  • My first model kit build after a 45 year break.
This is a great starter kit and I had such fun over the month or so and probably 50+ hours it took to complete.

Great job on the Leopard! Like yourself, I only got back into modelling a couple of years ago after a long (about 50 odd years) break. My young grandson is to thank for that, because I bought a cheap armour kit for for his birthday and helped him put it together, and I got hooked again. I have only have about a dozen kits under my belt since then, but I love the hobby once again. I faced a big learning curve, but I am getting better at, and I hope to improve on every model. I have watched a few of your builds posted on your channel and they are all excellent, and I hope to see more. Cheers from Australia!

*Tamiya basic kits are the best to test scratch and home made imporvements, 👏!*

Wow!! Nice job on that early Tamiya kit!! I have one in my collection that I’d never build since it’s off in several areas for an accurate out of the box build, but a nice kit for the collection. Sadly, Tamiya never went back to update this kit when they released their Leopard A4 kit back in 1979. Again, you did a nice job on the kit and as for the upside down bore evacuator, the crew forgot to tighten it down after cleaning it after tank gunnery practice!!

Funny running across this video, I am in the same boat. Dont think its been 45 years, but 30 at least. Long enough to where I remember this kit like they were the latest hotness. Question, what do the newer kits have the old ones dont? More detail? What makes this a $20 kit and others $50? Thanks! And looks GREAT! Correction, that looks INCREDIBLE! Your weathering is nice, havent ever heard of the oil paint dot techniques, I usually dry brush, will check that out. Usually, as in 30 years ago. Oh and believe it or not my box of tamiya paints are still good.

Thanks for the feedback. Since this model I've built quite a few others, some old some modern. The modern ones definitely have more detail and parts, but I enjoy the challenge of both. I'm currently building an old cheap Russian Marquette Panzer 38t and really enjoying it. I also look out for good pre-owned kits (unbuilt), which can save some cash. Good luck 👍
