This scene touched me so much. Three years ago, after watching Sing, I decided to join my country's local talent show, singing I'm Still Standing because I related to Johnny so much. Then yesterday I went to see Rocketman, in the same theatre/cinema in which the talent show was held. First of all, I am not having a good time at all, I'm struggling with mental issues and social anxiety. When this scene came out I almost cried, and at some point I had the impression Taron looked at me in the eye, with his face that said "I'm proud of you", while singing that song. MY song. Like he perfectly knew what I did in that stage even though he isn't even aware of my existence. It was one of the best experiences ever. If I ever got the chance to see him, I would hug him tight and thank him so much for what he did for me.
Good for ya bud. Hope ya meet him, Also Keep singing. Cause you made it sound like your a good singer so rooting for ya. - A random Guy from the internet
The fact that some people still don't believe the music video is the original, just with Taron pasted in and Elton taken out, amazes me. i mean, you can literally see a 20 something Bruno Tonioli dancing near Taron!
It's funny you should say that. I wasn't sure if it was the original or if they had re-filmed it. Knowing that Bruno was in it when he was very young, I looked for him. Once I saw him, I knew that they had digitally placed the actor in the original music video.
You could never know what it's like Your blood like winter freezes just like ice And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use And did you think this fool could never win Well look at me, I'm coming back again I got a taste of love in a simple way And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid I'm still standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah Once I never could hope to win You starting down the road leaving me again The threats you made were meant to cut me down And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now You know I'm still standing better than I ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid I'm still standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid I'm still standing after all this time Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah

The original video was already pretty iconic so they wanted to recreate a real moment like Bohemian Rapsody did Live Aid and Walk the Line did Folsom Prison for Johnny Cash, and more recently Elvis 56 Milton Berle, 68 Special 69/70 Vegas and 77 Unchanged Melody
They make it seem like this was the very moment Elton got sober, when in reality, he got blackout drunk with Duran Duran after the video shoot, and trashed the place. He walked in and asked "What happened?" and his personal assistant replied with: "You happened!"
thatonedrewguy i was thinking the same thing. But tbh, the whole movie takes so much creative license i dont really consider it a proper biopic anyway. Its better to just treat it like fiction.
Duran Duran came out in '83. This came out in 2019, right? 2019 from 2000 would be 19 years. Then from 1991 to 2000 would be another 9 years which makes 28. So he must have gotten sober around 1991 or so way after Duran Duran first came around.
Taron Egertson did an amazing job playing Elton John!! For anyone who hasn't seen this movie yet I would highly recommend it. It was so good, start to finish:)
How in the world Taron didn’t even get an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actor” will always be a mystery… I also think this is absolutely the best “biopic” movie based on a singer, I like how surprisingly mature it is
This movie amd Elton's music has helped me get through a very rough year. A break up, academic problems. Mental health problems. The death of my uncle. The death of my grandfather. Its been rough but i got through it and yeah im still standing better than I ever did 😊😊😊😊❤
I love how it shows how hesitant he was at continuing on with his life, taking the first steps in a new direction then building on himself which is what I'm going through right now, but yes the beginning of this video does make me cry a little with hopes of things getting better and hopefully uplifting in the near future, so yes it does give me a little hope
I just went through a really tough breakup I honestly didn’t want to do but I had to for my own health. I found this song after briefly remembering it, this is helping me through it massively. It makes me remember that even though she abused and manipulated me I’m still standing.
I remember when I first started listening to Elton in 1970 and just missed meeting him whilst he was touring Western Australia in 1971..., and became a HUGE part of my life in 73' and 74'..., especially with Crocodile Rock and Benny and the Jets. Here I am now turning 65 and STILL loving his music..., thank you Sir Elton John. 😍🤩
Me weighing two options in both of my hands: Bohemian Rhapsody Rocketman Bohemian Rhapsody Rocketman Bohemian Rhapsody Rocketman Bohemian Rhapsody... Rocketman!
It’s hard to explain because it kind of involves an image to make sense but I’ll try my best to explain it... Imagine you have two option you raise the palm of you hand and say one of the two options and then you do the same to your other hand but it’s the second option and you then go back and fourth with it.
I feel like the energy of this last song is a love letter from Taron to Elton’s overcoming of his addictions (save for shopping) and triumph of finding happiness and peace. And I love it. 🥰
In this part I literally screamed, cried, and clapped I loved that they added this song to the ending. I also woke up my parents and got in trouble. What did I learn? Even when things are like a unstoppable nightmare there is always victory! And also not to watch amazing movies at night when you're parents are sleeping.
I'll never forget the Story my Dad tells me that shows truly how humble and kind Elton is. My Dad used to work for Disney and he was an early Director for "Gnomeo and Juliet" before it was passed to another Director and Dad started on a different project. While he was on the project though he and my Mom, whom had Breast Cancer, got to see Elton John at a concert in Las Vegas and had dinner with him and his partner afterward. Mom and Dad had a great time at the Concert but it was the Dinner that was extra special. Elton saw my Mom with her fragility and loss of hair and understood what she was going through. So when everyone was taking their seats around the table he made sure he sat next to her and he had many conversations with her and made sure she was comfortable. When Mom and Dad came back they told the story and she says it was one of the best nights she ever experienced. She passed away a year later. It was hard to go through but I'm happy that Elton was able to give her and the rest of us a lasting memory that she was treated like royalty by Elton John himself. If I ever get to meet him myself, I would tell him that story and tell him thank you for giving our family that gift.

I felt terrible to! Now I'm happy to see that I am not the only one!! 😂
I'm from the original video generation, but I love this version so much. Taron really got us, didn't he?
No not at all, these version ar bastly different, this sounds more like a "redemption song" like you go from a dark path to a better one, thats why I think this version feels more engaiging than the original.
We shall never forget that without Elton none of this would exist in the first place.
No, i like this version too
This scene touched me so much.
Cause you made it sound like your a good singer so rooting for ya.

i wish you the best of luck in meeting him, you honestly deserve it. Im rooting for ya...

This song is how I feel I have been through a dark time in my life when I just wanted to end it all and this song really gives me hope.
His mum was wrong. He is loved now, properly.
You can really tell by the way he pops in the video
@@misspriss2482 they pasted taro s body into the original 16mm music video from the early 80s
I thought so.
And somehow it works.
You could never know what it's like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
And did you think this fool could never win
Well look at me, I'm coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
Once I never could hope to win
You starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now
You know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
thx u sooo much
Wow
oh man, Reid is probably getting egged everytime he leaves his fucking house since this movie came out.
Thanks for this; I'm still learning the lyrics and sometimes I mess up the words.
As someone who’s struggled with mental health self harmed, attempted suicide twice this song has a lot of meaning for me and I always think of this song when I think of the dark times in my life. I’m still standing 💪🏾
wow Elton trained Eggy to sing after saving him from the virus
The man has been through so much, he chose to prove to everyone why he was great, instead of highlighting the negativity. Such an inspirational guy.
Taron's performance and vocals in this movie is just outstanding.
My favorite scene from any film this year. So memorable and powerful and a nice nod to Elton for overcoming his drug problem. Also love how in the beginning he comes in the rehab center with dark colors and horns showing his negativity then at the end comes out with white colors showing he is clean.
From singing it in the movie Sing, saving Elton John in Kingsman movie to finally become Elton John in a movie. Life came full circle for him.
So happy for him!
Taron Egerton basically sang this song this song twice, in two feature-length films. Dang, wow!
Don't know if we will have a third time. Maybe he sings it with other people along with him and not as a solo.
And used the original elton John music video which is amazing how they imposed tarons body into the 80s music video
I wonder if the fact that Taron also had I'm Still Standing as his climactic song in Sing helped his casting.
It certainly proved to everybody that he could do Elton if he wanted.
Could be, all I heared was that after recording Kingsman: The Golden Circle he was asked to play Elton Hercules John in the biopic/musical fantasy
Andrew Harding ¡Pensé lo mismo!
Actually - Matthew Vaughn came in as a producer of Rocketman and essentially brought Egerton in to replace Tom Hardy
@@admiralrooster I had assumed Dexter Fletcher had Taron in mind from the conception phase, since they've worked together before.
I cannot get over this scene, I play this on repeat every day!
I love it.. he turned his pain and agony into a beautiful song and he got back up from drugs.
You know that's not how it happened in reality, right?
Sam Trotter Not exactly, no, but the statement still stands.
The direction is so good. Every shot is designed soo well. Expecially the shot at 2:07. The close, intense view fits the lyrics.
I remember being on the theatre and this scene really got me. I’ve rewatched this scene many many times at home and I get me every times I love love the way it’s acted and the way he sings it’s perfect. I think it’s perfect until he opens the door. Instead of having like a music video moment on the beach. I would have use that moment to show the highlights of his life like: doing the soundtrack for the lion king, getting kids, getting knighted, etc. I feel to have all those beautiful epic moment with the show I’m still standing would have had a bigger message and impact. Things will get better.
czcams.com/video/TZI5cAV0BOo/video.html
The original video was already pretty iconic so they wanted to recreate a real moment like Bohemian Rapsody did Live Aid and Walk the Line did Folsom Prison for Johnny Cash, and more recently Elvis 56 Milton Berle, 68 Special 69/70 Vegas and 77 Unchanged Melody
It always gets me when he’s in the pool and sees his child self.
I love how they blended the original video and the new footage together so seamlessly!
Taron Egertson did an amazing job playing Elton John!!
For anyone who hasn't seen this movie yet I would highly recommend it. It was so good, start to finish:)
I second that!
I took my cousin who's 11 and.. yeaaaa that was a mistake
@@imthegoldensun9186 😅🤣I know which scene you're talking about Isaac....
@@imthegoldensun9186 Whoops. Does she/he like Elton John's music or is she/he a fan of The Lion King?
Two different versions of Im Still Standing from taron and im in love even more
With the original music video of elton John, taro s body is oatdd into the original.... Don't forget
How in the world Taron didn’t even get an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actor” will always be a mystery…
I also think this is absolutely the best “biopic” movie based on a singer, I like how surprisingly mature it is
Director: how good can you sing taron
Taron: *Y E S*
This movie amd Elton's music has helped me get through a very rough year. A break up, academic problems. Mental health problems. The death of my uncle. The death of my grandfather. Its been rough but i got through it and yeah im still standing better than I ever did 😊😊😊😊❤
Great!
I'm so in love with Taron's voice it's ridiculous and this scene is my favorite!!
The, not one of, THE MOST POWERFUL moment is him striking that first note! A TRIUMPH and a show of how far he's come!
Anyone else wondering how many takes it must’ve taken for Taron to grab the cane?
Actually he did that in one take
it not that fuckng hard
Airsoft da Zueira
im just kidding
What an original comment
Jack go fuck yourself.
I just went through a really tough breakup I honestly didn’t want to do but I had to for my own health. I found this song after briefly remembering it, this is helping me through it massively. It makes me remember that even though she abused and manipulated me I’m still standing.
I watched Rocketman for the first time today, and man... It's a hell of movie!! I loved it so much!! Taron is perfect being Elton!
The build up is soooooooo good. It’s like he’s picking himself out of the rubble, dusting himself off, and carrying on. It really inspires me!
they managed to insert taron egerton into the original music video via visual effects but still made it convincing. mad props.
It's incredible seeing that even after the impossibly low lows, Elton was still able to be truly happy by the end
Elton is honestly such an inspirational person, he's gone through so much and he's still standing
HOW HE DID NOT GET NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR? GSHSJSBSJ
I know right
Małgorzata Rumowska the movie came out too early.
@Adam Tatti it was a diversity nomination, film was crap
@@elektra81516 get out was great
Taron did such an amazing job singing Elton’s songs! I loved it!
No words can even explain how much I love this film best film of 2019
Taron sang it all himself throughout the movie. What a talented guy! Great actor and performer
He's one of my favorite actors.😃
I think that woman in a green jumper at 2:45 fist her hand in the air abit too early lol
The way they all come up after looks intentional
Lol
He saved Elton John
He sang Elton John
He Became Elton John
This song helped me get through A LOT of bullies man I’ll tell u that
I cry everytime I listen to this
He deserved a Oscar for this movie.
Taron singing this song twice and they sound so different. The fact he can sing this song differently proves he is a great actor
Singing the same song in 2 different ways has nothing to do with acting.
That expression of sheer determination and the smile forming when those first chords hit is such a beautiful subtle moment ❤️
I love Taron's goofy smile that it freezes on
So talented. So strong. So flamboyant.
This picks me up everytime. Thank you.
Loooove the rainbow hatband and pink sunglasses they added. We get it!
I like the blue glasses Elton is wearing at the end of the video, credits
Me weighing two options in both of my hands:
Bohemian Rhapsody
Rocketman
Bohemian Rhapsody
Rocketman
Bohemian Rhapsody
Rocketman
Bohemian Rhapsody... Rocketman!
Candace Munguia I’m confused as to what you mean
It’s hard to explain because it kind of involves an image to make sense but I’ll try my best to explain it...
Imagine you have two option you raise the palm of you hand and say one of the two options and then you do the same to your other hand but it’s the second option and you then go back and fourth with it.
Justin Bel bohemian rhapsody is actual shit compared to this movie
Justin Bel Bohemian Rocketman
Justin Bel I have a similar question for you. If you have shit in one hand and gold in the other, what do you choose?
I feel like the energy of this last song is a love letter from Taron to Elton’s overcoming of his addictions (save for shopping) and triumph of finding happiness and peace. And I love it. 🥰
The fact Taron wasn't even nominated for an Oscar let alone win it- is a travesty.
This film had me crying or on the verge of tears the whole time. This part had me full on crying joyful tears. So good!!!!
In this part I literally screamed, cried, and clapped I loved that they added this song to the ending. I also woke up my parents and got in trouble. What did I learn? Even when things are like a unstoppable nightmare there is always victory! And also not to watch amazing movies at night when you're parents are sleeping.
I love this song
Dexter Fletcher and Taron Egerton packed the film with full energy from start to finish.
This scene only proves that Elton Hercules John is “Still Standing”😁
Amen brother
Well nahhhh
Bruh this is still a banger to this day
I was listening to this after I passed one of my college finals
