      Right, I love the Starbucks we go to twice a month, I have very much respect for the baristas who treat my sister and I with such respect and kindness. We definitely add extras to our drink, and ask for add-ons but not too overboard. Because of this we always make sure to leave a tip, they take such amazing care of us every single time.

I am not saying you can't order a drink with customisations, but be mindful of what's in there, for the workers sake (because they have to make the diabetes contraption) and yours (you know, because you have to actually drink it). In the end, just be mindful of the baristas. You don't have to limit yourself, but if it's unnecessary ingredients then try to narrow it down. It really wouldn't be hard for Starbucks to create a virtual queue for their app that shows a particular stores availability for these custom drinks. If it actually worked well you could even change the in-store items to set items with a few alterations but for more complex drinks you order online and wait until it can be made, kinda like the McDonald's system. I'm not sure if it's different in America but in the UK (at McDonald's) you can order digitally either from your phone or a interactive sign thing and they'll bring your order to you when it's ready or you can order at the desk.

      @sierrafairbanks7776 Před 3 lety +120

      Except that's not how starbucks wants to work. At my starbucks we can get write ups if we simply complain to other employees about complicated drinks. Starbucks wants the mentality to be all about the customer. We are supposed to go above and beyond and be totally excited to do it. So all these customizations are supposed to be no problem. Unfortunately they often are. Not all the time though. It just depends on the time of day, how busy we are, how many people we have on the floor, and how long the lines are. I personally don't mind long complicated orders, by themselves. It's people who are inconsiderate, impatient and entitled that can make things difficult. If you have a complicated order you can't be upset that it took more than a minute to make your drink, and we are already stressed out don't be overly upset and rude because if we make it wrong. And another thing to keep in mind is while you are ordering an order that takes awhile to understand and build, there are people often behind you that get mad that it's taking so long. And those people aren't getting mad at you for ordering a long order, they get mad at us. I just want people to be nice. I think many other would say the same thing.

    • @greybunnie
      @greybunnie Před 3 lety +77

      In America, as a McDonald's employee, these custom orders also appear just as normal drive through orders, and we are expected to make them just as quickly as drive through orders. Idk if you knew, but McDonald's ordering system for online orders is just as stressful as if you went through the drive through to order it. It doesn't matter when you order, it just pops up on the screen as any regular order. I can't tell you how many times I've hade a 26 sandwich order pop up, and my managers expect it to be done within 3 minutes, no matter how busy our drive through is. Let's say you make a sandwich in 30 seconds. That's pretty fast. But if someone orders 26 sandwiches, and you make every single sandwich in 30 seconds, that's still going to take you 13 minutes for the entire order. It's just completely asinine to assume that your order will be done in less than five minutes if you order that much food, regardless of the modifications you make. Let alone the people behind you waiting for their orders to be done quickly as well. How do you expect me to make this super complicated order in such a short amount of time, as well as explain to the people behind you why their order of one McChicken and a soft drink took so long to make??? Don't do this to these poor underpaid employees. I get it if you want a customized order. Order it. But don't do it in the drive through when all you're doing is holding up the line for everyone else. When you leave, that's it. You're done with dealing with this. But after you leave, every customer after you is irritated and berating the employees for taking so long to make their order. None of which that particular customer ever has to see. But these employees have to deal with it a lot longer than they do. Please treat your employees with respect. If you know that your order is going to take a long time, do not do it in the drive through. And be respectful to the employee making it. They're not getting paid enough to deal with this. Why do you think fast food has the absolute worst turnover rate of any industry???

    It's so unnecessary the amount of ingredients that tiktokers put in their drinks, because in the end, it's still sugar. Just ask for extra sugar and call it a day. Or you could just get a normal coffee for caffeine, and go across the street to dairy Queen for your sugar high.

They've got energy drinks, healthy energy drinks, vitamins, drugs (illegal and legal) sodas, and all kinds of other caffeinated beverages out there that cater to the need of energy and have a much better taste. And above all else, a monster energy is like 3 dollars and some change, a small frappacino which is barely any coffee already and only 12 ounces (remember most of it's ice) is over 4 dollars depending which one you get. The problem with things like this is that the people who make these complicated orders have clearly never worked on the other side of the counter. I work in a pub and while we do get vegan or allergen customers (This is standard in the industry. I'm in no way comparing them to these people) you get a lot of people who ask for one meal and try to modify it into another. One of my worst dishes was a salad that had about 10 different components but the customer wanted 5 of them increased in size, swapped for something else or removed. We don't get annoyed that the meal has come through, we get annoyed because it's something we haven't done before and it eats into our time. One complicated meal means that everyone gets their food later than expected, and this delay can last for hours, even into our end of shift clean down which then means we go home late.

    They need a special line for special/ customized items; along with willing crew members (who obviously enjoy that part of the job). They should also truncate the number of specialty items and must make customers aware of at least 10 minutes to complete their order. And pay those baristas taking that part of the gig more, but that should go without saying.

    It makes me upset how terrible customer service reps get treated sometimes. We get lots of amazing customers too but then you always get those rude arrogant and overall mean customers that ruin your mood instantly

    I know his feeling. I worked as part time in my brother burger stall. One day, in busy hour, two man order giant Burger with 8 patties coated with melted mozzarella cheese. It's really stressful especially when you can see long queue of 8 people behind them

    left starbucks and god I don't miss these insane drinks happening constantly. It really would be fine but people 90% of the time didn't tip anything. that's ridiculous, baristas really are not paid enough for your foot long label order and then getting yelled at on top of it.

    the stupidest thing about these drink orders with 36 different ingredients with "double this" and "extra that" is theres just no way they actually taste good at that point. i mean HOW ?? just sounds so yucky to me. AND on TOP of that is they charge you extra for most of it!! so you pay all this extra money for a garbage drink just whyyyyyy

    The fact that a Starbucks secret drink order has hundreds of millions of views really shows me the state of our world and where people’s focus is. Kinda sad

    I know this is very different compared to working at such a well known coffee shop such as Starbucks, but I work at a local smoothie shop in my town and I can testify that it makes me want to scream agony when a customer orders a custom smoothie, ESPECIALLY during rushes. Most of the time, when people order custom smoothies, they are rude, impatient, and tell us we made it wrong even though we were never trained to make that one specific smoothie correct.
