    I loved Chris in this. We all like to laugh at the health freaks/geeks, but the moment he took a gulp and immediately admitted his mistake makes him better than most of us. It's these things that make me really appreciate his character, even though from the first outset we're supposed to dislike him (as he's banning hamburgers).

    The best part about this scene is everyone loves Chris's burger, it's not one of those health=gross scenes. And then Chris caves immediately when beef tastes better than what everyone admittedly loved. Ron proved his point, Chris accepted defeat, and no one actually crapped all over health food.

It has 4.625 times the amount of sodium (which causes the heart clogging he is mentioning) and the beyond burger is even worst then that by a little. So that would actually be against his reasoning for choosing to go such a route. Also the amount of processing the "meat" has to go through would also be against his beliefs held.

      @@aaronmontgomery2055 Watch any cooking show that isn't oriented to health, and they will show extensive salt being added to ground beef during the cooking process. Impossible and Beyond Meat, need no added salt. They also have a lot less saturated fat, zero dietary cholesterol, and unlike beef, are not carcinogenic. The WHO found that red meat is a type 2A (probable) carcinogen, and processed meat is a type 1 carcinogen, which is the same category as asbestos exposure and smoking tobacco.
      Salt is only a health problem when eaten to excess, and one plant based burger does not exceed that amount.

      I worlds for burger king long while back and I can tell you this the imposible burgers are worse for you because they have to add so much salt and pepper so people wont puke there guts out at the taste the same goes for beyond burgers but they have a little less and both burgers still taste terrible you dont want to know how those burgers are made but heres a little insite they use 70% chemicals 10% almost rotton vegatibles and 10% this weird paste cant remember what it was so yes those burgers are worse for you

    The real genius in this is Chris appealing to Ron's competitive nature via one-upmanship prompting Ron to propose a cookoff thereby flipping his protest into an opportunity to involve other staff and establish a consensus on the commissary menu.       The only reason you buy ground turkey is for cost - it's a lot cheaper - but definitely nowhere near as good. Now I will happily eat oven baked turkey (especially with gravy) a couple of times a year (no deep fried - way too greasy), but other than that give me beef.

      I can't rightly say that I've ever had ground turkey, but roast turkey for christmas with pan juice gravy? Hell to the motherfucking yeah! But that said, I do like a nicely cooked beef scotch fillet steak done medium rare, seasoned with salt and pepper and some garlic, herbs and butter to add some sauce to it.

    I remember seeing a comment from someone who consulted his brother with 20 years of career experience in culinary arts about whether or not a turkey burger could 'beat' a beef burger.
    The answer he got was that if a trained chef did a lot of bells and whistles types of things with the turkey, it would be better than the beef. But the moment the beef burger is given bacon or caramelized onions, the turkey is defeated plain and simple.

    Jokes aside, the reason Ron won was because he grilled it over fire/charcoal. Im also willing to bet he seasoned his patty. You dont need anything but salt and smoke. BBQ burgers are a step above anything over a griddle or pan.

    I love how both of them made a good burger that really shows how they each of them are individually. Ron is a salt of the earth type of person who tells it like it is (a simple beef burger with no added ingredients) while Chris is a kind soul who genuinely cares but is insecure about showing his true self (a turkey burger with top quality ingredients).

    As a vegetarian, this scene is amazing. Veggie burgers always challenge you to get creative with how you flavor them, which can result in some amazing burgers. But there is absolutely no arguing the wonderful flavor of even just plain beef.

    For the 4th of July I went to Smart and Final and bought a few pounds of 80/20 ground beef. Picked up the generic buns and American cheese slices. Kept it simple with lettuce, tomato and pickles as toppings along with ketchup and mustard. Cooked em on my blackstone grill. Everyone in the family went nuts and loved the burgers. People lined up for seconds and thirds. I felt like I did Ron proud that day.

    Red meat does not in fact cause any of those things. Those symptoms can be attributed to the glut of carbohydrates in the average American diet. Turkey doesn't make you sleepy at Thanksgiving, the carbs and sugar do.

    The big thing that "health nuts" lost sight of, also happens to be one of the simplest things: Moderation. Chris is right, red meat like beef absolutely can cause all those dangerous health problems... if eaten in excess. Just eat it in moderation, and be sure to keep up your aerobic exercise to keep your circulatory system strong. You'll not see any food-related health problems until your senior years, if ever (barring unfortunate genetic predispositions and whatnot, of course).
