End on an era 😢 Stunningly captured Pannier!
Its the end of the line for V/Line locomotive hauled commuter trains on Bacchus-Marsh Line. #N459 and #N473 lead the last locomotive hauled commuter train on the Bacchus-Marsh Line before the self propelled cars take over the line. It would be nice to see the H sets get donated to Steamrail Victoria.
8:09 nice shot of the train race
Great video I was in Melbourne not long ago and only saw a few services hauled by the N class then.
This rare some nice shots, glad I was able to ride n459 on its last down service. Also at 3:37 why is the door open when the train is moving
Empty cars, nothing in it.
Doesn’t surprise me that a glorified commuter train is being put on nearly all lines on the damn network.
Could have just design and then build new locomotives and carriages, instead of building more of the same glorified commuter train…but nope, they went cheap!
Also nice video btw Pannier 😉
For Bacchus Marsh and Melton services have locos and carriages. Why? Because of locos and carriages will have much poorer acceleration far fewer trains can be run. All stations services to Melton and Bacchus Marsh would be horrendous.
Hell, Melton services should not be DMU's let alone Loco hauled. They should be EMU's using the Metro tunnel, likewise Wyndhamvale services.
Great catch and video
Another great video.
My only comment is not on your video, but the subject. The rolling stock appears to be clean but the loco not so much, a pity for the last loco hauled to Bacchus Marsh.
Are there any remaining services operated by H sets?
Yes. Geelong
Nice production - particularly the fade from evening to morning at Maddingley. Cheers!
Another service gone for the Ns 😥
At least they're storing some of the consists in Echuca instead of giving them away.
So the residents of Crapphus Marsh took a steaming dump on the tracks as the N class was approaching the station. Unfortunately it had to retire hurt, I mean rally hurt. 😅😅
Farewell...
Have they finished the Melton line electrification for suburban trains yet? Living in adelaide for 8 years so not sure what's been happening in Melbourne.
I'm pretty sure they haven't even started yet actually
@@Quasquith oh shit. Thats ridiculous. The boom that Melton and Bachus Marsh has had in recent years should warrant subutban trains.
@@jacintaedwards1123 The State Government has canned the Western Rail Plan.
What will happen to the H sets now?
Two sets are being stripped of parts, while three sets are stored at Echuca, another is soon to go up there for storage also.
While the SLH sets will remain for Geelong services.
would the loco drivers be transfered to other companys or retrained on velos ? and oops defective door
All V/Line drivers are qualified on Vlocity’s
I like to see 6 H sets be painted in the VR blue and operated by steamrail
Not a problem with that. That is a good idea. They should not be used in regular commuter services.
What will happen with the N’s ?
this didnt age too well as H sets ended up returning for a week or two
Yeah because the Rolling Stock policy in this state is absolute pants.
These are still useful trains why are they getting rid of them when they could be used to run melton shuttles on weekends to reduce terrible overcrowding especially inbound in the afternoon
because they are copying metros stupiddity what they did with the hitachis and some of the comengs
@@matthewdempsey6583 Really? The Hitachis are flimsy cheaply built trains. Glad they are gone. If they had not built velocities the DOT would have probably rebuilt the Hitachis as unpowered carriages pulled by underpowered locos such as the P Class. I am so glad they scrapped the Hitachis.
@@matthewdempsey6583 Absolutely terrible decision by vline, funnily enough, driving trailers would fix the current issues
Well, the H sets are converted Harris trains, well over 60 years old and might have developed cracks in their frames.
G2000.
