    I have Ion's sky blue in my hair right now, and i love it. I only dyed the under half of my hair and so far it's remained bright for about a month but it's starting to become a bit dull. Would definitely recommend for someone that's a bit more serious about wanting colorful hair and the commitment.

    Yes and I used the same blue dye, just diluted with conditioner to get a light turquoise. The color it looked in the beginning was after a few washings with detergent. This stuff sticks like crazy.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    When I did my hair the first time, I just had dark blue tips. For the tips I mixed in some of the purple thinking it would make it more purple, but it just came out a really pretty blue. I attempted to get the same thing for this dye. It just made the blue have a slightly different tint of blue.

    If you put the blue over black it will either shimmer blueish in the sun or not show up at all. You definitely need to pre-lighten. The lighter you get, the more vibrant the color.

    Woo, just dyed my hair blue last Friday! First time ever dyeing my own hair, so I made a mess all over the place, haha. You kept it very neat.
    Love the end result, gorgeous!!

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    I honestly can't remember. With semi-permanents it doesn't really matter how long you leave them in since they don't harm your hair. I've noticed that the longer you leave it in, the longer it lasts so, it's all up to you.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    With semi-permanent dyes there is no developer. It is just the color itself, which is why prior bleaching is needed. The reason I used conditioner was to dilute it so it wouldn't be as thick. The more conditioner you use the lighter the color becomes as well. (AKA pastel colors)

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    If you want a bright/vibrant blue, yes. Most definitely.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    For this color it was just to make the dye less thick and chunky. Other times I do it is so it will change the color. The more you put in, the lighter the color. (That's also how people get pastel colors) :) You don't have to put it in. Having the color by itself can make it more vibrant or dark.

  • @LibertineDeSade
    @LibertineDeSade Před 11 lety

    I love this. I have braids the same color blue but I've been really wanting to dye my own hair this color for a while now. After seeing this, I'm going to have to go for it!!

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    No, it doesn't rinse out all the way. This blue dye is actually really strong. It didn't fade from mine at all. Also, if your hair is brown, the blue wont be as vibrant. You'd need to bleach it first for it to get like mine.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    I'm sure it would! Maybe even a turquoise blue too.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    You can use the dye over your natural color, it just wont be as vibrant. If it's brown, it will come out a dark dark blue/brown. (It may look funky after a while of fading though) If your hair is black it will most likely just shimmer blue in the sun and that's all.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    You don't use developer with semi-permanents. They would just bleach the color. I used conditioner to dilute the color and to make it a smoother texture easier for applying.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety +1

    Nope, I was talking about how my hair goes from dark blue to light blue tips, not referring to my previous color.

  • @enigmasky1680
    @enigmasky1680 Před 11 lety

    blue dye has yellow and other color in it therefore the "blue" pigment washes out but the yellows and greens "grabs" the cutical of the hair and doesnt wash out like the rest of the dye so it goes green. the foil keeps it moist and helps process the dye or bleach.

  • @maskofmagnaminty

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    If you mean how long you should wait to do the color, you don't have to. Semi-permanents don't damage. If you mean bleaching it all depends on your hair and how much damage you are willing to deal with.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    Colors like this are vegan dyes usually made from vegetables and other such things. They are actually good for your hair, no damage whatsoever.

  • @elliejayden9840
    @elliejayden9840 Před 11 lety

    I used developer with the bright red hair I have now Ion color brights (red) and it came out a lot brighter and didn't mess up my hair at all. The people at salons with also tell you to use a developer with a semi permanent since it doesn't stay in as long as demi or permanent

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    This dye actually doesn't fade at all. Well it does, but it takes forever. Really I just watched how often I washed it. That's about it.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 12 lety

    I'm sure it will, you just have too remember that the blue will come out different. The darker the hair the darker the blue, and it may fade diffretly, but this blue doesn't seem to fade as much at alll. If you do it, I ould let it sit for about 2 hours before rinsing.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    It's sooooo amazing. Well at least the blue and the fuschia is. The blue doesn't fade at alll. Especially if you use it dark like this video. The fuschia does fade, but its to a really pretty baby pink. I haven't tried the other colors though.

  • @LinzMushel

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    I don't really know how long it lasts because I didn't keep it too long and I kept reapplying the manic panic vampire red. I didn't mix the revlon and the ion. I dyed my hair with the revlon first, then later I mixed the Ion with the manic panic. They are both semi-permanents so they mixed fine together.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    They usually just use foil for dyes that need to be heat processed. The only reason I used foil on my ends here was to keep things from getting messy. I could have used heat on them to make the bleach work better.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    Thanks! I don't really do anything to help with damage. It got really bad after changing it so many times. Honestly I just barely wash it and am very gentle with it is all.

  • @LinzMushel

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    It doesn't stain too bad as long as you get it off asap. Splat hair dyes don't really last at all. It didn't change this dye. Ion blue lasts forever. It didn't fade at all for me except get a bit greenish at the roots, but barely..

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    The Splat was just some leftover dye I had from months and months ago, so I had no bleach. It's perfectly ok to mix semi-permanents:P This blue lasts foreeevveerrrrr. Definitely do not use it unless you plan to keep it or damage your hair like crazy to remove it.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    It will probably come out the same blue at first, but it may fade sort of greenish because of the yellow. (If you use this dye though, you probably wont have much of an issue. Only this blue, I mean.)

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    Well if you use Ion honestly it doesn't come out at all. I actually was really frustrated that it didn't fade haha, but if it's a different dye you could just wash it as little as possible or only focus on your roots. Use a dry shampoo so you don't have to wash it as much, and put some dye into your conditioner. Other than that I don't know of anything else.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    Semi-permanents don't get darker the longer you leave them, leaving it longer will just help it last longer. I left this for probably two hours. It was a while ago:P

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    No, semi-permanent dyes don't need developer. People use it to dilute the dyes to make them lighter (like pastel colors) or, like in this video, I used it to make the dye less thick and easier to use. haha I get this question so often it's hilarious.

  • @chanelarabatlian5397

    Looks amazing better than before

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    You will definitely have to bleach it. Probably twice to get it to a nice yellow, then use a toning shampoo/conditioner to tone out the yellow as much as possible, Then you can go for the blue dye! If you've never bleached your hair or don't think your hair can handle it definitely talk to a professional first. I didn't because I know my hair is strong and I didn't mind the damage. It WILL damage it. No matter what.

  • @LinzMushel
    @LinzMushel  Před 11 lety

    I used to straighten my hair everyday so it was so damaged it wouldn't curl naturally anymore. I didn't know what to do with it and honestly I was bored and felt like doing something drastic, so I shaved it off. I grew it back without doing any damge but I got bored again and went with the colors:P

    What do you mean a blue purple fade? Like you hair is blue at the top and fades into purple? If so, if you use this dye I suggest dying just the top blue and washing it down to make the rest a light blue, then dying the bottom purple. Watch my "dying my hair blue gradient" video to see what I'm talking about. Instead of leaving the bottom white, dye it purple. Sorry if this isn't helpful haha:P
