Sam speaks rather well, but nowhere near like a native. You have to have come at a very young age and be immersed in it all the time to learn to sound like a native.
4:02 😋 Blin, I live in FL and in my city there's not a single good cafe where I can buy delicious pastries! Not even in a French cafe that we have. It is either store bought desserts that are laden with additives and preservatives or the French cafe with poor selection and bland tase. Norman Love Confections at WholeFoods is good, but it is minimum 20 min drive to get there. By the way the same at restaurants - they just offer previously frozen desserts bought from wholesale food distributors. Vladimir city seems to have it on every corner and their selection is huge.
I've never had a problem in Russia.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how clean the city is. Most of the restaurants and businesses have modern, tasteful furnishing. The employees are normal Russians. Everyone is friendly and approachable - they don't give you a mean look and keep walking. I don't see anyone passed out drunk or on drugs. No one is hassling you for money.
I checked random places on Google Maps, and it seemed to confirm that impression.
The last time we had that in America was 60+ years ago. Now, you can only find a comparable quality of life in very wealthy neighborhoods or remote tourist towns.
A comparable American city today with a population of 200k-400k is much grimier, with depressing chain restaurants/businesses and many unsavory people milling around. Public transportation is non-existent or dirty and used by mentally unwell people. It's not pleasant to walk, so people will drive even if they're only going a few blocks.
Many people say that Russian values are the same as 50’s America. Thanks for sharing.

I noticed while I was in RU that their car fleet is on average actually pretty good nowadays. It might be a different story if you go far out in the countryside. I like BMWs and if you sift through the market they have a pretty decent selection. I got parts for mine while I was in Moscow. Cheaper than in Germany. Big difference on engine parts and filters etc.
There is a trend now to buy Chinese cars but those who actually live far out in the countryside will generally have more robust Russian cars. The roads get worse.

You're still young to get braces. If you're going to live to 90 you need to preserve all you teeth, its alignment and bite. I had braces at 37. It is not about vanity but preserving your teeth.

Russians usually guess I’m from Germany. They are surprised when I say Australia . I try to blend in but when I open my mouth and speak they hear my appalling Russian :-)

Для русских в основном акценты людей из англоговорящих стран примерно похожи, поэтому сложно точно сказать откуда вы. А еще мне как русскому на слух не сразу удалось уловить ваш британский акцент, Сэм. Потребовалось секунд 10 где-то. И это только когда вы говорите на английском, округление звука [o] в словах типа "anybody" и другие моменты. Я просто привык либо к акценту кокни в сериалах по типу "Это - Англия", RP или как у Эммы Уотсон более современный вариант Contemporary RP, все еще четкий, хотя когда быстро говорит, не успеваю на слух все понимать. А у вас какой акцент? Nottingham?🙂

I must have a very Dutch look.. I have blue eyes, 184 cm, and brown hair... So many times, people guess in foreign countries... It is true that I am Dutch, but I speak perfect, non accent English, so I don't understand how they're guessing so well... I too, can spot the average American in a foreign country.. They probably are overweight, sneakers, baseball cap, and wrap-around sunglasses....

@@SamsRussianAdventures Вы меня не поняли, так вопрос в русском языке не задают (само построение предложения напрягает слух и звучит не привычно для слушателя). Речь шла о грамматике и построении предложения (Если есть русские друзья они вам объяснят, что я имел в виду)
Надо использовать другие глаголы для построения предложения например угадать, предположить (тогда мозг начинает работать в правильную сторону, а то ваш вопрос из видео с таким грамматическим представлением ставит людей в тупик)
