I came across your channel at some point, because of rimfire, but my long time thing has been long range precision rifle. I also love matches that incorporate pistol. All of it is fun. Do it all, and don't worry about people who don't support it.
Adding centerfire is a welcome addition to the channel.. pay little attention to those who do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to produce content. As for the decision on 22lr pistol, if you get comfortable with knowing that you have a higher mag capacity, it can stifle your progress. Personally, I prefer to have the more accurate firearm thus taking one factor out of the equation. Look, I have been shooting pistol competition since I was 12 years old. Started with a revolver and went as far as a race gun... it boils down to what works for you... and practice! I have been known to burn up 1000 rounds in an afternoon when I was heavy into it... I love that you are Lazer focused on being a well rounded shooter.. most of us will continue to do the same😊 Thanks Josh, keep at it and remember to set goals that you can achieve to keep from becoming frustrated 👍
In the Pursuit of Accuracy, shoot the Ruger pistol. If you miss less, you need to reload less. You'll never miss 10 times and hit 10 times faster than you'll miss 2 and hit 10.
I’m down for rimfire DMR. Or frankly any rimfire stuff to shoot. I do think that any set of rules for rimfire involving pistols should have a division that is 10 round capacity. I think a ton of people have old Ruger MK series, Browning Buckmarks, or Smith 41s. Heck a Smith 617 does 10 RD too. I think you might scare people away if they think they need to buy something new just to try something out and be competitive. Also… I really wish someone would make a ruger MK compatible grip frame that accepts bigger mags like the sig or the Taurus. You could also do a rimfire 3 gun (pistol, speed target rifle, and precision rifle) This is your channel. Put up what you like that you think is interesting.
The Rimfire DMR match looks super fun! Based on my recognition of the range at the Falling Steel match, we’re somewhat close, so if you happen to want another shooter at the DMR match, I know a guy! 😉
Love the new match style!! If you know of any places these type matches are being held, please add that info to your content. Way to go... working to make yourself a better, well rounded shooter. Some advice... pistol dry fire practice makes a huge difference!! It definitely did for me.
Salut Josh, Glad to see you will be including the Sig P226 Legion pistol in your efforts to becoming “a well rounded shooter”. Please consider utilising your forefinger on your support hand to grip the front of the squared off trigger guard. Sig, Glock, Berreta, CZ all use the same design feature to aid control of muzzle flip and speed of follow up shots on POA. If those guys include this feature in their excellent designs, it seems silly to me that so very few shooters try to benefit from this advantage … only a suggestion of course ….. but worth a consideration when developing a well rounded shooter’s grip! Cordialement RB
Although I'm fairly sure our "help" is mostly to generate comments and engagement the answer is whichever one you get higher scores with. Set up a few courses of fire that simulate matches and run them several times each and use whatever gun comes out ahead. If it's close then use the one that feels better and you enjoy more.
Well, I am a lover of anything 22. As far as pistols go, the Ruger 22/45 with a ValQ lower is my go to. I also have a kind of funny Beretta "M9" 22 that is extremely reliable, but not accurate enough for what you are doing. My cousin has a P322 and we both love it. This looks like a fun match for you young guys. My 75 year old body is confined to benchrest these days. I will have to enjoy watching you shoot it. Looks to me like you need the mag capacity of the Sig for this endeavor! Thanks for the great videos! Always enjoyable.
Love the video. Always a good idea to be well rounded. I don’t have a range close by that would be able to do a DMR match so I use my local gun club and the local gun store who do winter leagues and I shoot both center fire and small bore. Helps the winter here in NE Wisconsin fly by.
Watching you on the pistol, to me, it looks like you're rushing your shots rather than settling. How much more impressive would it be if you took an extra half second but hit the target on the first shot rather than the 4th or 5th at the 12:34 mark in your video?
Love the new direction you are going. Brought up the 2-gun format to Doug and Jason and looks like we will be giving it a whirl this fall. We may get be hitting you up.

Well, I’ve been using in all of my 22 comps in still challenge and tactical challenges at the gun club using TX 22 comp with a red dot and also using a Smith & Wesson MNP 1522 changed out the trigger to a 3 pound single stage trigger with red dot my times are just as good as anybody running the high dollar equipment and beating most of them. A detailed explanation of DMR would be helpful :) As far as which pistol to use, accuracy trumps almost everything. If you ever needed to use these skills for a real self defense situation, the fewest rounds needed the less chance of innocent people getting hurt. Just one person’s thoughts

@@clarson2916 most of those questions are going to change match to match. Its largely up to the match director for squad sizes, target size, target distance, and barricades. The stuff that should remain the same is unlimited round count, par time of 100-120 seconds, time penalty for any skipped or targets not hit
@@PursuitofAccuracy Target sizes and distances are completely random, is information that is important to know. There probably are some standards though, like distances shot with the handgun are generally between 10 and 30 yards, and most frequently approximately 15 yards. Handgun targets are generally between 6 and 10 inches, 8” targets at approximately 10-15 yards are most common. This gives a new shooter a place to start. Telling someone that they should attend a few matches is just the easy way out. I know giving people real information is hard work, but that’s why we pay you the big money :) You could do several episodes about the handgun stages you have experienced. You could do an episode about being a scorer or spotter during a match. I’m guessing that during many matches you take turns during the match being the spotter or scorer. I have found that to be common in other shooting disciplines, but no one on CZcams has ever covered this for any shooting discipline that I have seen. New shooters want to know these things, and new shooters are the most important shooters. Thanks for all you do for new shooters. Ive been shooting my whole life. I’m 68 with congestive heart failure. I can figure this stuff out, but I’m not important. I won’t be here in 5 years carrying on the sport.
@@clarson2916 im not taking the easy way out.....that would have been not responding 🤣🤣🤣 We shot pistol from 10-75 yards at targets from 2" to 10". But that, as I said before, is entirelly up to the match director. They can make the targets as easy or hard as they want at any distance and target size.
Hey buddy I really like you Chanel. I live near you in NC and want to get into shooting match’s. We’re do y’all shoot. If you can help me out I would appreciate it. 👍
Gone through the video and even slowed it down and I still can't find where your pistol skills have waned. To make the point, you have an open invitation to shoot with me on my private range. I'll pursue accuracy from watching you shoot, and you'll feel much better after watching me.
I used to shoot competitive pistol. In the videos you are shooting way too fast. Slowing down and ensuring your sight picture and a good trigger press equals more hits. Hitting a higher percentage of your shots is faster then sending 20 rounds down range for 50% hits. I have one of the 45/22 when you upgrade the cast and stamped parts it becomes the best value in a target pistol. I would spend some time finding a match ammo that shoots in your pistol, try Remington blue box( a less expensive mix of accuracy and enough velocity to work the pistol). Shoot the small steel targets at your range when you can hit them consistently going to larger targets makes them easier to hit. More metal equals a faster sight picture. Work on saving time changing mags and moving from station to station. I was surprised how my speed picked up when an instructor spend an entire day teaching me to pick up my feet to avoid tripping, how to move forward and backward and not bounce up and down while shooting, reload without looking, and how to use barricades for support
@PursuitofAccuracy the stance helps you manage recoil and your following shots. Look at resources in IPSC or USPSA. Brian Enos has some books on the subject that you will benefit from reading.
@@PursuitofAccuracy 100% agree on the 12 round mags but I’d much rather have a thoroughly tested reliable competition gun from a company that’s been customizing guns since the 70s, over a quick new version of another gun at a higher cost from a company who tests their products on their consumers and then has to recall them due to lawsuits…my version of the p322 was so bad that I erased the footage and didn’t even make the video and sig actually had the audacity to send me a email containing a video showing me how to load the magazine
@@Whispertactical lmao i heard about the magazine loading vids 🤣 Pretty crazy. Im not really a sig fan boy but I always seem to end up with more than 1 of them. Sucks they rush everything to market
What's with incoming vehicles within the 180degree shooting field????? No way this would be a sanctioned match with that clown show happening. Great channel, range setup not under your control but this is absolutely 100% stupid. Range Master needs to be replaced as he obviously does not know safety rules. Sorry for the rant but this is exactly how someone slipping in the bed of that truck puts a round through the windshield of a vehicle because people in course design get lazy.
Stick with the p322, reloads take time, my experience is if ishoot a match and two pistols are both accurate enough to shoot the match, take the one that holds the most bullets, if the match takes 23 rounds to clear why start with a 5-7 second penalty right off the bat.

@@clarson2916 im not taking the easy way out.....that would have been not responding 🤣🤣🤣
We shot pistol from 10-75 yards at targets from 2" to 10".
Autryville at the range complex hosts nrl monthly's and zoo city armory in franklinville nc does nrl22 and outlaw matches now.
Volquartsen....
Gone through the video and even slowed it down and I still can't find where your pistol skills have waned. To make the point, you have an open invitation to shoot with me on my private range. I'll pursue accuracy from watching you shoot, and you'll feel much better after watching me.
Haha appreciate it.
Its mostly my fundamentals have gone to crap, i miss and try to shoot faster jerking the trigger
It's your stance, fix that and accuracy will come
Im sure it needs work, but lots of other things too 😁😁
@PursuitofAccuracy the stance helps you manage recoil and your following shots. Look at resources in IPSC or USPSA. Brian Enos has some books on the subject that you will benefit from reading.
There is absolutely no way in hell I’d choose a sig p322 over anything volquartsen…they could make a single shot and I’d still take it over a sig p322
The vq is 100% nicer
But 12 round mags suck
@@PursuitofAccuracy 100% agree on the 12 round mags but I’d much rather have a thoroughly tested reliable competition gun from a company that’s been customizing guns since the 70s, over a quick new version of another gun at a higher cost from a company who tests their products on their consumers and then has to recall them due to lawsuits…my version of the p322 was so bad that I erased the footage and didn’t even make the video and sig actually had the audacity to send me a email containing a video showing me how to load the magazine
@@Whispertactical lmao i heard about the magazine loading vids 🤣
Pretty crazy.
Yeah i didnt notice that until i edited the video
Stick with the p322, reloads take time, my experience is if ishoot a match and two pistols are both accurate enough to shoot the match, take the one that holds the most bullets, if the match takes 23 rounds to clear why start with a 5-7 second penalty right off the bat.
go do some steel challenge matches,, on sundays in anderson sc and belton sc.. that will get your one shot per target skills up fast
Josh is there anyway I can contact you through email I’m building a custom CZ and I have questions
