- The famous Oguta Lake is located in Oguta town, Imo State, South Eastern Nigeria.
At 8.05 km length and 2.41 km width , it is the largest natural lake in Imo State and the entire South Eastern region.
The lake was one of the first territories the British used to advance into the Eastern region.
Tales from the locals have it that the two rivers Urashi and Ogbude that flow from Njaba through Aju and Awbana are male and female.
It is said that they were once married and after a quarrel ensued the greenish water "Ogbude" and the brownish water "Urashi" separated never to mix again.
Over the years, indigenes have adopted the worship of the two rivers as their god and goddess with shrines erected in honour of each on both sides of the banks.
Despite seeing thousands of tourists troop to behold these angry river yearly, its sad to see that this tourist attraction is now a treasure abandoned.

Yaay, Oguta my birth town...I haven't been to Imo since my parents left( I was just some months old). Great documentary girl, learnt a lot💕💕
Wow, the town has developed way more than it was when you were born. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found it educative😁
Finally caught up on the videos I have missed out on and I must say you are doing great job and I am very proud of your growth and adventures....#babygehmovement
Thanks Queen Raffy for watching them all ❤ and with continuous support from people like you, growth is inevitable. #Babygehmovement , we move!
Absolutely enjoyed watching this.
My family is from Oguta LGA (Oguta 1) but I haven’t seen the lake myself, just some of Urashi 😅 Beautiful and frightening at the same time
Wow! Nice to make your acquaintance Ngozi. You should visit the beautifully frightening lake when you get a chance, you could stand far off at the water bank. 😊
okay, i had enough time to watch this video from beginning to end. Thumbs up Beekay. Our #BabyGeh is taking us places. It's actually a shame that the government had to abandon such a center of attraction with little or no means of maintaining the place which can provide revenue. Thank you Blessing
Glad I could help you see Oguta lake. You're welcome! don't forget to share with friends.😁
Keep your good work any time I come to Nigeria I find a away to support u.....
Thank you🙂
nice video
Thanks for watching StigTV👍
Whoever thought a divorce can be this beautiful 😀. Lovely documentary...I hope I get to see in person one day.
I know right, thank you. I hope you get to see it in person too & if you do don't forget to come share your thoughts.
🤦🏽♂️ I really need to get off my butt and travel somewhere very soon... Its been a while since I went home, I think I'll start there 😁 Loved your tour ❤👍
You really need to travel! Bauchi is a great place to start the tour, Yankari is definitely a go to destination. Thanks for watching and engaging with my content🤗
Wow this is awesome
Thank you Okafor. Since you like this I'm sure you'll like my other South Eastern travel vlogs, do check them out.😁
Amazing!
Thanks
Thank's for you Video Sista..
Thanks for watching.🤗
Beautiful. 😍
Thank you🙏
Great adventure! Thanks for always intimating us with priceless facts and knowledge about this great nation
I'm glad to inform through edutainment. Thanks for watching
The rivers are not fighting and they are not angry with each other. The natural phenomenon is that they have different salt concentrations or densities and so cannot easily mix.
Thanks Nnamdi for your insightful contribution that has demystified the state of rivers Aju and Awbana 🙏
We all know but this their beliefs
@@cryptoguy868 Must they keep believing lies for ever? Na wah for una.
People that make up stories make them up for fun. It's not like they believe it all the time. It's a nice story to tell kids under the moonlight
Nice content
Thanks for watching Rukevwe
Thank you very much for this video 🙏🏿😈
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to get updated on new content every other week.
It really looks like a documentary with humor 😂 I love it!!!
I thought you were going to fall on your butt when you came out the boat😂😂😂
That was the aim, a fun documentary. The jumped was quite a distance and the boat was unstable.
Beautiful lake for projects marine slipway ship and shipbreaking yard part, other side pleasure jetsky and canoe
It is indeed a beautiful lake, unfortunately very little development has come to it.
Preach!
💪🏾
Blessing and explorations, I guess one of your hobbies is adventure, cool video, I love you 😍😘... Plus you finally accepted my request on FB 🙄🙄🙄
Yes one of my hobbies is travel & adventure, as always thanks for watching. Apologies on the delay in accepting your FB request
The Source of Orashi River is Ezeama, Dikenafai, the headquarter of Ideato South L.G.A, that place is another tourists attraction, Orashi takes off, 183m (600ft) above mean sea level, from the rocks in Ezeama community of Dikenafai, Imo State
Wow thanks D'conquer for your contribution, I'll love to visit Ezeama soon.
@@BlessynKure I love what you guys are doing promotion Africa, without you telling your story no one will do it better than us, western media always promote badside of Africa, showing bad images of Africa.. Continue what you're doing, I know is not easy atimes you will feel like giving up because not getting a lot of views and subscriber, but never give up, continue one day you will make a video that will make you popular..
I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement, thank you.
I passionately do this in hopes of changing the stereotypical Nigerian narrative one person and destination at a time, that being achieved is enough for me.
Lovely documentary but please make it longer next time. Thnx 💞
Thank you Lady Silva, I'll work on that.
Your friends are so hilarious
Thanks for sharing, nice video and i like your voice.
Why is there not more investment in tourism. Im Jamaican and Jamaica is very big on tourism. Whenever I come to Nigeria I want to go site seeing, but all i do is go to restaurants, bars and museums. Its so frustrating because Nigeria is a beautiful place, but safety comes first, i can tell you i would not be getting on that boat without life jackets.
Hey Anna-Kay, thanks for watching. I am hopeful the tourism sector will get more attention going forward seeing that more creators are tapping into it and hopefully investors jump on too.
I hope you get to go site seeing soon. There are tour groups that organize group tours from time to time so you can join the group if you happen to be in the country at the time.
Lol I did not think through the risk of getting on the boat without a jacket tbh I'll be more careful next time.
I also hope to visit Jamaica soon, I'm such a fan of the cultural heritage, sea and language.
I hope you keep making vedios like this, if i had the money, i would invest ( God bless me ooo) because Nigerians are hard workers and need outlets foe relaxation, not just in the big cities or for the rich. Im mostly in the east, I will look into those tours for my next trip and please make some recommendations.
Please if you can you shoud visit Jamaica. It is very beautiful and people are welcoming. We have more in common with Nigeria than people realise. My husband loved it, he said he felt like he was in Nigeria.
@@anna-kayukaegbu3427 Yes! I plan to continue putting out these content God willing and God will bless you for even thinking of investing (tbh it's the thought that counts).
There are so many beautiful places asides the big cities especially if you are a lover of nature, I plan to find them as time goes on.
You can check some South Eastern travel suggestions in my "Travel" playlist and here are some that have been on my list for a while: Ngwo falls & pine forest / Milken hills Enugu, Ibom resort, Akwaibom, the Enugu Museum is also very rich in Igbo history but you can't take pictures or make videos so I didn't document my visit, Mbari culture & art center Owerri, Aba market ( if you are feeling adventurous) , Ogbunike caves anambra, National war museum Umahia. If you need more places do let me know.
I have always been quite fascinated by Jamaica, Patois, the colorful carnivals, beaches etc and I hope to visit soon.
Your name is ukaegbu igbo name how come
Riding in the boat without a life jacket is a big NO for me… too risky
Wish I got a closer view of the shrines
Amazing exploration, hopefully the government would take heed.
Thank you, I hope this gets to the appropriate authorities
@@BlessynKure Which ever way it is, you sure having a lot of fun
Nice One
Thank you
I love your voice
Thanks Shehroz 😊
Me at 3:Am looking for a video for an little experiment where they took the water home and try to mix it up together... I didn't find any
Lol you are really adventurous.
Did you watch the part of the video that showed the shrines on both sides of the rivers?
Divorce water lol , this is natural phenomena whereby two rivers meet , they can never mix up no matter what, is like a border between the two. nice video
Hahaha yes the myth says they were divorced hence the insolubility. Thanks for watching😁
@@BlessynKure Exactly :D , so many factors are expected in this type of behaviour . e.g halocline / thermocline
Nice one, Oguta is so cool. Nice airy place like this that the government could make a fortune out of.
But what do i know.
Thanks. Well said, there is a fortune to be made from this place, I hope subsequent administrations make the most out of it
My lovely villa
It's truly lovely Jeff😁
Hello BlessynKure, where are you from? Your last name(surname) sounds like some one from Niger State. For some of us born in Niger State, specifically, Minna, know most of the Gwari, Nupe and Hausa names. It appears to me that your mother must be from the southern part of the country, and probably, from the East, because all your adventures tend to be from the Eastern Nigeria.
Hello Darlington, I'm from Kaduna state and the name "Kure" is common to both states.
I am genuinely fascinated by the Igbo culture and the pride the people take in it and decided to explore more and tell my experiences during my stay there. No, My mother isn't from the south eastern part of Nigeria.
I plan to document more of my travels around Nigeria Post COVID.
This lake is bigger than Akulu lake in Anambra I guess.
I haven't been to Agulu lake so I can't say for sure.
Nne I like your show
Daalụ Zulu
Welcome
It's really a treasure abandoned my dear, as I was watching the video my dad was also telling me some stories of the lake... Thank God you now have liver, you can naw fly a boat.
Its rather unfortunate. The liver is yet to get to that level, but soon enough
You dey talk about mummy water ontop of water you were lucky
Hahaha I was only explaining the scenery.
What happens if one takes the water from either sides and pours into the other.
Good question, I didn't dare try it 😂
Yh I do no the lake it the best lake in Imo state
Thanks King Alex for watching 👍🏾
I want to see where it joined the sea
I would love to see that too, I know it will eventually be emptied in the Niger River but for now no one knows at what point that happens.
Thanks for watching.
How do you speak this way?? You are good
Thanks Michael😁
watch the video not how she speaks, na omata u be? lol
@@kenbatonadigweh3504 Na your babe? Shuu?
No safety vest 🦺🤔. Always use your life vest 🦺 in case of the unexpected please.
Thank you Uzo 🙏🏾 I am more cautious now and always ensure I use a life vest on water.

Just myth, I don’t believe the tale.
You complain alot..
You complained it's not maintained. You complain about the boat. Don't visit my community again
Hello Nnabuenyi, could you honestly answer these questions to yourself; is the facility functioning at peak capacity? , could the place be better maintained? , could it be improved on so the community will reap more dividends of having tourist attraction asides bragging rights?. However, visiting Oguta was a delight, thanks for having me.
