My father put my kids on the season ticket list for Lambeau when they were born - they are 20 and 16 now. Each year I get postcards for each kid stating where they stand on the list. It's been 20 years for my son, and there are still over 20,000 people ahead of him. Many families pass their season tickets down through generations so there are only so many that become available each year.

As a former WI resident.. born and raised.. it's required to be a fan (LOL) if you're born in WI. I've been only one time because folks I knew gave me tickets.. but in general it's not a very comfortable place because it's open and hard bench seats.. the nice boxes are of course perfection. Town is so small... but it does feel sacred in some way.

I grew up just south of Green Bay and have been to several games there. My family still lives in the area, but I moved away (with the Army) decades ago. I do go by the stadium and visit pretty much every time I visit, even if there isn't a game. The metal benches are pretty uncomfortable, especially during cold winter games, but a cushioned seat and lots of layers usually helps with that. It's also helps to keep warm when the game is exciting because the adrenaline is pumping, and the energy in the stadium has everyone standing and cheering.

Part of the reason Lambeau Field gives the Packers such a home field advantage is the super cold and snowy atmosphere of Northern Wisconsin in the winter months. Many of the Packers’ opposing teams are from either warm/hot Southern states, or Northern states (like the Minnesota Vikings) where the players are pampered with warm temperatures or at least heated stadiums. They simply aren’t prepared to play in the cold and the ice and the snow, not the way the Packers are. And the cold (and competitive ticket sales) keeps other teams’ fans away too.
There’s also a lot to be said for the Green Bay Packers NOT being owned by some corporation or a billionaire. The Packer Backers are like a million fan co-op. We don’t want (or need) a fancy stadium with all those bells and whistles… because we’ll show up to support our team without them. The Packers don’t have to buy fans’ love.

Lambeau's classic design means there's not a bad seat in the stadium but the tour and HOF are highly recommended especially if you guys want to see the very first Lombardi Trophy. In 1923, the team was on the verge of bankruptcy so the town bought the team and although, the "owners" have no say in team decision it also means no one owner has all the power plus it's a great way to gather capitol if the team needs it to update the stadium.

In case you don't get the joke here with Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin is the #1 state for the manufacturing of cheese, so the fans came to be called cheeseheads. They capitalized on it by wearing the "cheese" hats, and we here in Illinois say when we drive into Wisconsin that we're crossing the Cheddar Curtain, which is a reference to the Cold War days, and the inherent Iron Curtain.

In 1984, the Seahawks retired the number '12' jersey in honor of Seattle’s fans. In 2003, the team debuted its “12th flag” and had 12 original season ticket holders fly it proudly before the opening kickoff. Texas A&M owns the rights to "12th Man". The two teams made a deal in 2006, allowing the Seahawks to use “12th Man” in their stadium for $5,000 a year, but not on any merchandise. The arrangement was extended in 2011 to 2016. In 2016, the Seahawks agreed to a five-year deal in which they’d pay the school $18,000 per year to use the term. They also kick in an extra $10,000 a year to assist Texas A&M in fighting other uses of the trademark. In light of this agreement, Seattle has attempted to curb their usage of the term 12th Man. They’re trying to go more with terms they own, including “12,” “12s” and “We are 12s.”.

The history of Lambeau Field is partly a result of the NFL's longest rivalry between the Packers and the Chicago Bears. The Packers at the time were on the verge of moving to another city because they couldn't get the funding for a new stadium. Then George S. Halas, the owner of the Bears, stepped in. He gave rallies across the state with Curly Lambeau to emphasize how important the Packers were to the state AND help bankroll the front office during the process. To top it all off, Halas told Lambeau "You should talk to a friend of mine, I think he'd make a really good coach. His name is Vince Lombardi (the coach GOAT)" Of course now, it seems more like the Curse of the Bambino for the Bears, but that's a whole other issue...

As an actual shareholder of the Green Bay Packers, I, like most of us, love to be able to claim part ownership of our team. Lambeau Field is truly a must-see for any NFL fan - regardless of what team you support. The best time to go, of course, is during the season to catch a game. The tailgating is absolutely phenomenal - from the food to the friendly fans. You could walk up to almost any tailgate setup at any given home game and you'll be welcomed in and offered a bratwurst or a burger like they've known you for years. Fans are particularly welcoming to visitors from other countries and love to introduce them to our gameday traditions. The Packers are the oldest franchise in the league and have known Lambeau Field as home since 1957. It's seen significant changes/improvements over the years, but it remains as Mecca of the NFL.
As far as the Cheesehead moniker goes, it started as a sort of derogatory name given to us by our friends just to the south (Illinois). The Packers and the Chicago Bears have the longest continuous rivalry in the NFL - dating back to 1921 - and the fans don't particularly like each other (during football season). Given Wisconsin's nickname (America's Dairyland) and the amount of cheese that's produced, it seemed to be a natural and easy "insult." Wisconsinites, however, turned it around and embraced it and happily adopted the nickname.
    Go Pack Go!!

I'm an Alaskan Native, we don't have our NFL team here. The local channels will always have the Seahawks game on. They are closest to AK. Most people get a bit irritated with that because so many people love different teams. My family and I have been Packers fans all our lives. We have jerseys for our cats also. I've only been out of Alaska twice. Once to Hawaii, about 30 years ago. My other half and I went to Arizona last year to visit our son, we saw the Seahawks @ Cardinals! That was so exciting! Our goal is to make it to Lambeau Field some day. Good luck and much fun wishes for your trip to America!

I'm surprised they didn't have the AZ Cardinals stadium (State Farm Stadium) on the list. Up until the newer ones on the list, it was the most high-tech stadium in the country with a field that rolls outside of the stadium. The Cardinals have been playing at the State Farm Stadium since the 2007 season.

@aaron patterson also a great small market team. I'm a big fan of the underdog teams! Both teams have a great story to tell.

As a Cardinals fan that lives in Seattle. The noise in that stadium is no joke. I have never been to a louder place in my life.

I know this is NFL, but if you attend a baseball game here, FENWAY in Boston, Massachusetts is a must if you're all about the atmosphere. I'm not a baseball fan, but I love, love, love being in Fenway. It's amazing!

Before I even start this video, i can assure you my team (Washington) is not on this list. Now if there was a top 5 WORST NFL stadium list, they would likely be on it. Just another reason why I’m glad I moved to Nashville 😂
