My Minimalist Storage Unit

- I'm using a storage unit to temporarily emulate extreme minimalism in my apartment.
Here's the 2016 Reuters article on Japanese minimalism: reut.rs/2EEp7BJ

When the “smile, your on camera” sign was smiling at your camera.
XD
Thats "Ironic" LOL
I freaking love how you make your videos 😂. The perspectices/position,angles,humor,intro its all amazing. Dude you're really cool.
Thanks, Lena! 😊
Your realism is engaging. You will do very well!
this is a great idea to actually declutter and figure out how you want to live.
I like to believe I'm an extreme minimalist.
But my storage unit is actually my parent's house XD
My drum set and old random childhood things are there.
i can relate
You are so seriously relatable!!! I did this whole “I’m going to be a minimalist” and put everything into my basement and some things got to come back to the main living space. Others, still live in the basement. I’m a remarkable procrastinator... ;) thanks for being awesome!
I just helped my parents move and after packing a whole bunch up for storage while in the process of showing their house and throwing even more stuff away, we were able to live perfectly fine with, like, 70-80% less stuff.
About 10% of it were books and easily 30-40% was straight up garbage just sitting around.
They had a chunk of old, broken ceiling just hanging out in the attic 🤔
This is amazing!! I love this approach and the honesty. This seems to be a much more sane way to deal with minimalism.
I moved everything out of my bedroom (into living rm & dining rm) to paint and put in new wood floor. I love the space. I really don't want to put anything back except a bed ,nightstand, and lamp. Perhaps a basic wardrobe in the closet. That still leaves crap all over the house. I should just shovel it all to dump.
You should try it with just the few pieces! That sounds lovely. One room at a time.
I love this channel I just found it yesterday and I’m ready for more content ❤️❤️❤️
How interesting!! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Love how you make the videos!
Me too, thanks for this video, so I don't feel alone. I'm moving everything this weekend. I like the one week idea. Yay!
Can't stop watching your videos, such a good content!
What an interesting experiment. Can't wait to see how you go.
This is kinda like what Ryan and Joshua call the packing party (the minimalists)
Totally! Same concept for sure.
What's the opposite of irony? ( WRINKLY) HA!
Just discovered your channel today and I love it! I’ve been slowly getting rid of stuff during a few recent moves, and I’m ready to tackle even more. My pile ‘o crap is in my current apartment’s creepy, spidery basement and now that it’s warming up outside, it’s time to start sorting. 😀
I have been getting rid of things I haven't used or wanted to keep .... But I don't think minimalism is for me. I definetly like my house not cluttered... but I paint, and I draw, and I make a mess , and I own a ton of books that I do not want to get rid of....
Still, I love your videos and this is fun to watch.
Inspiring, as always :)
Aww, shucks! Thank you. 😁
1 week? well i personaly hope you'll continue making video's about minimalism :) i realy like your style of video's about this subject.
I try to be more minimal too myself, but living with a husband and a 2,5 year old son makes it sometimes a challenge to find a balance wich workes for all of us :P
This is so important. I think people have this idea that all minimalism is the same (super extreme, gotta haul everything away NOW), but it’s gunna look different for everybody and it’s okay to ease into it, or test out your limits and add stuff back in if you really miss it. 💛
Already was very into you and your channel but... The inclusion of Alanis Morisette and her music... Good golly!! Love it
Camille Thionville agreed
💗🤘🏻 "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." ~Wayne Gretzky
hahahaha the Alanis Morissette reference. lol
I like the Doug reference "chicka " in the beginning.
I was thinking to do the same thing, I already got rid of a lot of stuff. And i love the feel of minimalism in my place right now. but there is so much stuff I cant get rid of, also for my work (im a photographer so i have loads of photo gear) By taking a storage unit I still get the rest in my head of a minimal home, but also the rest in my head of not having to throwing out all my stuff (just yet) I onder how this goes for you.
When you do the "til next time" thing at the end, with the sound and the gesture, for some reason I keep expecting you to say, "til next time, toots," etc. LOL
Have you seen the movie/documentary "My Stuff"? Same concept, but he does it for a year and only retrieves one new item a day. I've thought about trying this too, it's like a trial run before I get rid of everything I own.
I've never heard of that one! I'll have to look it up... Thanks for the rec! 😁
Sneaky Pete would looove your storage unit 😎
I have thought about doing this.
You're hilarious. I say it every time. You are like my CZcams sarcastic edgy BFF. Great idea 😀
I hate stuff. but the few stuff that I do keep. I really really love. that's my definition of minimalism.
Love you 😍
I'd have to get rid of that store locker . I'd feel like it's the wardrobe I shoved everything in so the rest of flat looks simple and tidy but my mind was wrecked from knowing I had to go through all that shit in the wardrobe . I never settled . I started to get rid of it all and I can't stand any clutter . I feel much better and life is less stress with "stuff" in it . Great channel by the way
there must be bare essentials for the mind also, so i believe , those that "spark joy"
I remember what is inside of that storage unit.
you are so lovable!
Not sure how I missed this video. Great! But hope you did not give away the crochet blanket, I bet your Nana made it for you, or someone else who loves ya! That’s what I tell my kids, about my knitting, love in every stitch :)
If you haven't, you should definitely read Goodbye, Things, by Fumio Sasaki, one of my top three favorite books about minimalism.
Yes! Definitely on my top few, too. Fumio's frankness and clarity is inspiring.
Hahaha soo true, I always think of her song too... and them I'm like... wait.. huh? Haha
Try an audio recorder with a low cut filter. It can cut out all that background noise. I use the Zoom h1n. It's only about $100.
Freaking Alanis Morresette!
Oh myyyy....I love it!
I can't count how many times I just couldn't get up the "gumption" to try this!
I'm so excited to see what happens!
But....I know minimalism is "different" for all of us!
I can't wait to see... who knows I may finally try it!
💖💖🤩🤩
Your excitement is encouraging - I wasn't sure how people would react. Thanks, Linda! 😊
❤️
What did you bring back?
Have you ever heard of Swedish Death Cleaning? Ever done it? What are your thoughts?
🤔
Nope, never heard of it! Death cleaning sounds like it would involve dark clothing and heavy music, though, so I'm down.
I bet you get rid of a ton of your stuff when you realize that you didn’t miss it, but surely not the blanket that your Gran (?) crocheted for you!!
I've just discovered you. What happened in the end? did you get rid of the storage stuff?
Please turn on subtitles
I think my parents house is my storage unit. Although I don't consider myself minimalist right now
Hello Lefie!, what' the font you using for the captions on the video??
Pretty sure it's Helvetica!
Hi. Lefe. Gonna. Try. It. Just. Took. All my superheroes collection. Stuck it. In. My. Storage space. And. See. How. It. Works. You. Inspired. Me. Thanks
Irony - Well, I can't, um, really define irony. But I know it when I see it.
I'm dating myself by that movie reference. But, then again, I do like my own company.
My fave movie!!!
YES! I love that movie!
Omg love the channel! Did you get rights to the ironic song? Worried since youtube will flag almost anything now adays.
Nope, didn't get rights... The video's not monetized though, and I didn't play the whole song, so I'm hoping they don't care... I guess we'll see!
I have to ask this before you blow up and don't see comments anymore, but how tall are you?
Also, I've watched all your videos, they're strangely calming, I love!
I'm 6'1" (185.4cm)! And thanks, Rhianna! 😁
@@Lefie I was going to be 6 foot until I stop growing ;-) (I was twelve when I grew my last cm - I was eleven when I had basically stopped) Did you have growing pains? I had to have sports physio, wear heels and have my legs wrapped in three woolen layers to stop the cold making my tendons and muscles even shorter than my bones than they already were. I could barely walk for 18 months to 2 years. I hope you grew more smoothly and less painfully. Your height looks good!
Lefie, you would look awesome with short hair.
ISNT THAT IRONIC I R O N I C - Bo Burnham
$50 a month? Crap. I rented a 10x10 for $375 a month in Vancouver
I swear I love you after a day. Will you be my backup?
Are you allowed to live in a storage unit?
Fifty dollars a month is cheap place to live.
You soo fanny 😂😂
sudo extreme minimalism
Minimalist training wheels. Yeah. Okay.
