I'm 61 and my son introduced me to this band through the album From Mars to Sirius. Specifically Flying Whales. It's so powerful to see them perform it live. There are these circle pits that form and they toss an inflatable whale amongst themselves before the epic drop. Wow. Mind blowing. Mario Duplantier on the drums....I call him Super Mario. He's just amazing. Joe's vocals are incredible and the lyrics are absolutely spot on. I love their morals and their opinions mirror my own on these environmental topics.

Gojira's the band that got me into metal. I went into it thinking metal was just a bunch of angry screaming about whatever violent stuff the vocalist felt like that day while the drummer randomly smashes the hell out of his kit. They were the ones who taught me metal could have a great deal of depth of feeling and meaning. Magma in particular is one of those albums that makes me feel things that are really hard to describe.

If you ever react to them again, I'd suggest doing their live of Global Warming. While not neccessarily their best song, it puts a lot more emphasis on Joe's vocal performance/range and has a lot more going that you can dig into

beside the genius lyrics Gojira , one is of the best and unique metal band ever , they have songs with more clean vocals , especially in their latest albums , they started very death metal and became more progressive with time .some songs you might like are " l'enfant sauvage " , " silvera " " low lands " about the death of their mother during the recording of the album magma " "born in winter " "this emptiness " , " Pray live at red rocks " oroborus live eurockeenne 2009 ) , stranded , sphinks ,amazonia , the shooting star ,global warming , those are songs not to agressive ..the recent stuff is more accessible , otherwise , classic songs such as the heaviest matter of the universe or flying whales , wolf down the earth ..every songs are good actually

Joe has the best voice in metal ever, he is the only guy who can sing with emotions other than anger while screaming

There are metal bands that kind of sing and ones that just scream. I prefer it, with the screaming, if I can kind of comprehend the lyrics without going to the liner notes or googling. I can listen to either .

    Hi there.
Consider analysing "Prelude to Madness" and "The Hall Of The Mountain King" by Savatage.
I think you would like it.
    Cheers.
