a beating from them.
Watch any high level gameplay of DBFZ and you'll see this game is leagues and bounds much more complex than any other DBZ fighting game
I don't know if it happens for others, but I got a lot of software error, bringing me back to the home menu and closing the game. It is super frustrating. It happens a lot in training mode.

It's choppy because it's supposed to be anime style. 24fps....that's the traditional fos for anime. That's why cutscenes seem choppy

Real players use the NES zapper and a blue-tooth game and watch controller.
No mention of the fact that you must spend over $100 to complete the roster.
I love my dragon ball fighter z physical copy on my Nintendo Switch permanently. I play that more then Pokken Tournament Dx and Super Smash Bros Ultimate
For handheld mode you just need a usb c to regular usb adapter to connect a wired controller...
Blazblue cross tag battle is the exact same as fighterz. Well, storymode is different but the system where you walk around, is the exact same in blazblue cross tag battle.
Unlike fighterz, blazblue cross tag battle supports up to 2 fighters. Not too much the same but other than that, Both bbtag and dbfighterZ are 1 in the same. I REALLY wish arc system works would develop a new game called blazblue vs dragon ball z.

I played the beta only in handheld because that's the hole point and I did not have a problem at all doing combos. Once I learned where my buttons like what vanish, Sparking ext.. I was doing my cell Vegeta corner combo on people in arena like nothing the game felt natural for some reason.
My point is that not everyone is gonna have a issue with the controls
on the next switch they need to make the analogs like touch pad with vibrations almost like a iMac touch pad mouse because that analog be pissing me off when I want to press the button B or they can just do the right analog that way and just keep the left analog =)
