I do not personally desire to be a Navy Seal, but I enjoy these videos because they bring to light certain lessons that can be applied elsewhere in life. Thanks, Jake!
WE BUILD CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!
💯
@@jakezweigThat's not what David Goggins says. Seems like a bunch of backbiting ponanis are made there.
Sir, you’re the most no BS officer I’ve heard, which is a compliment! SEALS we’re lucky to have you.
Yah the cake eaters hated that shit
We had to do a 25m swim underwater in commercial dive school. Jump in, front flip, 25m underwater. I almost past out. Very close. The ex Ranger, SF, and Navy rescue swimmer showed off and did a 50m with ease. This was 2003. This water stuff at BUDS is awesome and the men that do it are badass.
I won’t go to buds because I’d die before I ring that bell… and I like living
You can not worry about living you have to worry about the tash at home
OK Jake I needed a new goal you just gave it to me my friend the 50 yd swim on one breath.... Right now working out 3 hours A-day non stop because rest is for the weak.. 5 days a week I have to get my a** in shape to go from New Orleans to South Dakota in August on my motorcycle... I still have the spirit of a Warrior at 59.. And your videos are great thank you
Doo not practice in a pool
I got pumped up when you said WOOOHOOOOO! I don't know why!
Swim phase is where a buddy of mine DOR. He said he couldn’t get out of his mind passing out. Great video break down!
REAL FACTS YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO CONTROL FEAR!!!!
Jake my man !! Back at it again keep droppin bangers 🔥🔥
Dude, love the commentaries, from the man who did the same before 234! Love these videos and the background for real. FIRE!
Thank you Melissa
I did all of my swim tests in the military underwater, lol.
Love this and love your mentality! Get after it and prepare for tomorrow being the Superbowl.
I was dumb in hs, and in wrestling I once did 3 days without eating while working out for multiple hours a day. That was the hardest thing I ever did until I started working a real serious job and it was 15 hours a day of mental work with brutal stress and deadlines for months on end.
I love that shit, though. Get after it, do the things no one else can do, and work harder than them. Absolutely the best - these videos are inspiring.
FIRE EVERYTHING PREPARES YOU FOR TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would love to see you do a video about Instructor Patstone! Dudes mustache is legendary
Been waiting for this one ;) thanks Jake!!!!
More to follow
I have done a lot of surfing. I learned how to relax when being held down by a wave. Sometimes a second wave will break and hold you down longer. You have to know that it will pass and not panic. Panic uses a lot of oxygen very quickly.
Panic does not help when your pinned to the bottom of the ocean in a lifejacket
Good stuff here Jake!
I signed up back in 87 never even heard of the Seals till I went to meet the army recruiter I was wanting to go airborne, and be a combat medic, the army recruiter wasn’t there to meet me and Navy guy asked me to come and sit in his office and wait! He started talking to me asking me what I wanted to do and he said the NAVY has that! I kinda laughed at him and said yeah right! He grabbed a VHS and played this video showing these guys fast roping in the jungle and all other kinda stuff! Man I was hooked! Signed up for corpman school with the agreement if I didn’t make it thru buds I would get to go with the marines as a corpman!
Well I got in a little legal trouble before I was to ship out to boot camp and they took all my wish list away! No buds no corpman school!
So I was told I could go be a deck hand and if I was a good sailor I could strike out and get all that back!
When I got to my ship BB64 Wisconsin
I saw all the guys trying to strike out we’re all given shit details!
So I decided just do my job make rate as fast as I could and get the hell out of the Navy
I’m sure I didn’t have the stuff to make it thru BUdS any how I don’t do well in cold water!!! LOL
Thanks for all the good story’s

YOU THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No you da man!!!
Thanks for your service as well!
From the 505 area!
Love these. Keep em comin
Impressive. I can’t even do a front flip I’d be struggling with this.
Wouldn’t over/ unders increase your ability ( and reduce anxiety) to pass this evolution? We did these in dive school ( EOD) as part of a PT regimen . It increased my lung capacity. For those that don’t know- you swim on top of the water across the pool ( width) than swim underneath, in a circuit type fashion continuously.
Fuck that you will die practicing them ......we do all breath work on dry land
Had a rescue swimmer pass out underwater when I was working the RHIB on deployment. We got him out the water and after he spit out a shit load of water, he was ok. Your absolutely spot on with adding stress to the situation. The rescue swimmer had to swim under a lot of topside oil, so he ended up swimming too low and didn’t have enough air in his lungs. Great video!!
Real world shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the late 80s for aviation water survival we had to drop off a 12 ft platform in a flight suit and boots then swim 25m under water. 5 minute tread in flight suit, boots, uninflated LPU then transition to drown proof 5 minutes. Mile swim in a flight suit (no boots) in a warm pool. Jet and helo dunker. None of it was easy for me. The stuff that SEALs can do is amazing. A whole other level.
we did that shit and it sucked also.... night dunker .... no joy
@@jakezweig Blackout goggles? I got 4 extra rides cuz i couldn't get out of the designated dunker exit with blackout goggles on. In my third unsuccessful attempt I was running out of air so i popped the goggles off and there was the rescue diver ready to pull me out. Last ride a guy kicked me in the face with his boot and i grabbed on to it and got out that way. I got the pity 👍. 🤣
@@esteban1487 1000000% follow boots
Water really brings the fear out and then add a bunch of stress and pressure on that? That's rough right there. In triathlons or open water swimming racing, even expert pool swimmers can get into trouble. Stress of the race, the cold water, lack of visibility, getting grabbed and kicked, etc. You miss a couple of breaths or forget to exhale and things go bad really quick. Great video.
Love the feed back Jeff
Hey Jake, you remember this? Swoop......there it is instructor, yep the humor is real. lol
If I’m not mistaken the woman narrator actually drown in her own house in a flood. The Irony is painful.
Thanks Jake :)
Would love to see a video with you and goggins. Idk if you know him but that would be electric.
100%
That's a big name man
@@jakezweig That would have been the best conversation I could ever imagine listening to
I hope they never lower the standards for Seal qualifications.
I love the video about the 50 M swim in BUD/S training for Navy Seals, nice looking shirt Black Panther Party, when you are going to check out the old Navy Seal Documentaries like someone special and Navy SEALs, the silent option series 🔱 🎖⚓
Hummmmmm more to do
Great video, appreciate it
This would be probably the ONLY part of BUDS I could pass.
I actually have a tip: One way to shave a good 5 seconds for 50m UW is to minimize looking forward in direction of travel (at the wall). Lifting the head during any forward movement in water is a natural human reflex but adds drag. Instead, look down at the bottom of the pool with head positioned neutral.
Shit was easy
Due to this being a stress water test, I thought it would be a phase two deal. Cool to see this as a phase 1 event
Water is in every phase always present
Hello O.I.C. I liked that content creation ...thank you
I quit… after the Marine corps while in college I accepted the challenge and off loaded trucks at Walmart. Never was treated like shit more, no breaks, sweating ass off, talked down to by 24 year old virgin managers… I quit and never looked back. I rang the Walmart bell and put my fork lift keys down
I love it man!!!!!!!!!!! That's called leaving not quitting
lets get it !!!!!
Just learn the Wim Hof method and 50m isn’t a big deal
If you want to be a seal get into swim/waterpolo. As freshman we did the 50m underwater swim
get into waterpolo /wrestling
In the video it says you have to do a flip when you jump in. I can’t see any of the trainees doing a flip. Is that true. That seems like it would make it a lot harder because doing a flip takes time and energy.
Doing a flip while in the water.
When they jump I the water it is the first thing done
Interesting that the OIC had to ring the bell daily? Or at all, love the insight Jake!!
Just at graduation
Nerve wracking but it's not hard. Lots of dudes passing out but way more coming up gasping after about 10 meters. One of the funniest stories from BUDs was a dude blacked out and we could all hear the instructors smacking the shit out of him like...hard. 🤣 then he said "thank instructor S for saving your life." I was trying to stifle my laughter after seeing the giant red hand print on the side of dudes face.
👍🏾
NEVER PRACTICE UNDERWATER WITHOUT MULTIPLE EYES ON YOU.
NEVER NEVER NEVER sofrep.com/news/two-seals-drown-training-pool/
www.shallowwaterblackoutprevention.org/news/drowning-deaths-of-two-navy-seals-were-due-to-shallow-water-blackout
People died ain't no thang Mmm kaaayyyy.
Weak genes
Hahahaha
Funniest part is the instructor’s impression of the guy that touched the wall and passed out lmfao
Yes sir
Lou Picchione didn't go to the light he made it class 243
Everyday fight
What if you quit but refuse to ring that bell. What would they do to you?
good question
He put the pass on pass out
Brother J , when you were crushing SQC, how did the roll backs that were added to
the course treated ? Did they get “Special Treatment ?” Lol
Nope you rolled into our class you preformed. No bitching or whinging
Jake….can you comment on how the 50m underwater swim translated to something you did while in the teams later? Just curious. Thanks.
@@mikes9012 Man you talk a lot of shit on the Internet huh. I know you aren't proud of yourself. You've got a lot to say about other men making a difference in the world. Just another new generation imitation man. He would eat you alive, but before he could do that you would squirm out of a room like most chumps do when a real man walks in. Don't take it too hard, there are levels to this.
The best place I can say is the pool during underwater ruby... everything else will get you killed
Hey Jake did you ever have any experience workin with SARCs? Not a lot of info out there on them.
No I did not!!!
Once you go black, turn back and don’t go to the light 💡
luv da shirt
hard getting through to pool shit and fail . must be hard to take
The failing at BUDS is always hard to take it changes people.
Can you jump as far into the pool as you want when you do that initial jump?
Fuck no
This was a hard evolution. For me it was much easier than pool comp. We had one guy shit himself in the pool.
Oh yah Shitty
This guy makes it sound like you’ll die if you put your face in the water. Of course supervision is important, but come on: people gotta try things.
what?
Isn't the hack to go deep to compress the air in the lungs along with the push off the wall to get the glide and conserve oxygen? There must be a technique.
Don’t stop swimming until you hit the wall. That’s it.
Hey man, look I hope u didn't get upset about my last post but I was just trying to make u laugh hope ur good bro
No man what did you say
Shit happens mmmmmkay
You should try and do a interview with don shiply so we can hear some more stories from him
Solid
Nice video
ok ltc j.legg I see you. lol
It ain’t a bad day for you 💯
My man!!!!!
You rang the bell? When?
Jake stated that he rang the bell, under orders of staff, as Class OIC, in order to secure his class from training at graduation.
@@ralphgardner7247 I was like fuck that bell
What are your thoughts on going seals enlisted? Don’t have a college degree
Send it !!!!!! No degree enlist prepare and kill it
piece of cake
WOOHOO!💪
Can I ask what the purpose is for the 50 m underwear swim is other than to test the body’s physical wellbeing??? As a mother, who would would wand to her child want to be a seal and have learned that there are guys dying in the pool in the classes is heart breaking…!just wondering what the test actually is testing…
Your ability to do more than you thought. Training in BUDS is nothing like the TEAMs someone dies in training every month in the teams....not in combat
Do you come up when you make the first 25? Or do you stay under & just turn around, push off & finish?
No 50 1 breath
@@jakezweig oh man…Im gonna get your masterclass soon to prepare.
@@drkwrlck send it
Can you just dolphin kick for the 50m?
Yup if you can do it....clay T did it feet first
From someone who has done this, how hard is this to actually do sir?
If you practice for a year easy
Any chance you can interview Robert O’Neill?
That dude is in the stratosphere
@@jakezweig He wrote two books 📚. Do you recommend either one for dealing with every day life??? Thank you!
@@yaaqoubeliyyahu5783 I have not read either one ... read relentless by tim grover
@@jakezweig I will order the book today. Thank you for all that you do! 👍🙂
🇺🇲🦅
Stay hard
Man, looks easy but know it’s not. it’s hard to comprehend that these guys are doing this compounded with all of the other stresses. Cold, sleep deprivation, physical exhaustion, etc. I see how a lot of guys try out and 3 out of 4 won’t make it.
Yah man the stress of the test kills people....last 3 hell weeks 36 completed and 1 died, out of 600 people who started in those classes
Say Jake, is there one man that we can contribute to that came up with BUDS training?
UDT world war 2

Jake, you’re giving great advice as always! Please keep the class 234 videos coming.🤙
I just did crossovers yesterday. Harder than I remember.
Yah they are what they are
Black panther what?
It's an old school tee shirt
@@jakezweig I can dig that.
Call myself doing something similar in a heated hotel pool like an idiot. All of a sudden I felt a quiet calmness creep up on me and I popped my head up just in time. I was on NAB in early 2000 when those two guys died in the tank. I was like wtf?
Yah man real facts
I’m gonna try to go to BUDS I was an all state football player I bet I can make it easy
Cool lets put some money where your mouth is. I will bet you the preparation to complete training again your soul
I always wondered, do the SEAL instructors target the Black and other people of color???
I don't know if target is the right word. They target weakness
I truly enjoy watching these training I was in the army when I went to boot camp it was a joke passed with flying colors it was easy due to the up bringing of my father was very stick but this seal trading is serious I would of gave it a shot
“Shit happens”….Yea I am not cool with that.
It’s friggin training. That’s on the Instructors if shit like that is happening in a dam swimming pool. Maybe the instructors could stop telling so many jokes to amuse themselves and do their dam jobs.
LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you have no clue what happens in the teams
R u a real seal or just some clown commentating? Lol
You got to watch the video when Don Shipley got me
@@jakezweig oh my bad i thought your one of those clowns talking out thier necks but never serve but ok as long as your a real seal i salute you sir thanks for your service! 🇺🇸
