  • It's been a while since I bought a console from GameStop... so I decided to buy a Refurbished Nintendo Switch from GameStop! You may know that I've purchased a USED Nintendo Switch console from GameStop before, but I decided to go with a refurbished Nintendo Switch from GameStop this time... refurbished consoles from GameStop can be interesting. Check out the video to see if GameStop messed up again!

The first switch I got was refurbished from GameStop. I noticed the screen poked out a little more than normal, then a week in, the controllers would not stay connected, wireless or in handheld mode. One more week goes by and the screen literally pops off and breaks on the floor. Thankfully they sent me a new one and gave me $100 back

I got a refurbished switch for Christmas off the official Nintendo website and I tried to update it and the internet wouldn't connect. So therefore I had to wait about a month and I got it back (hopefully) repaired. Then the internet would not show up again and I had to wait another TWO MONTHS until Nintendo FINALLY got me a brand new one. The moral of the story? Don't get refurbished stuff even if it's from the manufacturer

I stopped buying consoles from Gamestop after they sent me an used NES Classic Edition after I paid for a new one, when I went to return it the person at the counter try to tell me it was no big deal because "it works" I explained to him that was not the point, I paid for a new console and that's what I wanted, I was given a full refund.

Certified pre-owned means it's been inspected/repaired and meets certain criteria set by Gamestop. It's like buying a car. A certified pre owned car means it meets the car manufacturers guidelines. It's a guarantee that the product is in good working order. Cleaned/detailed/repaired/inspected. All that jazz. Having said that though, it's Gamestop. They do some shady shiz.

I used to work at a game store for a couple years and we would open every refurbished unit sent to us from our warehouse for the customers so they could see what condition the units were in. I'd feel shitty selling something a little roughed up to someone that wasn't well aware of what they were purchasing. Lucky for us we were in a small town so everyone knew everyone and we could take our time with each customer. Last I heard, they closed down the location because of covid. Such a shame.

While I do support game stopand their business model I would not trust a used console from them not because of anything that game stop has done to it but because you never know what the previous owner has done to that console and GameStop can't afford to completely strip down every one they get and detail it. I believe in always buying a brand new version of a console if at all possible and researching what red flags to look for when you are planning to purchase a retro console.

YET when I brought them my Xbox one to sell , which was in great condition ( I cleaned it) they didn’t want it cause it had a spec of white in the back. The smallest mark known to man. Refurbished means that they went through it and made sure there were no problems and if there were any they corrected them it doesn't mean that they wiped it Down clean
