Of the potential picks who was not loyal? Marco Rubio has been America first for a long time. He helped trump turn florida into a safe state. Tim Scott Has also been A huge supporter of trump from the get go. I think this was a bad pick. Vance does not help him with independent voters at all. He does not have a political career outside of Maga. Not that that in and of itself is a bad thing, but it shows that he's not bringing any fire own his own. He's great at debating , but nobody's gonna listen to the vice president. His military experience helps with the base , but who in the trump Base wasn't already going to vote for him? His wife is a minority (indian) but she's incredibly recluse. He's just a guy for the mainstream media to label a radical extremist. His positions on abortion are gonna be used against trump and his agenda of wanting to move it to the state. When trump said he just wanted it to be a state's right issue He put that issue to rest a little bit in the minds of average people. He could have just kept repeating that line, But instead he decides to pick a guy who Has a record contrary to that? Maga cult Will never learn. These are men who grew up in an environment Where they were constantly told that conservatives Hate them. And Tim Scott would have been a perfect way to give them representation and show them what conservative Values can do for a Black man born dirt poor in this country. Michigan & Pennsylvania were two of the most corrupt in 2020. The election head in Milwaukee County was recently tossed out of office because of "questionable" conduct during the 2020 election. Hopefully, a more honest person has replaced her.

I live in Oregon in fact I work out of Eugene which is about as liberal as It gets. I have a couple liberal co-workers they adamantly refused to vote for Trump even though they can't afford to buy a house.... But they're so discouraged and pissed with bride and they're all voting for Kennedy.... That’s going to be increasingly rare with each generation, as a smaller and smaller percentage actually serve in the military. Personally, I think it should be a requirement that at least one of the two on the ticket have served in the military. But modern generations are not like the Greatest Generation, when such a huge percentage served in either WWII or Korea.

Picking Vance, who is right in the middle of that upper wall, was a smart choice. Without that wall, his path to victory becomes more difficult. Vance was a very good strategic pick.

Trump choosing Vance proves that Trump right now has no doubts that he will win this election. He does not feel like he needs to choose a VP that could bring him hispanic or black voters, or choose a VP who is popular among the Establishment or a VP who is from a swing state.
He just went a chose a VP that he likes and very similar to him (policy-wise). He is literally choosing who would be the president in 2028, not who could increase his own chances of bring president in 2024.

the midwest is somewhat important to win, so i think Vance was a decent choice in that sense as well.

Vance is a pretty strategic choice. He was a pretty hardcore “Never-Trumper” in 2016-2020, and then he switched, and is now his VP pick, showing how Trump changed his opposition’s minds on him.

I live in Pittsburgh. I think his story and message will resonate and it will be very hard for Biden to win without Pennsylvania.
If he campaigns heavily in Toledo. Lansing, Milwaukee, Erie, even Rochester, Buffalo, all of Virginia outside of the DC suburbs, he could be good. I think he can pull crowds on his own and build excitement.
Also, the college educated vote overwhelmingly for Biden but as a Yalie vs Biden’s Syracuse JD and Harris’s Hastings it’s clear who has the better pedigree. Funny how Ivy League degrees only matter when the Dems have them.

While Vance wasn’t my top pick for VP, as I would’ve much preferred Vivek, Youngkin, Carson, or even Gabbard, I will give Vance a chance! He is still a younger face that won’t hurt Trump’s election chances.

My belief is that Trump wants someone young to reach the younger crowd. It is a plus with Vances' upbringing and background. He may lack career politician experience, but he has extreme promise to be one of the politicians that America needs. That's just my opinion
We have to remember that Rubio would have lost the electoral votes from Florida for the #2 spot. So on a rules basis...anyone from Florida had a point against him from the start. I may be unimportant but this might have hurt the vote in other states to have two people from Florida. The rest of the country may not be happy about that. Although people may still think of Trump as a New Yorker, but it still would be a problem. A lot of electors might not have voted for two from FL. Scott would have been a decent choice, but then again, that is two definitely southern state people. In the Rust belt, this could have been an issue. Vance isn't from the north or the south or the rust belt, so no swing staters would object. The has a distinct abortion stand, Trump's stand is a bit softer. But any state where that is the main issue for a huge portion of the population is already lost, so no great change in the electoral vote. This way, you have a big city tycoon and a conservative midwesterner. This is why I say this works for me. Picking a cabinet will be VERY interesting....
The more I learn about Vance, the more I feel better. He'll be inspiring just because he was not a Trumper before. But. He has been for a time.

Tulsi has the problem of party, but still could be in the government. We can't pull too many people out of the House.. We need the votes there. And, we may need the tiebreaker in the Senate after the next midterm. SO, this isn't a bad choice, all things considered. I like Vance. I like several of the others. Point of order, any state's electors cannot vote for both a presidential and vice presidential candidate from their state. It would be very risky to have de Santis or anyone else from Florida on the ticket with Trump. If the electoral vote was close, the loss of Florida's 30 votes for the Republican VP could put the Democrat candidate for VP in the job. That would be extremely awkward.
You just have the VP move and declare residency elsewhere. Not a huge deal.
Its a shame a state like California that is both large geographically and in terms of population is so heavily to one party. Must be many "forgotten" Californians outside LA and SF.
