- An epic solar storm may be heading our way, one so big it could knock out power grids, damage satellites, cause internet blackouts, and essentially take down our modern life as we know it. After decades of low activity, researchers say that we are entering what is expected to be an active 11-year cycle for solar storms.
And a severe event could impact the way we live our digital lives, leaving us disconnected for weeks or even months.
As Laura Casella reports for The New Reality, we are more vulnerable to these storms in Canada than in other parts of the world.

They aren't, massive solar flares happen every 80-100 years. The last one happened in 1850s and it wrecked havock on all the telegraph infrastructure back then. We are way overdue for a massive solar flare and if it happens now, the internet and electrical grids will be useless.

All we have today for warning is when they see it happen, which gives us about a 3 day warning from when we pick up the xray flash here from earth orbiting satellites to when the plasma stream sent out from the sun hits us. Problem with that is if the flare is strong enough we could get knocked out by the xray blast that is moving at near the speed of light days before the plasma from the cme hits us, which then we would have very little to no warning

You really need to research what nasa has regarding the sun's activity, it's constantly being observed, hence there knowledge on solar activity, ie CME outputs , polar shifts,solar winds, flares,

one of the scariest movies i ever saw was a cheap TV movie from many yrs ago. Everything got hitched up to computers, and then a big solar flare knocked all the power out. No aliens, no mass murderers....just ppl struggling to survive with no computers, no electricity. The worst was the hospital trying to keep ppl alive while they used flashlights...and that's about all.

We do not control the Sun. What modern science/politics fails to teach us is how much influence our Sun has on this planet. The Sun is cyclical and these cycles control our climate. The Sun also produces a micro-nova every ~12036 years which results in biblical disasters.

It's good for the public to be aware of this since if nothing was done to prepare it could take out a bunch of transformer stations that would take years to repair. On the other hand, with good space observation and technology in the worst case scenario a temporary powering down of the grid might suffice to protect it from overloading.
Thankfully, and finally I need to add, that this solar storm will not only bring pretty lights! The impacts can be severe & most people are not aware.

The actual government site doesn’t have a single REAL picture of the earth. They can’t even guarantee the earth is round. Facts, we know less then 20% of what’s under our own oceans. Never mind space. No, but the magnetic poles are moving faster then usual towards each other which is weakening our magnetosphere. That will allow more of those charged particles to impact Earth and cause more damage.
A recent weaker CME hit Earth and revealed that our magnetosphere has lost way more strength then we estimated.

Power went out for a bit today. Not just the Wi-Fi router going down but the electricity went out too. First time I'm experiencing or at least aware it happened. Kind of freaky but it didn't last long.

Although it's good to be in informed was this report really timed well. I mean the collective wellbeing being challenging right now with all the he things going on right now and the things to fear. Sometimes it's good to break up the worry inducing news with something positive for the collective good. Im tuning out the news today to get a break from the worries of the world. I would guess that other than our technology failing you wouldn't even notice that a coronal mass ejection had hit the planet. If you are truly concerned look up the numbers for the magnetic field strength of an MRI and compare them to the strength of the earths magnetic field. If it would be safe for you to have your brain scanned by an MRI machine a coronal mass ejection will be a cake walk.
I started paying attention to the sun about a year ago and have noticed that when a flare happens any "problems" I have are exacerbated. The last one started as a migraine and my knee was in pain for a few days. It is said to affect everyone differently and if you already suffer from seizures than it wouldn't hurt just to watch the sun and see if there is any correlation as it is "waking up" and flaring will be more frequent. The channel I watch is Suspicious Observers. It is run by a citizen scientist (used to be a lawyer) and he uploads every morning a quick 5 minute science news including flare info.
Yes, solar eruptions have a direct effect on human health. We are all electrical beings. Be on the lookout for reports of mysterious increases in heart attacks around the globe. Sure, the jab is doing its part but the Sun is the main driver. Did you know our magnetoshpere is getting weaker because our magnetic poles are racing toward each other?
