    Correa's talk with Pena in the hallway after the WS was like he knew he wasn't coming back.

      It’s crazy, the narrative some these so called Astros fans say Carlos is jealous. Nah, he’s a class act. I’m happy and excited with Peña but also very appreciative with what Carlos has done. And will always wish him the best!

    Correa was always seen as a class act by the Astros fans, and helping his replacement be better prepared was the ultimate example of that. He is still well-loved by many Astros fans despite having left via free agency.

    I got so much more respect for Correa after hearing this. Ngl, it pained me so much to see him behind the desk wearing a suit while the Stros were on the field in the WS. Even if he ends up playing in NY or LA, he will forever be an Astro. Love that guy.

    • @woodnutz78
      @woodnutz78 Před rokem +2

      @GTFOH - agree 100%. As a relocated Astros fan watching from afar, I've always been a big fan of Carlos's play on the field (like everyone else). As I live relatively close to Baltimore now, I was able to get some reeealy good tickets to the Astros & Orioles on 6/23/21. Second row, behind the Astros' dugout. Before the game started, quite a few Astros were signing autographs and taking pictures - very cool. Then there was Carlos... in the numerous games I've been to, I haven't ever seen a player do what he did. He probably spent 15 minutes at the far end of the dugout interacting with fans. Talking to them, taking pictures and of course, signing autographs. He would spot people taking pictures 10-15 rows up and call them down to take a selfie with them. Truly amazing fan interaction. I'm so impressed by his character and the appreciation he has for the fans. It was definitely sad to see him leave Houston, but the way he carries himself is truly first class.

Correa honestly will always be an Astro and the way he taught and brought up Peña in the league, shows that Correa is selfless. But Peña also did his part to put in work and be a student of the game. Peñas talent is great but Correa showed him the ropes of the business and gave him knowledge. Correa will forever be an Astro. Peña is the future of the Astros. Plus Correa is always trying to school players in the league and get them paid.

    This is the difference between a team player and just a player on a team. Correa took Pena under his wing and mentored him knowing of the possibility of leaving the Astros. Then you have Verlander, knowing the possibility of leaving and knowing Hunter Brown admired him and consider him his childhood idol, probably never considered mentoring Brown. Verlander is a great pitcher and I'm thankful for his contribution all these years but I don't consider him a true team player. The entire year he was recovering from surgery, he never traveled with the team nor was he a presence at the home games in the dugout. That showed me his true colors so I wasn't surprised Verlander would pursue money and continue to be just a player on another team.

    The City of San Francisco is facing some of the most serious financial problems in the entire country. 100s of 1000s of its citizens are homeless & sleeping in the streets/cars. Many of the homeless victims work 40 hours, but cannot afford the high San Francisco rents. When I see news reports of San Francisco (& the Bay Area in general) , I see desperate communities trying to stay alive in the face of economic ruin & devastation. Now enter a minority nationality sports figure of limited skills , but armed with some of the best negotiations' agents this side of Wall Street. A $350 dollar contract is signed. What does that have to do with the economic plight of San Francisco ? You tell me. All that I have to say is that Correa better have some very adequate personal security at his side. Moreover, the San Francisco press is going to scrutinize his personal/professional life even to the smallest detail. I don't think that Correa is going to be too happy about this. But after all he is sitting on a $350 million dollar contract in the middle of a serious economic depression. I say no more. Draw your own conclusions.

    Huge Astros fan but Correa made a huge huge mistake. Even before the last contract offer when Carlos hit FA, the Astros offered Correa constantly great contracts throughout his years prior to his FA.
    Carlos Correa just made a big big mistake and ends up looking very greedy and shallow. I know all MLB players will go get the top money but it’s not like the Astros never offered him more than fair offers even prior to his FA year.
    If I’m Carlos I’m firing my agent in Boras. Boras completely screwed Carlos.
