    I love how you notice and document the special little touches that some one else might not notice and just walk by. That's what makes traveling fun so thank you for taking me with you. I've never been to Bologne.

    I think you're so brave to travel to Italy on your own! What I love about your work (well, one of the many things I love) is that it seems truly unique. You really have your own authentic style, and I think that this is a strength that means you will have much success in the future. You're already doing great!

    Hi Kriksis, if you ever go back to Bologna you must visit some places, I live there and I think you will like them. A small bar called le serre in the giardini margherita. Then a bunch of market bars called mercato delle erbe. My favorite night bar called camera sud. And if you like nature you must walk up yo San luca the church up on the hill. Xxx

    Loved this vlog Kriksis. I would love to go to this book fair, just to see the art.

    Hey kriksis, I was reading something that reminded me of something you said about the roller coaster of feelings when visiting the book fair. Dr Ariely said in his book that our brains don’t make decisions in vacuum- we need relativity to know the value of things. Basically what that means is that we compare ourselves and our work to others whether we like it or not, it just happens automatically and naturally:) however I believe as artists we also connect to the world around us in a creative way that helps us produce beautiful work straight from the ❤️. I just wanted to share this because it helps me when I understand why I feel so many contrasting emotions over short period of time 🤪 thanks for taking us to BBF ☘️

    • @kriksis
      @kriksis  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for sharing this! I for sure compared myself to other artists while being in the fair. I understand why I felt this way and your comment only highlighted this! Thanks for sharing! :)

      Comparing oneself to anyone else is a mission impossible, which we can easily see for ourselves, if only we manage to stop the flood of old emotions and insecurities and take in the universe in that instant. This could be a good thing. As Oscar Wilde (probably never) said: "Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.". ;-)

    I'm so jealous! I love to travel alone. Traveling alone is better, you can do whatever you want and don't always have to check with the other person. Are you hungry? Do you have to go to the bathroom? It's so much better... Thanks for the video!

    I'm so happy that you went to this fair! Yes there were talented people and you are among them, you are unique and you totally belong to this world of children's books illustrators! It is good to look at the others' work even if it can feel a little discouraging. But is like to go to the museum, it is stimulating, it can be inspiring and it can also reinforce the confidence in our own work. And yours is amazing! Thank you so much for this fantastic trip and for the fantastic food :-)

    Hi Kriksis, that was very enjoyable. and YES for a flip through. I think experimenting with all sorts of media is good for the artist's soul :) screen-printing sounds interesting but Ive seen what you can come up with doing linocut work and you have a natural sense of story telling even in one single picture.
    Looking forward to a video on those books :)

    Hi! thank you so much to show your journey to the fair! This year will be my first in the fair. I would like to ask you if there is a place where you can put some illustrations (as the one of Rita that you showed)? I think that there was one in the past but they changed this after covid, or maybe I am wrong. I would also like to know how to get a review portfolio appointment. You have to do it in advance or directly in the fair? Thank you!
