- This is Day 2, Leg 2 of a 14 day trip. Today I moved up to Eks Bay (K47) from Long Slu (K15). Temperatures are in the mid to high 80's, so very hot for this neck of the woods!
I planned to do some kayaking and hiking from this site but temps were too warm and discouraged me. Later the T-storms confirmed I made a good decision.
A big rock of a site but nice. For more details and additional photos check out the blog here: shantysanctuary2021.blogspot....
I'm out for two weeks so there is a lot more to come.

I am so glad that the CZcams algorithm suggested this. I am an adventure boater but your setup appears so purpose focused for the conditions of Boundary Waters and Quantico. What an adventure you are experiencing. Thanks.
Thanks for your comment. You may want to add the Temagami Region of Ontario as well.
If you go to my channel videos you will find two trips to Temagami (2018, 2019) on a home built rental boat prior to buying this boat. I was planning a return to Temagami for a third trip but Covid stopped that effort in the fall of 2020. That led to the purchase of this boat, which I hope to take to Temagami this fall if border crossing is not a problem.
So happy I found this…really great stuff.
Thanks for your kind words!
We are having a very cold spring here in MN so my next trip has been delayed, which is planned for Oahe Reservoir in SD. A big contrast from my usual boundary water type of country with lots of rock, pine, and spruce. This time it will be rolling open prairies and river bluff country!
Are these available to rent anywhere up there? Live in Florida and would love to take the same trip you did.
No, this is a homebuilt one off boat. However, there are large houseboats for rent in the Park.
For a better option check out my channel playlists from Temagami in 2018 and 2019 or the blogs here: temagamihouseboat2018.blogspot.com/ and temagamihouseboat2018.blogspot.com/. The boat in these videos and blogs are also homebuilt, but are for rent. The waters are very similar to Voyageurs NP but do require a border crossing to get there. I hope to return there for a third trip this fall.
Wow u r so lucky Mr. Such a beautiful place.🍻👍
Yes, I'm blessed to live close enough that I can access these beautiful places. Though, I live about 285 miles from Voyageurs NP. So it is a bit of a drive.
That boat is really interesting. Very cool
Thanks! I can't take credit for the base design since it was built by another party originally intended to serve as a base camp for duck hunting on the Mississippi, but never used for that purpose. I did major mods to make it useable for long trips.
LOOKS LIKE A FUN ADVENTURE THANKS FOR BRINGING US ALONG ANY VIDS ON THE INTERIOR BOAT STRUCTURE?? I LIKE IT =
I hope to do a more complete series on modifications done to the boat in the near future.
@@ShantySanctuary Yeah I am pretty curious to learn more about your craft.
Episode 5, Trip 2 (Fall Trip), has more video of both interior and exterior features. You can take a look at that for a good overview.
Time permitting, I will eventually get around to providing more details on the mods I made to the boat for making longer trips.
