So to update you, i bought a 14900k cpu as i had heard and read that the IMC (internal memory controller) on the 12th gen is often crap and that is why they wont run an XMP profile. But the 14th gen has now been polished and they are a lot better. As soon as i plugged it in it ran the XMP flawlessly, gaming, benchmmarks , you name it. Its the 12th Gen IMC - its crap and if your unlucky you get a crap one that wont run XMP. Ive tried four memory kits on the 14900k, they all run as they should XMP, none did on two 12th gen cpus i had , that ive now gotten rid of. This is all on my z690 Extreme board btw, i have two 32GB sticks running at 6400mhz no problem, gaming , benchmarking , all perfect and stable with the 14900k on XMP, i guess they have finally perfected the 10nm process now on 14th gen, at least this is what it points to for me and im using the 3101 bios on my extreme board.
Youll see for yourself. I was reluctant to buy a new CPU as its onyl about 15% faster than my old 12900k, but the big jump in memory speed and being able to run an XMP profile swung it for me and i took the plunge - it is the IMC on the 12th gen, they are poor and i was told this by an intel engineer before i pulled the trigger and bought one.
You have to tweak the voltages BECAUSE the 12th gen IMC is crap. You dont need to on 14th gen

Hello Sir, I have two questions for you: I would like to know whether to put in a mobo that has a DDR5 6000mhz RAM limit, inserting a pair of 7200mhz RAM and setting it for example to 5800 with the XMP profile from the BIOS; this Motherboard is about to start. I definitely have to set the Timings different from the default ones. Or would you boot the operating system in SPD and that's it? Second question: in an Asus B660M motherboard prepared with DDR5 RAM and with Intel 12th gen. I5 12500 CPU, Can it work with a pair of Cas type RAMs with 30cl latency? Or the Timing must be reset if bios doesn't detect them? Not all brands should work, even Non-QVL. Those who can try various types of kits know this. I hope you answer me. Advice? Thanks and have a good day

Because they run 64gb instead of 32gb (two single sticks) which is the maximum you can have to run at full speed.
It's not designed to run 6400 mhz with four 16 GB sticks. Remove two of them and run dual channel and it will run at full speed.

hello, under € 350 what is the motherboard that barricades / limits less the (high) frequencies of the DDR5 RAM? With the highest maximum frequency limit of the RAM, which supports the highest possible frequency in OC pushed DDR5 (with top-of-the-range CPU and RAM working at higher frequencies than those generally supported by the Z690 mobos, which therefore in this case could represent a limit and block / run RAM and CPU at a lower frequency than the max they could reach, unless we are talking about Asus Apex or very expensive mobos), then mobo that does not impose a frequency limit on CPU and RAM and letting them work at their high frequencies. I foresee in the future to probably put an i7-13900K (keeping the same mobo) so the only thing I need is that it is a model of mobo that lets CPU and RAM work at very high frequencies without barricading and not limiting CPU and RAM to the limit frequency of the mobo. With high max frequency limit (the one indicated by the manufacturers in the data sheets), but above all true in a real scenario, because I see that in the data sheets some models have indicated 5333MHz, others 6000MHz, but some say that all mobos with 4 DIMM / slot RAM barricade / limit all to 6400MHz (frequency of ddr5, even if these and the CPU could theoretically work in OC even at a little more than 6400MHz), hoping that this is not true, I am looking for a mobo suitable for OC pushed RAM, the goal is to try to bring even more mature ddr5 banks that I will buy in the future (with 13900k having better IMC and SA) at the highest achievable frequency, perhaps between 6500 and 7000MHz.

What a shitty bios as you need so many RAM tweak to properly work! I cant understand if this is a Motherboard or cpu revision problem! Latest BIOS available 2004 remove fall back possibility due some ME tweak.... and this is true for ALL lga 1700 ASUS MB

This guy doesn’t know what he is doing. I just spent so much time tryna figure out what is wrong with my pc and why I’m getting such trash fps. It’s cause I used these setting. As soon as I went back to auto everything back to normal.
