Brilliant to hear Julian talk first hand about his time spent at the prison as an officer. His passion shone through. Will definitely be looking into going on the 2hour plus tour.

yeah it was getting quite annoying i was interested in hearing his stories but she kept butting in and asking to see the cells like give the man a chance

c wing was also 2 man to a cell in most cases cause of over crowding and piss pots were still in use hence why the call doors were on a code lock landing one was for nonce.s on one side and basic on the other side

The entire condemned suite was demolished many years ago - around1979 I believe.It was at the very end of B Wing. Any ex-prison officer who served there and is still around today, may have seen the condemned cells, but would never have seen the execution room or been there for the last execution.So, while Julian could tell you where it was, he only learnt it from stories passed on.

I was kicked out of open prison and spent the last 3 weeks of my sentence in 2003 ??!!!in Gloucester jail???

Interesting video. I do think it was good idea to have it open to public specially schools visits. It would be good for the officer to highlight the issues it had with inmate's.

God knows how many times he said 900 meals a day..... I lost count but right from the beginning of the video. It sounds of things he had a issue with the inmate's getting fead!!!

What was the reason for shut down? Don't England n Wales need prisons. If it shut down for security risk surley they could use for low risk inmate's those who are ready for relise
They was due to open super prison that would hold 1500 inmates
It was closed due to poor conditions..overcrowding and dining..I visited it a few times on visits to my brother who spent many a time in there
I spent over half my life roaming the landings at hmp glos . Staff were brilliant but the prison its self... shit hole.... saying that my local Bristol prison is the same they never change . There's a old saying in jail .

Like I said I was in there a long long time ago short sentence noisy to fuck echoes like anything but better and ever Prisons been out of trouble ever since seen it didn't like it you miss your freedom like you say yes you get everything you get TVs you get trainers you get your computers you get your kettle you get your toaster but it's not the same is it but it's really easy for them to take it off you

Was any one in ther at same time as the staff found out it was shutting down I was on cwing with a lad called fletcher I was one of the last 100 inmates to be shipped from ther when it shut... But if you was on a wing or c wing in last few weeks be for it shut message me and let me know as they put us all on to b wing and shut off c wing after we smashed it up 😂
