Have you been asleep the last 10 years? Free agency is one of those things 27 million per year will look small in 3-4 years compared to other contracts. And this contract puts the giants at like 60 million next year in salary? 35 million the year after. Giants have soooooooooo much money to spend. Check their payroll the next 5 years.

Why are people hating on this guy? Based on Baseball Reference, his JAWS rating makes him the 35th best SS ever. Recently signed FA SS, Xander Bogaerts, is the 56th best, having played 9 yrs versus only 7 yrs for Correa.
The only difference with why he’s been signing so late the past 2 seasons is that he’s trying to get the biggest paycheck possible. He’s been open about it too, which I respect. It certainly puts the brakes on teams looking for SS though.

I mean he got called up in June of ‘15 and ‘20 was the Covid season. So really he’s been healthy for 5/8 years. Last year he played in 136 games or 83.9% of the season, I think that’s just healthy enough to say he played a full season
The same with Turner, has played 2 full seasons since 2015. C. Seager has come 1 since 2015. So, what is the argument now.

Compare his numbers to real all star players. They don’t even come close. He has had one season where he finished in the top 15 for AL MVP. Only 1 year in his 7 year career was he even a top 30 position player for a full season.

Congratulations! Giants got an injury prone shortstop who’s never cracked 30 HR, never cracked 100 RBI, in 8 years has averaged only 110 games a season, the one and only WS chip he has was due mostly to the rest of the ALL STARS surrounding him in Houston…all for 350 million
