MY NEW BOOK - www.spitfireaudio.com/the-pro... Here I'm looking at using modes to make your music more emotionally interesting and diverse. Hope you find this useful!
I've never really studied music theory, and I don't understand most of what you're thoroughly explaining in this video, but you are clearly expanding my creative mind simply by showing through practical examples, so thank you! 🙂
Amusing way my bass guitar tutor taught me to remember the order of the modes. - Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian - I Don't Particularly Like My Arse Licked. You're welcome. :P
REALY like the opaque double view versus the usual split screen. Very cool to see what your doing while seeing what’s going on in your DAW. Great video and I look forward to the reading the book!
Welcome back, good sir! You returned with a corker of a video, excellent choice of topic, cheers for selecting this particular one. It is this sort of flavouring that I truly love, and seeing how you use those flavours (despite confusing you!) is certainly educational
Very good explanation on how to use modes that goes beyond simply telling what they are. Thank you for that. As a side note, your big Appassionata frame behind you... ...would you happen to know where I could get a very hi res picture of it? I'd love to have it printed and framed in my studio. It's by far the best logo design I've seen for a sample library.
Thank you, Paul. I'm trying to learn more about modes and this was really helpful! Also nice to see Appassionata Strings in the background, the design is really gorgeous. I actually just bought the library and I'm looking forward to play with it in a few hours when the download is ready :D
Thank you for this video, Paul. It helped me see modes in a more practical light. I also appreciate the length of this video as anywhere from 12 to 20 minutes in length feels best overall.
Fantastic video! I really hope You will do more of this kind of videos in near future. I love Your tutorial especially like this with orchestration techniqes and, harmony . Im looking forward what come next Paul ;)
I love the way you talk about the feel and usefulness of each mode! I need more purpose in my writing and videos like this are perfect tools to help with that! Thank you Paul!! Speaking of tools, I'm a bit of a spreadsheet fiend and I've built one that allows you to choose your root note and scale, and presents it to you in a piano key visual. It also allows you to randomize in case you're feeling adventurous when trying to start a piece. Also, it has room for expansion by adding any other scale you want! I'm providing a link to it, but in order to use it you'll need to make a copy of the file for yourself. Hope someone finds this helpful! Link in reply. EDIT: Apparently youtube won't let me comment the link! This is very unfortunate. If anyone is interested in the file I have added a link to it in my channel's About section.
PHENOMINAL!!!
Thank you :)
I love and need these videos, Paul. You're filling the gaps in my understanding and leaving me with a clear roadmap of what to study next.

This flute is wonderful. Where can I find it in Spitfire?
Extremely useful and very insightful. I am still struggling with modes but I feel I'm getting there (slowly). Thanks, Paul!

谢谢老师,我一直听不出来游戏里面那种神秘的古老的,失落的古文明般的音色是什么,原来是低音长笛挂一堆效果器,特别喜欢您的教学🙏
what synthesizer was used to make the High Octane music from littlebigplanet?
modes = MOODS
thanks but for me the cinematic baseline was not best choice for this lesson ..
