This is the peak of human experience- to be an artistic legend, and work with another artistic legend, on your joint childhood dream: and WILDLY succeed. One can only smile and feel deep joy.
❤🎉
Cannot agree more 🥰
I actually got chills reading this comment... well said
This is one of the most fun interviews I’ve heard in a long time. Allowing two masters in their craft to have fun answering questions, playing off each other, with the interviewer asking just enough to propel the conversation without inserting herself into the conversation and barely steering it… honestly I watched three masters at their crafts. Bravo
Thank you so much Seth, really appreciate you saying this. I LOVED doing it and love making the podcast. Have a great day x
Relax
The interviewer deserves credit for masterfully conducting this interview unlike many popular show hosts.
Excellent interview. They're such besties.
I 100% agree! what amazing warmth created and sustained. I literally came on here to say exactly this!
amazing interview
the most interesting thing said here I think is from Hans at 18:20, "the book relies on inner dialogue...which is totally un-cinematic." but what's interesting is that while movies are missing this, books also do not have music. Hans essentially using the soundtrack to provide the inner dialogue, guiding the audience through the emotion we're supposed to be feeling at any given time. brilliant way to transcend this missing inner dialogue aspect to the screen while maintaining the epicness and allowing the audience to feel like they have to understand/feel it without blatant being instructed.
Yes this is a huge point! And it shows they care about the depth of the text!
I am so thankful to live in a world where these two legends exist.
Ditto! So grateful to interview these amazing creatives! x
Just two nerd buddies being happy about doing their favourite nerdy things together. God, I love those people
That scene where Paul rides the worm for the first time, and his knee rises to full standing… chef’s kiss. It’s the perfect marriage of visuals and sound ❤
The Cinematographer, Grieg Fraser, says that shot is his favorite and that it brings a tear to his eye, every time he sees it, because of Hans’ score.
I hope Denis, Hans and Greig make many more movies together.
I knew Nolan and Zimmer combination is always legendary but I didn't know Villeneuve and Zimmer combination would be equal to that. Just saw Dune 2 on March 3rd and I have to express my loads of respect and gratitude for them. One of the magnus opus of Hollywood released in recent years.
Pretty special isn’t it. Just wait for the 3rd Installment x
I think Hans with Nolan was great in interstellar, but his work with Denis makes me think it could be even greater than that.
Music in Dune 2 is extraordinary. I feel this is the best work from Hans better than Dune part 1 which he won an Oscar. Literally there was background score through out the whole movie in Dune Part 2.
Its superior in every way
I love to see a French Canadian and a German, being at the top of their game making and scoring a Giant Hollywood movie, I love the inclusiveness allowed here.
Denis is so adorable. A gift to the world.
I LOVE chatting to him. He is wonderful x
Looks like a great man@@soundtrackingextrawithedith
This partnership is going to be the new Spielberg/Williams partnership 🙌
I heard a quote that "true art requires vulnerability, you have to put something of your inner life into the piece" and all of Denis' films feel like they align with that. Hans' score in this film DEFINITELY feels like this.
@ianwhelan-miller90 That's how Joni Mitchell did everything.
They're on the top of their league, yet both of them are so humble. I constantly smiled during the interview.
So glad you smiled throughout, so did we! Incredible to interview and to be be able to listen and hear them speak so excitedly ... We will have plenty more insights from this pair, watch this space! xx
@@soundtrackingextrawithedith Can't wait! Until then I'm doing round 3 of Dune Part 2 in IMAX.
Ive never seen such a fun, relaxed interview of movie heavyweights!!
👏
THANK YOU. I love my job and these two were like kids excited about their new birthday present. Appreciate you getting in touch x
Thank you for this awesome interview!
For those wondering, we can hear Denis say : “tsé” a couple times. It’s french canadian slang for : “you know”
haha! he says often 'tsé' and 'ben', while he's searching what to say in english from french...
the interviewer is just fantastic. Her ability to elaborate on what they're saying and probe deeper is excellent. So much better than the people who just ask memorized question after memorized question and barely pay attention to the answers given.
Thank you so so much. I love what I do and your comments mean a lot. Thank you x
Wow. What a great interview! Original, focused. Not bloated with useless trivia or questions that are asked and answered in other 30 interviews. Congratulations!
Perfect
This is one of the best Dune pt 2 interviews out there fantastic job just being able to hear these two geniuses express their passion for this film.
WOW. Thank you so much. I loved doing it. Really appreciate you getting in touch xxxxx
The fact that they dropped in the electric guitar theme when Paul rides the worm as a tribute to Lynch's Dune. Brilliant!
Such a fantastic interview. Much credit to the interviewer. She did such a great job being a fan, and asking intelligent questions that allowed them to express their passion for this project. Well done to her, and to them as well obviously. 👏
Edith is great as genuine as they come. She happens to be a long in the tooth & well established broadcaster/DJ for the BBC & more in the UK, this is def her wheelhouse.
Judging by the quality of this interview alone, this channel should have 1000x the amount of subscribers. Well done!
Thanks so much, please subscribe and share with family and friends! Always excited to share incredible creative content with others!
Ah thanks. Help make that happen will you x x x x
This movie is an epitome of visual, directional and musical genius. It's extremely rare for such epic movies to feel this intimate because the details get lost on the scope. Not with Denis. He is like a hawk who makes sure none of the details go missing. And man, Hans. When has he ever not delivered? This score will be one of the most talked about in the generations to come. It has been a privilege to watch cinema of this calibre. What a time to be alive!
they’re geeking and i absolutely love them for it 😭🫶
It was such a pleasure to see them so excited! thanks so much for watching!
My favourite part of the interview is Denis going Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely. Of course, of course, of course. 😂
Incredible interview!
I bought tickets to see part two before realizing my son hadn't seen part one - he fell asleep. 😅 So, on the way home from school and on to the theater he watched part one on my phone so he would be totally ready for part two. He loved them! 😍 He's 15, so I wasn't sure if he would be as excited as I was or my mom was, having grown up with Dune all our lives, but he was and loved it so much. We talked about it the whole way home and for a week after. Thanks, mom, for introducing it to me and making it such a special part of my life. And now I get to share it with my kids and make it a part of theirs. 🖤 And of course, thanks to Denis and Hans for bringing it back into the spotlight and creating such a masterpiece for countless more generations to fall in love with! Can't wait for Messiah and Children of Dune, after a longggg break for cast and crew, of course. 😅🖤🖤🖤
Masterpieces by Masters of their craft. Amazing 🙌
Phenomenal isn’t it x
The score for Dune 2 was EPIC.
Pre ordered the vinyl :)
The trailer 3 soundtrack is one of the most poignant score I think I have ever heard for a movie. Truly brilliant.
So good isn’t it
What a delight to watch these two artist experts in their lane, share their spaces to collab, amazing
Its like they are sat in a restaurant retelling old stories ❤
They are like two boys having fun creating and experimenting stuff together, but yet came out with a master piece that shook the world..!!
This interview is gold. The interviewer is brilliant, all her questions are short and on point ❤️❤️👍👍
This was one of the best interview I have ever seen, well done.
Thank you so very much xxxxx
What a pleasure of having Denis bring back these sci-fi masterpieces to life. Blade Runner and Dune
Wonderful questions asked, and so respectfully. Two geniuses in their respective fields sitting across from you would have intimidated most people. Well done.
Thank you so much. I loved doing it so much. making my podcast is my absolute favourite thing. tell you friends and make sure you subscribe x
I love how often they bring up the love theme, because it truly is beautiful and so fitting for the complicated nature of Paul and Chani’s story.
What a great interview, congratulations! They both looked super confortable and really willing to share with us how the creative process brought them to that extraordinary final result. Timeless masterpiece, no doubt!
Our Pleasure, so glad that you liked it! Subscribe and Like for more!
You caught these guys at a great time. Not sure if Mayo was first? Anyway, great natural conversation and great to see them so enthused. It’s full of gems
We think so too!
The music is just mind-blowing sometimes in this incredible movie
The Paul Chani music has opened something up in me since I saw the film for the first time on the 1st of March itself. And then again when I saw it day before yesterday. It’s just opened something up in me. Thank you for it.
Agreed.....saw part 2 for the 1st time today and I cried at the ending song well into the end credits.
I'd love to see Dune's editing timeline. I'm sure you can see the rhythm it shows on screen. What an AMAZING film. Villeneuve and all his crew are incredible artists and this part was just completely surprising. I still can't believe it.
Thanks so much for your comments, we really appreciate it! Amazing opportunity to speak to our community. Glad that you loved Dune and our interview! x
Ahhh this interview was invigorating. The child like spirit in their art 🥹
Thank you so much x
This has got to be one of the greatest interviews I’ve ever seen. Massive congratulations Edith. Been a follower of yours since the glory days of Radio 1. To see you doing an interview with one of my biggest inspirations as far as music goes and perhaps, my second biggest love which is cinema. I applaud you!!!!
It looks great because it's sounds great! Love that
Brilliant interview! It says a lot about interviewer when the people they're talking to feel so comfortable to be themselves for half an hour. It was a great conversation to listen to, thanks for this!
Thank you so much. I loved doing this interview so much x
These questions were fantastic and the conversation felt so natural. One of the coolest interviews to watch not just for the two titans of industry but for the way you carried it out. Wonderful.
great interview! the soundtrack was sooo slick, and as Hans rightly says at the start, the sound mix of the movie is too good, cant wait to hear the dolby-atmos version!
Me too x x x x
The best interview I have seen regarding Dune 2. Wonderful energy, good questions and very well prepared with great knowledge about the movie crew and the book. Kudos to you. Hans and Denis rocked it today with their wonderful stories.
They seem to have such a great complicity
Felt very honoured to be able to spend time with them together xxxx
@@soundtrackingextrawithedith You shared this honor with all of us. Thank you kindly. You're interview was so warm that they let there soul express them self. Bravo
There's a reason why these two are the absolute best at what they do. Just listen to them talk about their craft and their colleagues. This is passion, this is is respect, this is love. Awesome interview!
Honestly best interview on dune I’ve ever seen you are an insane interviewer
subscribed
Seeing them together... and the obvious fondness they have for each other.. I feel we have a couple of decade of these two working together potentially.. and I'm here for it...
Brilliant interview, loved it.
Thank you so very much xxxx
This is what you get when the best of the best are fans of the source material. I think this was my favorite movie I have ever seen in a theatre. I have never left a theatre that awestruck before Dune 2.
It’s a creative, excited, inspiration-feedback loop between two master with mutual respect and admiration for eachother.
Excellent work affording them the space to share their passion.
How are you have only 2000 subs? Watching this interview I thought it's a big channel with a 1 mil subs.I really wish you success and to grow in to one of the biggest channels out there. Fantastic work!
We hope so too over here at Soundtracking
Thank you! this was a delightful interview that takes my enjoyment of to another level. These Dune movies are masterpieces.
What a wonderful interview... probably the best film-maker with probably the best film-composer... together, loving life and loving their art. Amazingly inspiring.
I love that they are giants and humble, the art of true collaboration, a fantastic movie in every aspect
Denis and Ham are the gift of our age! Like when the first BladeRunner came out! Looking forward to the third dune movie and the next thing these two come up with!
How does this not have more views? Interview was wonderful! Asking great questions, allowing them to chat amongst themselves, all the while letting them know how much of a fan you are! Honestly, I'd love to have a few drinks with these three lol. There is a scene where Paul is walking with the sandworm behind him, with a sort of haunting/epic soundtrack, really showcasing how he's kind of crossing over to that darker side, that just gives me chills. There are SO many scenes I could nerd out over. Chalomet and Butler KILLED their rolls. Absolute masterpiece in my opinion.
Pure joy and love here ❤
Since I have been watching Dune part two;
why I’m still stuck in Dune & everyday thinking about it, especially part two .
what a charming mix of accents between these 3. and the audio sounds fantastic.
Thank you so much, really loved speaking with them 🩷
I love how Hans just sighs in disbelief once before he starts to answer, like he’s prepping himself to translate experience into words😊
Did you love the film? I love how childlike they are about this collaboration
@@soundtrackingextrawithedith True, and their childlike enthusiasm is infectious.
I just watched it for the second time in IMAX yesterday. Appreciated it even more than the first viewing as I stopped caring about dialogue. It was just Denis’s visual poetry to Hans’s dreamy, amazing score. Pure bliss.
Hans popped off for these films, one of the most unique & deep scores I've heard
This is the best interview of these two that I’ve seen! And I’ve seen a lot!!
I could go on for another 30 min on this interview
Great stories!
One of the best movies I've seen I. My entire life.
Ah, these two geniuses, so authentic and so normal at the same time… thank you for this🙏🙏
That's how you interview. She should interview everyone. You can see how comfortable they are with her and that allows them to have fun. Wonderful stuff
I just found this interview, and it's the best one I've seen yet! I've been learning about sound design for my film, and this video really helped me understand how experts work together and expressed their vulnerable side (which they don't do). A really well done interview
So glad it was so helpful, can't wait for you to continue to listening in! Thanks so much for watching!
Music elevated the importance of scenes. Phenomenal direction, cinematography and music. Superb experience
We are so lucky that such talented people work together on a project they really love and respect. Amazing job, can't wait for the next 5 volumes!
Many film scorers owe a huge debt of gratitude to Peter Gabriel, who in 1988 was the first to prominently use the Armenian Duduk for his soundtrack score to Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ.
He popularized "World Music".
What a beautiful dynamic these two have.
Excellent execution with the interview. Thank you for sharing this. 🫶
Thank you for listening 🩷
Great interview and it was great to see an interviewer with authentic enthusiasm for the film! Saw it a couple of nights ago and it blew my mind! Dune is yet another masterpiece from who is IMO the best director working today. Denis is an absolute genius! It's so awesome to hear them both interviewed together and you can clearly tell they have genuine passion for it.
Hans Zimmer also delivers yet again with another incredible score and has got me pumped to see one of his live shows for a 4th time hopefully soon.
Thank you so much, appreciate all the love
An absolutely beautiful interview! Thank you!
Thank you so much x
Loved the interview! Excellent job conducting it! 🎉🎉🎉
So glad you enjoyed it!!! Can't wait for you to keep watching upcoming interviews x
loved this interview...!!!!
Thank you so much xxx
Bagpipes! Glad you mentioned them. Too bad they didn’t use them in the second movie. I really thought the bagpipes were going to sound when Gurney fights Rabban. You can in fact hear the first note, but only the first note. 😢
What an amazing interview!!! They were totally relaxed and speaking from the heart.
FANTASTIC interview! Love to listen to DV and HZ’s answers and the interviewer did a phenomenal job, one of the best I’ve seen for the Dune cast,-crew, so thank you!
Our pleasure! Honestly we love being able to have such candid interviews over here at Soundtracking, blessed to interview amazing creatives like Hans and Denis! Appreciate the love, and looking forward to continuing to deliver amazing content to you! 🩷
Two legends skilled at their crafts , what an inspiration
Lovely interview! Excellent job
Thank you so much, very kind of you to message x
Edith bowman! Your voice just took me right back to the MTV chart shows with Cat Deeley and Russell brand etc. good times. I love Dune and this interview was exceptional. This made my day.
I like how instinctivly he says ''tsé'' betwee his sentences. For a french canadian thats like saying ''ya know''
Yeah, Denis is like GSP. Absolute beast in their respective field, but their english is so damn funny and you see all the québécisme flowimg through
Fantastic interview and insightful questions! Could have watched another hour!! I can feel the passion flying around!!!
this interviewer is great she's intelligent and lets them talk and it's fantastic to listem to them.
"WERE THE SPACESHIPS NOT REAL!" What a pair these two make! I was laughing quite a bit watching this they were so funny!
Dune Part 2 was truly so good that coming out of the theater it felt like my atoms were energized. I saw it twice in Imax and it was just so incredible. My favorite quote in this was from Hans where he said that this is a huge Hollywood movie and yet Denis "makes it feel personal" and I really think that nailed it on the head. I could see the money on the screen and could hear the money in my ears but I truly felt the passion behind this movie from everyone involved.
You are such a talented interviewer! Such refreshing questions and I can tell you truly care about the craft! Definitely subscribing after this!
We really do CARE so much about the craft and getting the best interviews from our favourite creatives ... such a silly pair and so lovely to see them having so much fun together on a press tour! Feel blessed to interview them and see their passion like you said! So glad you've subscribed, APPRECIATE THE LOVE! Can't wait for you to see what we have in store in the next few weeks ... LOOK OUT! xxx
Great interview. You were able to reach them on a emotional level, good job
This interview is GREAT to geek out on after watching the film. such geniuses
The score of Dune is breathtaking and haunting just like the late great Vangelis’ work
It’s exceptional isn’t it? X
This was so amazing to watch!!! I’m in the corporate world, and have to do networking coffee chats and calls all the time, but you created an amazing atmosphere, and the questions were fantastic as well! I’ve gotta say, the bagpipes section was my favorite 😂
This was so adorable
Best original film score I’ve ever heard, sooooo powerful
This is the best interview of these two!
Such a beautiful interview 🔆✨✨
Insane jealousy towards those yet to see this piece of art ! ❤
Great interview! Felt very personal, they both seemed quite at ease
Awesome and instructive Interview!
Much appreciated! Thanks so much x
This interview featured skillfully crafted questions and maintained a tranquil relaxing atmosphere. Excellent job on creating such a delightful experience.
Thank you so much, amazing to hear! Keep tuned for more x
having this view into their inner collaboration is a gift. As is that extraordinary pair of movies they have collaborated on. Just saw D2 in full Imax and Dolby last night, so I know.
