Just to give a little more detail regarding the Telford IPMS show. I wasn't planning attending last year but, a couple of days before, I thought why not? Checking online, I find that the entry price had gone from the previous year from £16 to £25. There was also a booking fee which I can't just remember whether that was included in the over 50% raised price but, there are only so many variations of a Sabre fighter jet I can put up with and hence the two main reasons I didn't go, price and aircraft (however splendidly they were built). Also, the website gave the impression that there was no 'on the door' payments. I couldn't hazard a guess at how many non-members had the same thoughts I had, but there could have been quite a few. How much money the traders lost based on my usual £100+ spend across the non-attendees we will also never know. While a gallant gesture of members entering for free, placing the hire cost shortfall on others won't, at those prices, increase interest in our hobby.
Very generous comments to other sculptors and painters, positive critiques, that is what I enjoy about Mike and Bill's presentations.
