Sound Design - Deep Reese Bass Tutorial

  • In this video, I show you how to create a deep, thick Reese bass which will set a powerful foundation for your track. This versatile patch can go from clean and deep all the way to growling and bright. I'll show you how to make it and fine-tune it in this sound design tutorial.
    When designing basses, it is helpful to listen on Headphones and Studio Monitors as this will give you a more accurate understanding of the tone and texture of the sound.

    I feel like lately the trend is LOTS of stereo bass info that would never translate in a club system, maybe because no one is going to clubs anymore and it's better to just give people great headphone/car listening experiences. mono compatibility is becoming increasingly irrelevant, only stores and bad phones don't have stereo systems

    • @sixthfloormemories1566
      @sixthfloormemories1566 Pƙed 4 lety +19

      I think it also has to do with a misconception on what 'keep the bass mono' is meant for. It's a good idea to keep frequencies in the low end mono (and controlled!) in that sense because that doesn't translate well anyway (you don't really perceive sub bass for example as very directional). But that's not the same as keeping all bass instruments full frequency in mono. A bit of wideness in the lower mids of bass synths and such sounds great!

    • @LEILIhousemusic
      @LEILIhousemusic Pƙed 4 lety +5

      You should still care a bit for mono compatibility. Many people own bluetooth speakers that play music in mono.

    • @Penthox

      Cant you just fix that by having club systems force the bass into mono?

    • @tbone2646
      @tbone2646 Pƙed 3 lety

      I always thought the reason for mono bass was to do with vinyl pressing being physically incompatible with stereo bass? Most club systems run mono anyway asfak

    I've been following this channel for a while already, but these synth sound design vids are my favorite thing you've done. I'm trying to incorporate more synths into my songs (indie rock I'd say) and while I often have the sound I want in my head, I can't always get it with my synth. This really helps me to understand the instrument more and more.
