Bizarre solution but Ben White could switch to a defensive midfielder if Xhaka is not fit. Saliba would then take his place at the back.
White had played there a few times for Brighton and looked decent. It seems almost certain that Elneny leaves in January and even though that means we still have Sambi and AMN- it seems inadequate despite good performances by both.
Guendouzi is an obligation to buy so I don't think there is any scope of him coming back but is there a way for Arsenal to get more money for him? It would help fund the Laca replacement in the summer.

I don't think Arteta will ever go back to three in the back the way this 4-4-2 system is working. He doesn't even need a back three, Arsenal's backline is strong enough to have a normal back four.
saliba will not return to the arsenal. Om will pay 35 or 40M to keep him. so don't plan too much on him you would be severely disappointed waiting for his return
