Replacing a Side View Mirror on a Lexus IS250

- The IS250 has a weak side view mirror that is very easy to break. Purchasing an original mirror can be quite costly. We are trying out an aftermarket mirror we purchased from Amazon for $88. I hope it works.

Thanks, this helped me a lot as it was difficult to find a video of the whole assembly replacement. I have an 08 is250, and these instructions transferred over exactly the same even though they are 2 year’s apart. If anyone on here is wondering if this will work for 08 is250, I can happily say (yes it does), only took me 30 minutes. Thanks again! Ps, if you finish and notice your automatic window for drivers side door is not automatically going down. Close all windows, shut the door and hold UP on the driver side door window control for 10 seconds, then let go and it should work.

Tip: When putting the nuts back onto the mirror studs, tape the nuts to the socket. They will start to thread easily and once on the stud, remove the socket. The tape either comes with the socket or you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove it from the nut.
Tip: The door panel is quite heavy and for the IS 250C, there are many connections. You really don't want the panel supported by the wiring harness. The panel only needs to move back about 5 or 6 inches. So make an "S" shaped gizmo out of a piece of 1/8 rod and hang the panel on the door. Use a rag on the door to avoid scratches.

I got scared at first because the door wouldn’t lock and unlock and then it started spazzing out. I just kept going through cycles now it unlocks and locks normally 😂. Great video, glad I finally changed it !!!

Did it today ended up going mechanic for that rest due to not having magnetic tool.
Get prying tools plastic and thin to avoid damage and scratching
Get 10mm magnetic socket tool because you want to catch the nuts without letting them fall and not having to open up too much to do this
Defo buy the door clips mine came off one broke and one got stuck
BEFORE YOU START KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING OPEN THE WINDOWS FULLY DOWN AND DISCONNECT THE CAR BATTERY BECAUSE MY Fuses OR Something ELSE MESSED UP AND NOW MY RADIO AND MIRROR Switches ARE NOT WORKING
Don't worry you don't need anyone there with you to catch the mirror it won't fall off if the screws are off cos it sits at an angle but get help putting the door frame back on and make sure your lock is unlocked fully when connecting door wires on
Be gentle taking that door panel off from bottom right at start
For someone inexperienced an hour should be ok putting the door panel on is tricky

I ran into the same problem with the replacement mirror. The outer screw was bent. How did you bent your back without damaging the Threads or mirror?
I just screwed in the bolts and lightly squeezed them together. Luckily, Chinanasium steel is very soft lol.

It’s a 2007 RWD
The part numbers are different and I believe the connector is different, but same procedure for remove and replace.

My wife has a 2009 IS250 and the side mirror keeps wobbling. When I took the mirror apart there's this spring that you need to compress back onto the shaft. I was able to compress the spring back in but it keeps popping back out after awhile. This has to be one of the dumbest designs I've seen for a car part. The spring can easily come off, even if you just bump into the side mirror it'll come off.

We used aftermarket and it was about 95% the same had no real issues installing

Phillips screw drive, 10mm socket with extention and ratchet, small flathead screw driver to pry off the plastic covers

Hi thanks for video I took out all 4 bolts but door is secure so good didnt want to force it is that normal or is there more bolts I don’t know about

Yes it just pops out, some of those clips will probably stay stuck in the door, be sure and remove them and reinstall on door panel before reinstalling. Hope this was helpful.

You have to be very careful in selecting mirrors. My IS 250C has mirror memory and none of the cheap mirrors offer the memory. While the mirror will physically fit, the electrical connection will not.
are these compatible for 2006 model?
I dont think so, because of the signal light on the mirror, but same process to remove and replace.
what year is your is250? mine is a 2008, do you think I could buy those same side mirros with the lights on the backside to fit my years model?
Looks like 2006 to 2008 are the same and then 2009 to 2013, but I did see the ones for your year on Amazon, procedure should be the same. Thanks for watching.✌

Man, if you can remove the door panel without breaking any clips and getting it back on in one try, you’re a certified bad a*s. If replacing the mirror , do yourself a favor and by the replacement clips for $7
