  • More single women are using Danish donor sperm to make babies. Award-winning filmmaker Sue Bourne follows four women on the long, hard journey to create their own Viking babies.
You're in your 30s or 40s. Your body clock is ticking. You want a baby but you don't have a man. What do you do?
Growing numbers of British women are using donor sperm, with many of them turning to Denmark, the new sperm capital of the world. It has become a huge global business and is now one of Denmark's biggest exports. Each week, straws of frozen Danish sperm are shipped out to over 70 countries. Award-winning filmmaker Sue Bourne's film follows four women as they try to make a baby using Danish sperm. For all of them, it turns out to be an extraordinary and hugely difficult and moving journey in a world where women no longer need men to create a family.
One would-be mother describes it as being as easy as buying a CD online. Websites offer pages of Danish donors, with baby photos, family histories, handwritten letters and even voice recordings. Each straw of frozen sperm costs a few hundred pounds - it can either be shipped to a clinic in the UK or to directly to people's addresses for home insemination. Not only that, but every week women fly into Denmark to be inseminated at clinics there.

When are they going to make a documentary about all the sperm donor children and their children? A whole documentary on the children of anonymous donors should be made too. How about hearing their side of things.
None of these potential mothers seem to think about the chold they would be having. What would the CHILD want? They would want to know where they come from, their origins on both sides of their biological family, what their father is like, and of course growing up knowing him! Would they want 100s of half siblings?!
Did you hear that donor say that the eventual children from his sperm would not be brothers or sisters to his own children?! Can you imagine how that would make a donor sperm child feel???? Their biological father accepts his own children born to him by the woman he is in a long-term relationship with and who he creates a family with as his own but not you, because you, just like his 'own' children, came into being through one of his sperm that he sold to a sperm bank, he does not accept you as his own.
And what if the sperm donor dies before the child reaches 18, and they havent had the opportunity to even meet him?
Would anyone WANT to have hundreds of half siblings? What about falling in love with your half sibling without knowing it? The sperm are exported all around the world so one could even date a half sibling in another country and not know it. Imagine...a beautiful holiday romance...with your half sibling.
What about genealogy and the family line. 'Well.... my 'father/grandfather/great grandfather, I mean sperm donor/ grandfather/great grandfather was a sperm donor so I don't know anything about those family origins.'
This is all quite apart from the fact that the vast majority of sperm donor children do NOT KNOW they are sperm donor children!!!!!!!!

Psychologically not true and with a little research you’ll see this. Children need to be shown healthy relationships - a child with a secure and happy single mother is better off than a child with parents that argue and demonstrate unhealthy relationship patterns. So if it’s looking impossible for a woman to find a good partner in time before she needs to have a baby, then it’s not actually bad for the kid. Obviously two happy parents who demonstrate healthy conflict is ideal but if it’s not possible it’s actually *better* for a child to not be around that

Are they expecting YOU to raise their child(ren) NO. As an adoptee, I can honestly say that just because there are other options out there, there is zero guarantee that you're going to a good place. At least these amazing humans are going through ALL the options, All I can think is how very "Christian " of you all to be judgemental, hypocritical and closed minded. Having positive male role models is important yes, but having a parent (s) who truly care and are committed to bringing a life into the world is pretty needed too. I truly feel empathy for these women. Feminist ideology has lost far too many children to abortion.
    Sad truth.
At the age of 39, my clock was ticking so hard it was unbearable to think I might not become a mother. My generation was the first wave feminist, including most men I knew. None of the men I had even long relationships with,
    they didn’t want children.
So at 39, no husband, no prospects of relationship at that time. I felt a sense of deep grief.
    I decided to get pregnant.
I chose a man who looked like me.
(I shudder to accept my thinking at that time) Regardless,
I did become pregnant soon thereafter. At 40 I gave birth to my only child, a son. At the age of 42,
    I entered menopause.
I have zero regrets about my decision to get pregnant.
I accept the fact, becoming pregnant out of wedlock is not the ideal, but God has granted me forgiveness for my sins.
My son is now 21years old.
He is well developed into a fine young man. I do not hold onto him too tightly. He is the arrow in my quiver. He shoots straight and will not be a statistic. When I look at my son and myself, i cannot help but to recall the story of Hannah in the Old Testament of The Bible.
Hannah pleaded with God to open her womb to allow Hannah to have a child. In return, Hannah committed her son to The Lord.
This is a fantastic uplifting story in the Bible. Look it up.

This is a minor point, but 'viking' is a job description and not a genetic trait indicative of Scandinavian descent. I'm not sure that anyone these days should be excited at the prospect of their children going viking. And personally I'm a little uncomfortable at a preferential desire for a particular phenotype, especially a typically 'Nordic' one (i.e. blonde hair, blue eyes, white skin) being glossed over as 'oh, my child is such a little viking - isn't that sweet?'.

The flag of Denmark is also the oldest national flag on the globe though that is later, most of northen Europe were part of Denmark back then and it was danish settlers in many of these other regions that back then were part of Denmark, like Iceland, Norway, good part of Sweden, and Germany etc, also England, that was called Danelaw until they became sovereign in 1066.

Its also one of the safest..noticed that US ranked Denmark, or capital Copenhagen, as the safest in the world in 2022.
and its a society with a lot of cohesion amongst the people and a huge safety net and free education and a free healthsystem if you get sick etc.
I think its many of these things, that makes people turn to Denmark, and not so much this blue eyed blond high nordic look, as blueeyed people will be out with the bathwater in some decades or very rare simply form genetics..as you can also see in the USA.. a century ago 50% of americans had blue eyes, now its only 1/7 and the same we see in many western societies.
so its actually better to pursue a child with blueeyes if you into some aspect of diversed-society and want some variety amongst people, so we dont all look the same.. and its the same with people with freckles, often in the west.. also not looking good for the future, as that is also being outwashed by genetics..

Why are women not allowed to choose what race thier baby is? If you are white, you want a white child, there is nothing wrong with that.

Ironically, the children born from this science project NIGHTMARE are the least considered in all of this.
Having a mother and a father should be deemed a human right.
This garbage should be 10000% illegal.
